Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
The frozen pond was known for one thing… Being frozen. Never did it thaw, in fact it was only rumored stories that anyone had ever seen it frozen again. This is what made it a perfectly safe ice skating opportunity. Especially when the WinterClan warrior was more comfortable with the ice than the DayClan warrior allowing this to be a date reliant upon trust.
Sweetiepeach laughed nervously, "So you just skate across that ice huh?"
She was born in Primal Instinct, grew up being hunted down for her lineage as Vera E'tani's daughter, but this? This was utterly terrifying, what the if the ice cracked? What if she outright fell on her face in front of her date? Sweetiepeach was no stranger from WinterClan, her father Understar was once leader of WinterClan, but her mother never took her there. So when her grandmother Glowstar announced that Wintrystar and her were setting up blind dates it felt like destiny to come up to the mountains. Standing next to Lionwhisper, Sweetiepeach was a shroud of shadowy black curls, lying sleek and elegant as the dark side of the moon over her towering fox figured body. She was intimidating, yet alluring all at once from her icy white bengal legs shining like moonlight in the dark backdrop of her ebony fur. But her eyes were like a dragons, copper in the center and amber around the rims, fierce and mystical.
"Sooo, maybe we should chat first," She said as a diversion from the activity, "Like what made you sign up for a blind date or are you the adventurous type?" Her voice was slippery as the shadows coiling around her fur, but sweet as her name.
The ginger tom was a giant thanks to his strong genetics, often towering intimidatingly over most cats. Sweetiepeach was no exception. As he stepped down onto the ice, the Dayclan she-cat spoke up. His bright amber eyes turned back in a moment, looking down to take in the ashy black she-cat. His amber eyes were intense as he took in the Dayclan she-cat in the midst of her questions. "Of course, it's the fastest route." He spoke, his tone matter of fact, but not arrogant as he blinked over at the she-cat. He slowly stepped forward again, his paws and claws extend wide as he managed to get a decent grip of the ice. "It's not too hard, its just like walking." A small smile softened his serious features as he waited for the Dayclan warrior to follow.
Lionwhisper nodded kindly to her proposal to chat, finding comfort in the she-cat's ability to speak first. Her question immediately produced a surface leveled answer in the warrior's mind. He was just following his leader's orders. The Knight knew little of romance, but he knew enough to know that an answer like that would have been mighty discouraging and he didn't want to start off on the wrong foot. Instead, the Knight chose to think deeply on his decision, knowing that there was more to it than just following orders.
Lionwhisper had made no attempt to pursue any she-cat's within his own clan for many reasons, but there was one large one he kept at the forefront of his mind, Dating just wasn't in his plans, for a while until he felt well established in the clan which at this point in his life, he had achieved. Lionwhisper held a high position within his clan as the Knight of the Wise which he held proudly. At this point, he had no more excuses now to find a mate, but still, he prolonged the notion. As much as he admired those who found their life partners and the notion of starting a family, he still didn't feel comfortable steering off his path. His ambitions were too great, too large to fit anyone into them.
It was odd to know he was on a date. It was his first ever, but the cause was admirable and made sense. Build alliances for the sake of the clan. The idea was honorable enough to make the Knight open to the idea, but he wasn't quite comfortable.
"I wouldn't say I am not adventurous, but the spirit of adventure didn't guide me to make that decision." The knight explained calmly, extending his long, fluffy ginger tail out to the she-cat for support. "I think its honorable to find a partner and start a family," The words were careful as they made their way into the air around the two cats "Granted, I didn't think I would search this early, but it was worth a shot. And you? Why did you sign up for this?"
"I think its honorable to find a partner and start a family,"
"Me too," Sweetiepeach purred in agreement, she tilted her head to the side with worry briefly flashing in her eyes like she was afraid to answer, "Well. My father was once leader of WinterClan and my mother was the nemesis of Primal Instinct, she believed a lot about building a family for alliances." She said, knowing that the right word wasn't alliances, but power. That's how her mom thought of it and she doubted very little that her mother loved her father very much. "I thought it was fate when I heard about going on a blind date with a WinterClan warrior, something to take me back to the roots I never got to see. I was raised in the league so I never got to see the wintry paradise my dad got to rule, only the freakshow that is Primal Instinct. But don't worry, I'm not violent like other league cats... They made sure of that." She reassured.
She rubbed her paw shyly against the other leg, but stopped herself. For most of her life in the league she had been broken down and taught to keep her words deep in her throat and her eyes trained to the ground. Now that she was in DayClan she finally felt confident again, but it was still hard to grow out of the shy behavior she was forced to abide by in order to survive. Still she felt a sinking feeling deep in her chest, that maybe she talked too much, maybe Lionwhisper wouldn't want anyone with league blood in his family. There was a lot she could have done to already ruin this date before it happened.
"I think you're clans great so far though," Sweetiepeach said, trying to salvage the moment with a compliment.
Lionwhisper listened on with deep interest. The once reserved expression he held so perfectly melted away into a look of childlike curiosity as the Dayclan warrior divulged more and more of her history. It was a surprising amount of information. He could have never guessed the she-cat's complicated and seemingly difficult upbringing and ties. He would have felt for the she-cat more, but her bright and content personality made him believe that, despite the complications in life, the she-cat was quite at peace with herself. It was commendable.
"That is quite a story. I am afraid my life is quite bland compared to yours" Lionwhisper meowed thoughtfully, his expression softened. At her compliment he couldn't stop the breathy laugh from escaping his body. "I often hear a very different perspective of my clan." He admitted calmly. There was no hint of remorse or annoyance, only acceptance. "Winterclan hold an attitude where ever we go, it comes with the territory." He explained carefully, stepping forward in the ice, but still lingering at the Dayclan cat's side, weary of her ability to balance well on the ice. "But it is often mistaken for ignorance, but we take pride in our history, our lineage and the culture we live out on daily here. Granted, there are many who show it in a more... interesting way." A few cats came to mind as he spoke the words, making him internally chuckle. "Because of that, we are most often misunderstood... so it is refreshing to hear a more positive review of our clan." He turned to face the she-cat fully now, offering a smile of gratitude before the smile suddenly faded in the a blink of an eye, his expression turned focused as he noted the ice ahead of the she-cat. "Be careful, the ice is thin ahead." He meowed, stopping immediately in his tracks as his bright amber eyes trailed along the icy surface, noting the texture and color of the frozen pond. "Come this way." The directions he gave were stern but not unkind. His gaze remained on the ice as he assessed each section carefully.
"Are you sure we should be anywhere close to thin ice?" Sweetiepeach asked, a challenge her voice as she licked him, "Seems questionable is all, hope you're not trying to assassinate your date," She winked. Despite her teasing tone, her pelt was so close to his he could feel her body past the curls of black fur. She was relying on him to be able to move them safely across the ice. Putting any amount of trust into someone wasn't something she was used to. Back in Primal Instinct that sort of thing would get anyone killed. But it wasn't long before Lionwhisper could tell the second reason she leaned into him so much was to get closer to him, the smile melted across her lips said it all.
