Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Stormshelter crossed the threshold into Swiftclan with a slow sigh. He didn’t have much family, or even friends for that matter, left. At least that’s what he had been told. He wasn’t sure who had passed away and who remained, but he wanted to find answers. After Waterclan, he had disappeared, all but wiping himself off the map with a few other cats from various clans. Storm had avoided clan cats like the plague, actively going out of his way to avoid them, but thanks to a close friend, the group of runaways had decided to return home. Without a home clan to go to, Stormshelter had set out towards Swiftclan, hoping that they would accept him. A dozen possible scenarios ran through his mind on how events would play out the moment he was spotted, though he was counting on none of them. Things always tended to go wrong with him.
Humming lightly, she trotted through the thinning woodland as it opened up near the waters of the lake. The new area they'd settled in, just beside the mountain clans, was a little dusty for her but she was trying to make the best of it. At least the woods were filled with the scent of prey, and she could always hear soft movements of squirrels and birds in the canopy above her head. It had been so long since she'd been somewhere with so much prey, other than the piles the other clans had caught for them, and Shatteredshine's mouth watered at the thought of hunting it. As she emerged from between the trees she spotted a rogue headed their way and waved her tail in greeting. SwiftClan didn't mind strangers, though she was a little hesitant to face them anyway.
"I dont. I was hoping to join Swiftclan actually. I used to be apart of Waterclan but well...." He trailed off, shaking his head after a moment before looking back up at her. "Are you from Swiftclan? Would you be able to take me there?" After his slew of questions, he paused. "Oh, my name is Stormshelter, by the way. Nice to meet you." He looked a bit embarressed by the amount of questioning, but recovered quickly into his usual confident demeanor.

Vulcan, of course, was an ever present nuisance among the SwiftClan cats. He was Phoenixstar's father, and a ghost who just seemed to never go away. Really, he just like annoying Chimerastar, hence why he followed them around wherever they went. And, it seemed he'd found an interesting situation to pop in on. Which he did by poking his head right out of a tree and saying "Boo." right in front of Stormshelter's face, transparent features staring right at him.
"Wow, really? I'm from WaterClan too! I don't recognize you," she admitted with a soft frown, "but I was pretty young back then." Shatteredshine jumped a little as Vulcan appeared, startled, then rolled her eyes to see it was just her great grandfather messing around. "Vulcan, don't scare him, he wants to join us!" she scolded, raising a paw to swat at him. "Shoo! Or go find Uncle Chim, so he knows we're coming. Of course you can join SwiftClan, Stormshelter!"
Stormshelter jumped when he saw Vulcan, tilting his head curiously but slowly turning back to Shatteredshine. "Can you take me to your camp?" He asked, still glancingh back every could of seconds at Vulcan.
"What, ghost got your tongue, Stormshelter?" Vulcan flashed a ghastly sort of smile. "Oh, I'll get to Chimerastar eventually, Shattered. But I think Blacklotus will be far more interested. After all, this is her grandfather." The tom didn't give the returning cat, or Swangrace's daughter, for that matter, time to ask him any questions as the tom trotted away with a laugh. Guess he better get back to annoying Chim, shouldn't he?
Naturally, for a ghost, it didn't take so long to get to camp, and the spirit's voice seemed to echo as he gave a mock sing-songy voice, calling for his grandson. "OHHHHH, CHIIIIIMMM."
She shook her head at her great-grandfather's antics, slightly amused all the same. "Yes, of course," she replied to Stormshelter, starting to turn back before she stopped and spun around to face Stormshelter again. "Did he say you're Blacklotus's grandfather? Does that mean we're related?!" Her eyes sparkled and she pranced back to brush up against him. "This is great news!"
Chim was a little busy already -- his jaws full with a large stick as he carefully arranged a queen's nest and tried to ignore the young kit jumping up and trying to grab the end of the stick. As he heard his grandfather's voice he lifted his head sharply, smacking Swiftkit lightly on the jaw with the end of the stick. "You're back. Great."
"Hmm?" Tinybreath had been curled up near the center of camp, lazing comfortably under the sun's warm rays. Hearing her grandfather call out, she blinked open an eye in curiosity, before sitting upright when she noticed that Shatteredshine wasn't with him. "What's this about Vulcan?" she asked, feeling suddenly protective over her niece. "I thought you both went out together, don't tell me you left your great-granddaughter behind?"
Vulcan, naturally, flashed a smile that only spoke trouble. "Oh! I was just going to pass some news onto Chim chim cheroo here and then go looking for Blacklotus." He leaned towards Tinybreath with a conspirator's grin as he continued, not bothering to drop his voice to anything quieter despite speaking behind a ghostly paw. "A certain member of the family is back, after all."
He chuckled lightly at her, smiling softly in response. "Nice to meet you. Can we go to the camp?" He tilted his head, having no idea which way he would need to go to get there.
Did any cats in his clan call him by his actual name? Chim was wondering if he ought to do something about the blatant disrespect. The other leaders would laugh him out of the forest if they knew he was being called Chim chim cheroo... though he had a feeling that plight wouldn't affect Vulcan much. If anything, it would encourage him. "Family, huh?" he muttered skeptically. He thought for a moment. "Thunderstorm coming to visit?"
Shatteredshine nodded quickly. "Of course! Family is always welcome," she cheered, "let's go! It's this way." She bounded off toward the camp. "You can tell me all about yourself on the way there!"
"No, it's not Thunderstorm." Tinybreath answered her brother without even looking at him, still staring at Vulcan in surprise as the pieces finally clicked into place. Her grandfather wouldn't make such a mysterious fuss over Thunderstorm, as much as he obviously favored her. She finally glanced over at the Swiftclan leader, giving him a sly smile that said; 'I know you're starter than this'. "Chim...Vulcan said he was looking for Blacklotus. That narrows it down quite a bit, doesn't it?"
He shot Tinybreath a skeptical glance. Why would that narrow it down? But maybe she had a point. Who would want to see Blacklotus of all cats? Her mother, perhaps, but he doubted Vulcan would be that excited to see Squirrelpool. There was no way her father cared she existed. Finally, it clicked for him as well: who was notorious for leaving and coming back to them, besides his brother Batseeker? "Ah. Stormshelter, is it?"
