Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
BLIND DATE: paoFaith In WinterClan’s camp was a large wooden plank and laid out across it were leaves, sticks, woodchips, and flowers. All crafting materials to assemble leaf planes, carve wood chips into boats and make flower wreaths. The activities were more the type of thing a cat would do when stuck indoors during a storm, but nonetheless gave the couple something to do while they got to know each other.
Wintrystar couldn't pull herself away from camp for long and had offered that her blind date would happen there. As much as she'd rather not have a stranger from another clan in her camp, she couldn't afford to be gone from camp for long in case something happened while she was gone. Glancing at the tickets that had been gathered for this date, she awaited for the tom to show up and while doing so she finished organizing patrols and hunting parties.
Alvah Faris had neatly stacked the woodchips into triangular forms, delicately balancing them on top of one another to form a pyramid. He had volunteered to participate when he heard of the repopulation efforts. He understood that if Wintrystar and him made a successful pair during this date that their kits would belong to WinterClan, luckily that didn't bother him. He stepped back from his tower of woodchips and turned to look at Wintrystar, "What made you decide to participate in a blind date, not to offend, but you look intelligent and reserved. This doesn't feel like something that is your scene."
The same could be said about Alvah Faris, he was unnaturally tall with mountainous slick black muscular fur with silver along his shoulders that looked like a pair of wings. His copper gaze burned like hot coals, they were both enchanting and fierce to stare into. The intense focus that radiated off of him was thick, like by feeling alone anyone could tell he was always calculating, thinking, and more importantly, taking in every persons moves. For being a DayClan cat he didn't look or behave like one.
"If I am asking my warriors to participate I too must. It's a duty as a leader you see. I will not have my warriors do anything I myself wouldn't." Wintrystar nodded to a pair walking off to join another at the entrance for their patrol. Her mint eyes gazed around her, looking for more cats that needed organized or problems that needed to be solved. When she found none, she turned those sharp eyes on the tom beside her. "What about yourself? May I ask why a tom as handsome as yourself would join in on a blind dating event? I mean surely you can get any she-cat in your clan as a mate or even mother for kits."
"Admirable," He said simply in response to Wintrystar, his dizzying dull gaze staring off in a separate direction. He was used to making flat responses rather than the sharp sarcasm that played in his brain as consistently as ocean waves collapsed onto shores.
He tipped his head as though trying to consider if he was even slightly desirable. He was told he was handsome, but somehow the compliments lacked the shine and appeal that most cats felt when being admired. His life had been a wave of red and crashing pain for so long that there was a thick layer of numbness that clung to his fur like burrs, but twice as prickly. He considered her words though, which surprised even him to find that he trusted that she meant what she said, "DayClan is full of kind hearted cats, if I'm not quiet I'm sarcastic and if I'm not reserved I'm mean. I'm a part of the Bright Brigade, but having a high rank means little in DayClan. We have a class system and everyone knows I should be low class, but my sister helped me stay in mid class. I'm far from desirable in DayClan, so I decided to check if that notion was universal or help solely to my clan."
“Ah. Here in my own home, I am seen as cold and made of ice. Most wont look at me twice without fearing a scolding. I am strict in how I lead my clan but I must be least cats turn against me in dire times. The other clans should know to watch their selves as well for I am not the forgiving type.” Wintrystar didn’t look at him, part of her fearing he’d give her the same gaze of fear that others did. To many, she appeared a frozen guard cat. One crafted from the claws of the Gods to strike fear into the cats of the land. Her eyes were always piercing and sharp, her form was deadly, and her claws sharp. Her tongue even sharper and her temper like a storm. But at her center, she was soft and warm. The eye of a storm was always the most peaceful after all.
His stare had moved briefly in another direction, either uninterested or thinking, but after what felt like a while he caved and smiled at her, "Cool," He said with laid back ease, his gaze met hers. His twilight eyes had little weight, they were feather light, but flicked away as fast as it came like he was avoiding her stare. He looked back at the arts and crafts, "Seeing as you're unforgiving, I don't believe you'll forgive me if we continue this less than appealing date going. Would you like to go somewhere new for a change of scenery?"
Alvah Faris had hoped that WinterClan cats would be more serious, brutal, and above all else less sporadically kind to others for no reason and Wintrystar had checked all those boxes. She sounded commanding, merciless, but around him she seemed shy about what he would think, it was... An honorable feeling that such a strong person would feel shy around someone like him. He wanted to prove that he was a worthy person for her to feel flustered around and give her a better time than making crafts.
With one last glance around camp to be sure it would be fine without her, she nodded her consent at leaving. Their date wasn't going great but it'll improve, she was sure of it. Especially with a change of scenery. Now if only she could figure out what to talk about without revealing too much about WinterClan. She couldn't have a leak, especially not from herself. Clan matters didn't involve outsiders, it was their way of life. But still, she'd allowed for this blind date event with DayClan to help improve both of their clans' population levels. Hopefully it worked well and they wouldn't need to resort to this again.
Alvah Faris got up, standing at his full height he was abnormally large. The pure length of him could be two cats and his denser fur made him look bigger than he probably was. But the trail of paw prints he left in the snow already asserted his weight by how deep the marks went. With his back turned to Wintrystar it was easier to see the interesting pattern along his back. He was entirely black, but along his shoulder blades down to his back there were silver streaks that looked like angel wings. He turned back as he walked to look at her, there was no one out there with that kind of snowy tundra fur design than Wintrystar. Her fur and even eye color was entirely unique, it made him stare at her a moment too long before talking, "I wanted to know if there's somewhere you might want to go and um... What kind of questions you're comfortable with answering. I'm typically very reserved because of somethings in the past, but I would be okay talking about anything with you."
Wintrystar watched him for a moment, curious and amazed by his coloring and design. The gods had blessed him with beauty and strength, that much was clear. Pausing, seemingly in thought but really staring at him, she then spoke, "there is a place in WinterClan that most leave alone." It was secluded, but it..had a strange name that cats had given it. Its true name was long forgotten but this one had taken over. The thought of telling him the name of the place made her want to blush some. She began walking towards the entrance to camp, after pulling her eyes away from him. Giving a glance back she forced herself to look away again after beckoning from him to follow her out.
"Sounds enchanting," Alvah Faris said. His voice was low in the way that should be threatening, but his tone was nothing short of polite and direct, if not even a little sly.
His shoulders bobbing up and down like a panthers as he followed her. WinterClan was brighter than he pictured, which was dumb to think otherwise. He thought it would be a mess of pine needles and snow with little else eye catching about it. But instead WinterClan was vast like DayClan, there were plenty of open snowy fields, river banks, and hills. The land wasn't as frigid as stories held them up to be. He knew from his foster mother who had grown up in Primal Instinct that WinterClan could be as cruel as league cats. This didn't seem to be the case, or at least he couldn't imagine WinterClan being as cruel as they were described in stories. Not when his first impression was sitting down at an arts and crafts table with Wintrystar.
She hadn't answered his second question, what she was comfortable talking about. Maybe that meant to wait till they got to the location or she didn't wish to speak privately at all. Or he was overthinking things again- actually, since when did he ever over think anything until today? He looked ahead at Wintrystar leading the way and scoffed at himself internally. You're acting ridiculous over her.
Still, looking at her she made his heart melt. Even if that was silly, it was the first time he ever felt anything towards anyone. Everyone had been faceless, devoid of any unique qualities, but with her suddenly the world felt... Alive.
"What's your favorite color?" Alvah Faris asked, this time he was walking along side her, a faded smile played at his lips, "Or is that too personal of a question?"
Before they made it far she spoke up , "I hope you don't mind the cold. It's not as warm where we're going." It was further up the mountain, above camp with a hard route that leads to the secluded place. The rocky terrain and the cold is what kept most away from it, leaving only the most experienced warriors to venture up there. The Sovereign moved to where hse was walking beside him as they continued, in some areas she'd have to take the lead in order to show him where to place his paws least he tumble back down the mountain.
Breath, just breathe. You're the Sovereign of the clan, you can't blush like a student over a crush. Especially not when that tom is walking right next to you.Wintrystar was barely paying attention, her focus split between her running mind and the rocky, icy path before her. Luckily she'd caught his question before he thought of her as rude. Gods would that be bad."Favorite color...?" She'd never thought of that. All her life she'd been working hard as a warrior; loyal, strong, and cold. The she-cat had no friends or a social life. She was WinterClan through and through. So she'd never really thought of things like favorite colors or best friends or even activities to do with a tom before. Gods above! She'd barely come up with the activity they'd started with and that was solely so the cat wouldn't be sitting there completely bored while she ran her clan from the center of camp.
"No..it's not too personal, I've just never been asked, or even thought about it. Do....do you have one?" Was this something most cats had? Was she really that secluded and cold towards everyone that she'd missed out on basic social interactions like favorite colors? If so, what else was she missing out on? Did she need to know them to be a good Sovereign to WinterClan? Would they benefit her?
"Oh um, definitely shades of blue, sky blue, midnight blue. As a kit I would peak through the cracks in the den and stare out into the crisp blue skies when I would think no one was looking. I was so stupid though, it was a small den so someone would notice and beat me for it. But I'd always risk my well being for just a glimpse at the sky because that was all I had to look forward to back then," Alvah Faris said, but even retelling his story his gaze was bright staring at the open skies ahead of them. Now he could stare at the sky as much as he wanted.
(pao We could time skip to when he's been in prison for over a week? He's scared of imprisonment so he would be physically lashing out trying to hurt Frostcloud so maybe Wintrystar's called into the prison because he's becoming too violent? So she has to talk some sense into him)
