Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
By night the sky got darker, rain poured down like an amazon rainforest and the scent of wet dog and muck permanently stained the air. The lightning was so harsh it was turning the sky white and the thunder was louder than a roaring ocean. But to Creampuff the world moved around her to the beat of the invisible music. The song in her mind exploded with the lightning and dropped heavy notes like thunder, and the rain danced along with her as she skirted along the walls of the dens and into Flamingstar's. Everything was always sunshine and rainbows to Creampuff, she never saw a gloomy day or a mean cat, her optimism was her filter. Thee moment she locked eyes with Flamingstar she inhaled a big breath and let it all out.
"It's raining SUNSHINE! All over mankind, it's raaaaaaaa-ining SUNshine ♫♪" Creampuff sang out in an actual perfect pitch unlike the pitch she had when she was younger. In that instance Creampuff broke out her best dance floor moves. First the tripple twirl, followed by a shuffle, then the shoulder shimmy. Finally when her dance routine was coming to a close she slid forward in front of Flamingstar panting, "It's not just in your mind! It's raaaaaining sunshine! ♫♪"
After panting for a moment Creampuff stood up, her fur at this point completely dry from account of all her moves, "Happy Mothers Day mom!" Creampuff said with big teary eyes and a uncharacteristically bashful smile.
Flamingstar had been snoozing in her den, not quite ready to get up for the night. However, when Creampuff burst into her den in song, it made Flamingstar jump out of her skin and let out a yowl of surprise. Her eyes were widened, her claws outstretched, and her fur bristled like a hedgehog. When she realized it was just her crazy adopted daughter, the queen relaxed. She let out an exhale of relief and amusing annoyance as she rose to a sitting position. She watched the rest of Creampuff's performance and smiled when her daughter wished her a happy Mother's day and called her mom. "Thank you, Creampuff. That dance and song was beautiful. But you wake me up like that again and I'm gonna dunk you in the pool." She shook out her ruffled fur, relaxing more and more by the minute from her terrifying awakening.
"Wouldn't be the first time," Creampuff said jokingly as she came back up beside her mother brushing up against her soft fur, "Happy mothers day though, I really appreciate you setting me straight as a kid and always trying to remain patient with me. Now if I ever go missing, I hope you have no doubt that wherever I am that I want to come back home because my homes always where you're at," She purred lovingly and was about to nuzzle into her mom when Tigerlily stuck her paw between the two.
"You two can hug later, we're on a schedule. Flamingstar is pregnant and my goal is to succeed in ensuring Flamingstar stays comfortable and well managed to the point that she has no unnecessary discomfort," Tigerlily said matter of factly, but in fact she was a little jealous. Tigerlily knew her own mom unlike her older siblings and she always looked up to her as a role model, but... It was sad that she didn't want to come back and visit and she was mad that her dad pretended she didn't exist. But at the same time she grew to love Flamingstar a lot, a part of her was purely jealous because Creampuff was able to calling Flamingstar mom, but she wasn't even sure if Flamingstar was her step mom. Was her father and Flamingstar together?
Flamingstar let out a small purr but her smile quickly faded. She opened her mouth to ask Creampuff a question that had been eating her up alive on the inside but Tigerlilly had interrupted the moment. Perhaps she would have to speak to Creampuff about it some other time. "It's alright, Tigerlilly. I enjoy having my daughter around. Though, she may just make me go into labor early if she keeps scaring me out of my sleep." Flamingstar teased, giving Creampuff a quick lick between her ears before turning back to the black and white tabby.
"Ohhh, I hope I can be a mom someday! I'm going to have the biggest family ever and we'll have so many kits!" Creampuff enthused before giggling at her moms comment.
"Really? I would think you would want to seek out a tom a part of the BrookClan lineage since you are among the last of your kind being BrookClan and all. But I suppose these things must matter little to you, I know after sometime the league side of my family stopped caring about where blood came from," Tigerlily said thoughtfully.
"I never thought about that... It is really sad that BrookClan fell apart, sometimes I think of what could have happened to me if I hadn't been taken away. What about you Flamingstar, were you always from NightClan?" Creaempuff asked.
Flamingstar was taken by surprise at the question. A stab in her heart brought memories flooding back. She remembered her sister racing through the forest in the snow, she remembered the gentle scolding of their mother whenever they did something wrong, she remembered how their father used to play with them when they were kits. Though, most of all, she remembered when the other apprentices laughed and teased her for not being good enough. She had to blink the flash backs away before tears would start pouring down her face. She cleared her throat before speaking. "No, I wasn't always from Nightclan." She needed to be honest. If she were to lie, someone else might tell her the truth. "I was born in Moonclan."
Flamingstar's eyes glazed over for a moment as she fought back the feelings of regret and empathy. She did not want to relive these moments, yet, her she was, speaking to her two daughters about her dark past. She swallowed hard before speaking. "No. I had a very lovely mother and father who raised me in Moonclan. I left Moonclan after I became a warrior. I thought Primal Instinct could offer me more than my birth clan could but I was wrong. I stayed in Primal Instinct for a while until I felt like I didn't belong there anymore." She didn't want to tell them that she craved power and that she wasn't getting that power she craved so much from Primal Instinct. She didn't want to tell them that the only reason she came to Nightclan was to take it over, in which she had. Flamingstar knew she had made mistakes and knew she had cheated her way in but she couldn't bear to tell her daughter's how evil she truly was. "I came to Nightclan after escaping the Primal Instinct's assassin's. Burningstar allowed me to stay here and promised me protection."
There was a stab in her heart as she remembered Burningstar's kindness and generosity in which Flamingstar had taken advantage of. She had not returned the favor but instead stole a clan that she wasn't even born in. Regret tugged at Flamingstar's heart to the point that she felt physically ill but she forced it down. She couldn't let her daughters know too much of her horrible past.
Tigerlily smiled along as she listened to Flamingstar as though lost in a lullaby. Really she was lost in the fairytale of a loving family, something she never had. She was raised by her mother and then given to her uncle. Her father had been excluded from the picture because she was told he was dangerous. No one had been wrong about that, he was obsessive and constantly paranoid that others hated him. She could understand why her mom wanted to get away from him, but it hurt when she wanted to get away from her. Hearing that Flamingstar had a good upbringing was reassuring that maybe it wasn't too late for her.
"Oh what happened after that!?" Creampuff exclaimed.
"Can't you see that these questions are bothering mom- her. She doesn't exactly look like she's retelling her happiest moments," Tigerlily pointed out.
"Oh I'm sorry... Well happy mothers day though," Creampuff purred rubbing up against Flamingstar.
The Nightclan leader was embarrassed that her emotions were being revealed so she pushed them far down and recollected herself. "It's okay. I became leader after that and you became my daughters." She replied simply. "Thank you for the mother's day surprise song, Creampuff." She purred as Creampuff brushed against her.
