Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"I have sooo much to tell you, Ratstar!" Poppypaw had only just returned to SummerClan that morning. After filling her guts with her favorite prey and taking a four hour nap, she had finally made her way to Ratstar's den to give her report. The she-cat that stood before the SummerClan leader was not the same she-cat that head left, though. She was still on the chonkier side of the spectrum, perhaps even more so now after all the pampering she had in DayClan, but if she left as a girl she returned as a woman. Her fluffy cream-colored fur was smoothed down and elegant, her figure was a pronounced hourglass, she smelled faintly of wheat and sunny days and... was that... milk? Poppypaw's fluffy fur hid her underbelly which until recently had been swollen with nutrients for the eleven kits she had raised on her "work study." She hoped Ratstar wouldn't notice but, if he did, she was sure she could explain herself out of it. After all, DayClan never suspected she was an apprentice, and SummerClan still thought it had been a secret mission as far as she could tell. She was good at her craft. The thought brought a mischievous smile to her face.
"DayClan is an absolute madhouse! Within the first couple of days of my arrival, a couple of she-cats with super-powers came into camp and took over the entire Clan in minutes. They were not in power for more than a moon before a stronger super-powered cat usurped them. Glowstar oddly was okay with it all which was really worrying for me, but I was always well looked after and was never put in harm's way. Except for just the other day when the crow's attacked, although that wasn't really anybody's fault, it just happened. I think? Anyways, I left pretty shortly after that, all I can say is that things are getting really sketchy in the Forest Clans right now. BUT! Despite it all I got to do so much studying. DayClan has herbs and flowers I've never seen before and I brought as many seeds as I could carry. Get this - they use herbs to season their prey and make it taste even better than it normally does! I can't wait to try it out here in SummerClan, there's so many combinations here that you can't really get in DayClan. They don't have the same fish as we do after all." Poppypaw continued to ramble on for awhile and then paused, cocking her head at Ratstar ever so slightly. Her bondi blue eyes shone brilliantly against the auburn tabby markings that framed her round face, "Don't you think I did a good job?"
Ratstar laid comfortably in his nest, staring up at the not-so-young apprentice with an amused smile on his face as Poppypaw chattered away about her trip. He listened to her spiel with interest, though he couldn't help but notice small details in her scent and appearance that didn't entirely match up with the picture she was painting in his mind. The Summerclan leader actually had a pretty good idea of the actual reason for she-cat's moons spent away, though in all honestly there really wasn't a need to bring it up now or ever unless Poppypaw decided to tell him eventually. So instead he sat back as he learned possibly more about Dayclan than he actually ever wanted to; at least it added another reason to the growing list of why he should never interact with the Forest Clans ever, aside from the weird Sun-cult.
At Poppypaw's question, the tabby tom grinned brightly up at her with a purr. "You did do a good job, a great job! You got a lot o' cool info there, though honestly the most we'll probably end up usin' right now is the herbs makin' prey taste better, but the rest might come in use later on down the line. You should be proud of yourself, Poppypaw...though I don't think it'll be Poppypaw for much longer. You deserve a reward for all o' your hard work, after all."
"Oh, you really think so?" Poppypaw purred and took a couple steps closer to Ratstar's nest, her bondi blue eyes shining brightly in the low lights of the den, reminiscent of the ocean's waters at sunset. She then swished her tail from side to side and lowered herself to the ground. It didn't feel right standing over Ratstar and she wanted to get as close to his face as possible without brushing whiskers. Direct eye contact was a great way to get what you want, she knew that well before her trip to DayClan, "It would be a dream for me to have a ceremony like, now! Don't you think I deserve to have one all on my own? It's happened before and it just doesn't feel right returning to the apprentice's den, they've cleaned out my old nest and are all so much younger than me anyways. I've been Warrior aged for moons now and am ready to start that next chapter of my life...," she paused, then gave Ratstar the most obvious wink ever,"...with you."
Ratstar let out a hearty laugh at that. Poppypaw was always straight to the point, wasn't she? Of course, the meaning behind her wink went completely over his head, but he at least got the message about her warrior ceremony. "Sure! I don't see why not," he remarked, before glancing behind her out towards the camp. It was already twilight, with a few stars already peaking out as the last colors of sunset faded away behind the mountains. "It is a bit late, though. I don't wanna ruin this big moment for ya, but I don't want to wake up the entire clan, either. They probably wouldn't be too happy about that." He chuckled again, before staring back at the she-cat with a thoughtful expression, and a playful glint in his eye. "If you really wanna have your ceremony tonight, would it be alright to have your witnesses be whoever's still awake? I can do a formal announcement tomorrow morning, or we can just wait until then for your ceremony. It's your call, Poppypaw."
"I guess it can wait until tomorrow, it's just..." Poppypaw pawed at the ground, looking uncharacteristically bashful. She was wearing a stunning array of flowers, most of which didn't grow commonly in SummerClan but were plentiful enough in DayClan. She smelled strongly of DayClan's wheat fields after spending so much time there but beneath it all was that unique earthy scent of a garden keeper. She never did stop tending to the earth, it was her passion, but almost everything about the way she looked and smelled right now had an ulterior motive, "... I don't want to sleep in the apprentice's den, but I can't really sleep with the Warrior's yet, either. Do you think maybe...? Oh, never-mind, you'd never allow that, wouldn't want your girlfriend to get the wrong idea..." Her intention was clear; her paws were already pawing at the fringe's of Ratstar's own nest, her bondi blue eyes earnest and easy to read. She had already made herself pretty comfortable here, the unspoken question was: Do you think I can stay?
The leader couldn't help but smirk and roll his eye at Poppypaw's theatrics. Honestly, she really cracked him up sometimes. It astounded him how she could effortlessly change her demeanor once she set her mind to something; it was as if the young she-cat had simply put on a mask and became someone else. Yet he still scooted over in his nest anyway, opening just enough room for his companion to curl up beside him. "Honestly, between Summerclan and Dayclan, I think you've been spoiled rotten," Ratstar remarked with a teasing bite to his voice. "Though I wouldn't consider m'self all that pleasant of company t' keep. I'm sure the warriors wouldn't really mind much, if ya change your mind later."
"Don't you think I deserve to be spoiled?" Poppypaw replied teasingly, although she really wasn't joking. Her eyes glowed in the low-light as Ratstar made the space next to him in his nest. She almost didn't believe how easy this was and felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her as she realized she actually was going to be able to sleep next to him. She was so used to being denied stuff like this that she faltered when actually given the opportunity. The manx she-cat quickly, though, and wasted no time snuggling right up against the SummerClan leader's side, purrs rumbling from deep within her fluffy chest, "You're the best, you know that? Way better than Fairystar. He wouldn't give me the time of day but you make me feel like the most important girl in the entire world." She began to groom his shoulder, she hadn't been quite so touchy before she left for DayClan but raising twelve kits would change anyone, "Your fur is so soft..."
"Heh. Summerclan made me soft," Ratstar replied simply, not elaborating on whether he was talking about his pelt or his general demeanor. An argument could honestly be made in favor of either one. Instead, he rested his head on his paws and glanced over his shoulder at her, feeling a sense of comfort and peace wash over him as Poppypaw groomed his pelt. "Fairystar, hmm?" He meowed, changing the subject back to what she said earlier. "Heard a lot about the guy. A real stickler for the rules an' such. I don't think he'd be too much a fan o' me."
"No, probably not," Poppypaw mused between licks. To be honest, she hadn't known Fairystar very well at all, just that he was more of a traditional leader. She'd been half way through her apprentice training when he stepped down so she never really had a reason to talk to him. But enough about that old guy. She groomed Ratstar's shoulder for a couple more minutes the laid her head against his shoulder, using him like a pillow. Her short tail swished against his flank as she made herself even more comfortable, "But who cares about him anyways? You're the leader of SummerClan now, and, under your leadership, I found the southern sea. The Clan is stronger than ever and it's all thanks to you. It's like you're a handsome little good luck charm ~ ♥" Poppypaw was purring deeply, but it was sort of strange-sounding, somehow reminiscent of a muted twolegplace doorbell.
"I wouldn't go that far..." Ratstar chuckled nervously, briefly glancing outside the hollow at the mountains in the distance. "We're doin' pretty well for ourselves, sure, but a lot o' that is because I made friends with the closest clan t' us. The forest clans, and I suppose Winterclan as well, are completely foreign to me. Is why I agreed t' send ya over there - 'cause if one o' 'em decides Summerclan's good pickins..." He let out a sigh, and moved to rest his head against Poppypaw's. "I'll let ya in on a little secret o' mine; I might be a good talker, but I never was a good fighter. When the goin' got tough, I ran for the hills. I ain't got no clue what might happen if we's were in a full-blown war." The leader wasn't exactly sure why he was telling her all of this, he never even told his own Deputy or Medicine Cat this. Part of him wondered that maybe it was a statement of how much he really trusted her.
"The Forest Calns are so wrapped up in their own drama with Gods, Goddesses and Elementals, that SummerClan is the least of their worries. Plus, I did DayClan a favor out of the kindness of my heart and made them stronger for it, strengthening our ties with them. Oh Ratstar, I can't wait for you to meet my children someday, I'm sure they will be some of DayClan's strongest Warriors." Poppypaw nestled her head between his shoulder blades now but quit squirming around after that; her breathing slowed down as she drifted closer to sleep, "Hmm... ya know, as beautiful as DayClan was, it has nothing on SummerClan... I missed home."
"Oh Ratstar, I can't wait for you to meet my children someday, I'm sure they will be some of Dayclan's strongest Warriors."
Unbeknownst to Poppypaw, Ratstar's eye opened wide in surprise at the confession, and he subtly glanced over to stare at the soon to be former-apprentice, only to see her already beginning to drift off to sleep. It was a bit strange, seeing her so quiet and peaceful - she looked like an angel with her head resting on his shoulder. His chest seemed to flutter as he watched her with a fond gentleness that he had never known or felt before. The cats of Summerclan might see her as self-absorbed, obnoxious, and a notorious liar, yet he couldn't imagine any other cat laying by his side at that moment. "I missed ya too," he whispered, knowing that she was probably too far gone in her dreams to hear him. "Heh, I think I know just the perfect warrior name fer ya after all..."
