Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Dusk had settled around her, but she paid little mind. The small calico had never quite adjusted to the nightlife, and was often found leaving the camp before the sun set and coming back just after it rose. They were undeniably long days, but the more tired she was, the more likely it would be that she would slip into a restful sleep. She looked down at the flower in front of her. She had been coming to this spot in the territory every day since she saw the flower bud lift from the ground. It was her mother's favorite time of the year, when she could stop looking at the ugly winter flowers and welcome those that lived in spring. The bud had caught her eye a few days ago, and each day since, she had spent a considerable amount of time waiting for it to bloom. It was a flower that she'd only ever seen in BrookClan's territory, and it reminded her of home, reminded her of her mother, of her siblings. It had been so long for her heart to still be so raw when she thought about the home she was forced to leave. It was a terrible thought, to know that the only place she belonged was forever out of her reach. She offered a sad smile to the flower, before dipping her head to the flower. A small tear slipped from her eye, and Teminine let out a faint sigh.
"You seem upset." came a voice, breaking the silence that settled over the territory at night. The brown tom took a step closer to Teminine. His green eyes were bright and held just the faintest spark of mischief. Pheonixspark, in his short life had already lived to see three leaders rule over his clan, one of which was his late mother Nightstar. The dark brown tom was the only one of his litter-mates to survive and at as result he had grown careless, believing he couldn't be harmed. So naturally he had an arrogant look about him even if he didn't mean anything by it. Even now as he watched the she cat with mild concern he couldn't wipe the smirk off his face.
If there was one thing that the Tsar had taught her, it was how to snap out of any discomfort. She was willing to cry, but the dark beauty was not willing to let others see her cry. In this way, she was more like Kerrigan than many had originally anticipated. She blinked the tear away, and put on her best devilish smile. "It happens to the best of us," she mused with a wink, before shaking herself once and rising to her paws. "I'd love to say that it was an allergic reaction- this is the perfect time for the excuse - but truthfully, I sort of miss my mom." And my life, and everything about the Monarchy, she continued in her head. "But, that's all in the past, hmm?"
His expression wavered slightly, the smug look falling off at her words but, he didn't frown. With a nod he let out a sigh that seemed to deflate him a little. "I know the feeling... I haven't seen my mother since I was a student." It was the first time he'd ever mentioned anything about himself to anyone, not that anyone had ever asked of course but, now seemed like the best time to share. After all misery loved company and all that.
There was a moment of recognition that passed through her gaze, recognition of how it felt when Kerrigan disappeared when she was a kadet. "Yeah, that was about the time when my mother disappeared." Teminine let her gaze drift properly to his form, and she let out another sigh. "What happened to your mother?" She asked, before shaking her head. "Er, I mean, you don't have to answer that. I'll tell you what happened to mine, though, and maybe we can make this a sharing is caring zone or whatever dumbass stuff my sister used to suggest." There was a certain wryness in her tone at the last part, although she let out a chuckle. "Tsar Kerrigan threw a party with the SpringClan leader, and she didn't come back from it. We never saw her again, and a few moons later, BrookClan was gone." She flicked her whiskers. "I wonder if it would have survived if she hadn't disappeared, but hey. Win some and lose some, right? I just happen to lose more than I win."
"My story is pretty much the same, One day Nightstar just... never came back, and my litter-mates didn't last much longer after that." that was something cathartic about talking to someone he didn't know, that also shared his pain. Perhaps he had made the wrong call by choosing to shut everyone out. It wasn't that he didn't like his clan-mates but rather he felt he annoyed them more than anything. It was true of course, but somewhere along the line he felt guilty and decided to just keep to himself in his antics. Except when he constantly pushed the boundaries of his own mortality.
Teminine let out a soft noise of understanding. "I'd love to say it gets easier with time, but, here we are. Kerrigan has been gone for...." she tilted her head. "It's been about a year, I believe. This is the first spring without her. Maybe once it gets a little less fresh, it'll get better, but I've pretty much given up on that idea," she meowed with a soft amused hmph. "Did you ever think about running away from this place after your mom disappeared? It was too hard for me to stay near BrookClan after it crumbled; too many memories of home and her." This was unusual behavior. Teminine wasn't often so up front about her emotions, and this was the first time since she came to the group that she'd had a heart to heart. She wasn't entirely sure why she was doing it now, but it was nice to be around someone who understood. The amount of cats whose leader mother disappeared was small, and it felt validating that she was finally around someone who also belonged within the group.
"No.." he admitted with a small shake of his head. "I was too young, and had no were to go... Sometimes though I do wonder about my place here, there's more people in the clan that I don't know than the ones that I do. Sometimes I feel as though I'm the outcast in the clan. But, that's stupid right? I was born here so I must belong here." He had no idea why he was telling her this, she didn't ask and he knew he was over sharing but he couldn't stop himself. Everything he had been keeping to himself poured out of him like word vomit.
"Sometimes, where we are born isn't where we belong. The world isn't completely congruent, I don't think. Life's too unstable to fit that nicely," she murmured in response. "And feelings are never stupid. It's stupid we have them, don't get me wrong, but however you are reacting is valid." Someone had told her that once, and although she wasn't sure that she believed it totally, it felt right. "Alternatively, though, you can put yourself out there a little bit, maybe? If you feel like an outsider, maybe all you need to do is get your name out there a little bit?" Maybe, the two of them could both better integrate into MoonClan?
