Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
To Creampuff the world always seemed to have an extra layer of sunshine, butterflies, and rainbows even in the dark of the night. She was a creamy sunflower blond she-cat sticking out in the crowd of reds and shades of grey warriors. She had a vanilla white chest that reached up to her cheek fur with amber freckles along her cheeks and honey gold eyes. Unfortunately for her she had the heartbreak of her mother Soaringstar being revealed to be a kit thief and every member of NightClan witnessing her mothers exile. Soaringstar had stolen her and her siblings from their real parents. If that alone wasn't enough for the entire clan to know Creampuff had also been exposed of being not even a half clan cat, but fully BrookClan blooded. Instead of cats looking at her with distaste everyone held pity in their eyes for her entire apprenticeship. She had been named Raspberry then, but Flamingstar had done a renaming ceremony and changed her name to Cream erasing her mother from her and instead Flamingstar becoming a mother figure in her life. Everything about Creampuff's had been made public and because of it she was very comfortable with any stares or odd lines of questions.
She happily skipped through camp before bumping right into Firewind and took a few steps back, "Oh, hello there Firewind!" Creampuff chirped, "Did you sneak up on me?" She asked teasingly, giggling before he could give a response, "Hey, would we be able to go on a patrol together? We could go take a teensy weensy little peak out at White Tree in DayClan to see if they've really taken it back. No touching anyone's borders, just looking with our eyeballs," She promised seriously or as seriously as she could.

The golden orange tabby staggered back a few steps before regaining his balance. He had started to open his mouth to apologize but Creampuff spoke before he could. Did she run into me or I into her? he wondered. He decided to let it be, no harm was done either way.
Not having gone on a patrol himself yet today, the offer sounded good to him. He was glad someone else was taking initiative in doing some work. A few times he noticed cats grumbling when he assigned them to patrols. Well wasn't I like that before I was promoted? "Alright," he agreed. "There hasn't been a patrol there for awhile. But just remember," he cautioned. "No crossing any borders. We don't want to start anything with DayClan." That was all he would need! Being the cause of an all out war starting!
"We won't cause any trouble, I pinkie paw promise!" Creampuff said with her pink paw pad over her heart. Once she did though she gleefully sprang forward seeming to have more skip in her step than actual gravity to the ground, however she stayed in step with her deputy nonetheless. "So what was it like before you were deputy compared to now? Oh, do you have a tragic backstory?"
From Firewind's point of view he could easily see why Flamingstar would name her Creampuff. From the spring in her step she looked like a puff of cream fur in the split seconds of when her fur was up in the air until it went down again. When gravity could finally for a few precious moments grab a hold of her that is. Currently Creampuff was speculating Firewind's name, she liked to observe every warrior and try and decide how they got their warrior name. Fire for his fur and then she was guessing wind because he must be fast.

How dramatic! he thought. Must every cat have some sort of tragedy in their lives in order to be important or interesting? The common knowledge about Creampuff he knew of course having been in NightClan all his life. It was too bad how she had been a victim Soaringstar's sins. He wondered briefly how she might have turned out if she had been raised in BrookClan. Probably no change he figured. Her happy personality most likely would have shone through. But BrookClan however was a strange clan with weird ideas. They were fine once long ago but the changes that they made ... well he guessed that's why StarClan let them die out.
"Tragic backstory?" he laughed. "You know I've lived my whole life in NightClan. The only tragedy I've had was the death of my father. But we walk every day with death at our side, don't we? So death really comes as no surprise." Every cat knew living the life of a warrior was a dangerous adventure but almost none who lived that life would trade it for anything else. "As for how my life changed when I became the deputy, well I'd have to say it made me grow up. Responsibility has a way of doing that." He still was finding his way around the duties of a deputy but he was a lot more at home with them now than when he was the day he was appointed.
Creampuff nodded along, technically, she too had spent her entire life in NightClan, it was where she first opened her eyes, however hearing that Firewind's father died made her grateful that no one close to her had died. Although her father and her had never been very close to begin with, she assumed she would feel sad if he passed away. "Whoa," Creampuff exclaimed at this point of view, "You're a little morbid aren't you?" She giggled nudging him teasingly, but her smile softened as she eased up, "I don't think of it as death walking beside me so much as StarClan. I have nothing to fear because I'll just move onto the next stage of life." She looked at peace with this fact, but suddenly perked up as she turned to face him, "Oh! Yes, responsibilities," She said with a playful bonk of her head as though she couldn't believe she almost forgot, "is actually another reason I'm really glad I bumped into you. I'm a loyal guard now, I want to do Flamingstar proud, but I'm trying to be SERIOUS," She said with a cold expression, but it crumpled into giggling laughter before turning serious again, "See! It's such a problem." Her tone came off a bit more defeated this time. "Would you be able to help me y'know, grow up a little?"

"To be honest with you," Firewind began, "I think being serious is a bit overrated. I had more fun as an apprentice and just as a plain warrior." Some days he longed to be a simple warrior again. He had forgotten Creampuff was chosen to be a part of the Loyal Guard. Now as he thought about it he did think the appointment was a bit strange. What was Flamingstar thinking? She's a nice enough cat and all but did she really fit in with such an important position? Then as he thought about the other members a different thought struck him. Maybe, just maybe, Flamingstar put Creampuff on the Guard to balance out the other members.
"You know," he meowed, "I was thinking that it might be best to just be yourself. Be serious enough not to do anything foolish but light enough to take things as they come. You look on the bright side of things which is a very good trait. Learn to be yourself. That's how you'll grow up." Now if only I can take my own advice! he thought ruefully.
(I'm so sorry for the long wait, I'm graduating college this week so I've been a wayyy more busy than usual, but once I graduate this week I'll be back to normal!! ;D)
"I think being serious is a bit overrated."
Creampuff let out a dramatic gasp, a paw cover her muzzle in what should be mock shock, but judging by the actual surprise in her expression her over reaction was genuine.
"Be myself," Creampuff repeated back to herself as though tasting the ideology. Her ears perked up as she turned to look straight at him with a big starry eyed look, "I like it!" She purred. The golden furred she-cat stood up a little taller, "If I want to take twelve laps for fun I'll do it! And if I want to tell cheesy jokes I'm going to tell them! What do you call a ghost's true love? A ghoul-friend!"
Creampuff cracked up laughing before turning her amber gaze back at Firewind, "Teheheh, you're right, it's so much more freeing to just be me," As she spoke her words came out more gentler, in control. For so long she held onto her pent up energy and without anywhere to express herself it would slip out at inappropriate moments. Now that she was able to be silly whenever she felt more in control of her mature side.

(Congratulations! I hope you do well in your new career. What was your field of study?)
"A ghoul-friend?" Firewind snickered. "Good one. But always keep in mind there are times to be serious and times to have fun. The two should never be mixed." He liked how he had surprised Creampuff with his answer. He could tell she was genuinely amazed and pleased. Although he hoped his advice wouldn't backfire. In his mind he imagined what it would be like if some cat acted silly during a vigil for a lost clanmate. The thought made him cringe inside.
"I don't know if I should but I'll tell you a joke." It had been sometime since Firewind felt anywhere close to being lighthearted, maybe long before he was appointed to be deputy. Creampuff must be rubbing off on me. Glancing over at the happy-go-lucky she cat, he smiled. It had been awhile since he thought of this joke. "What creatures has more lives than a clan leader?" He paused before telling the answer. "Frogs! They croak every night!"
Creampuff nodded vigorously with encouragement as Firewind announced he would tell a joke. She listened carefully and actually bit the interior of her lip in thought to try and decide more seriously on what creature could have more lives than a leader. Maybe something like a cockroach? But all at once hearing that it was a frog her entire face lit up like starlight as she giggled, "They do croak all night, I love that! On rainy days you and I should tell jokes to all the warriors in the warrior den, they'll have nowhere to run if they don't like them," She joked.
She felt more comfortable with Firewind, he wasn't business every second of his breath, but instead could tell a joke and even level with her about how silly she should act. "Hey, what about you? Like I struggle with being too ridiculous all the time, but you helped give advice on how to balance that. So what do you need help with, maybe I can help you in return with something." Creampuff offered.

(Wow! That sounds like a good field to get into. I hope you do well. Psst! Make a Warriors video game! I'd play it. )
Firewind was pleased Creampuff enjoyed his frog joke. It had been one of his favorites since kithood. But the thought of him telling jokes in front of a larger audience made him fell uncomfortable. He wasn't one who liked to cut up too much in front of others.
"I think you already did," the orange tabby replied in response to her offer of help. "I was more easy going before I became the deputy. But ever since then I had been worried about getting the job done right. Before I was put into leadership, I thought only thing the deputy had to do was assign patrols. I didn't realize all the responsibility that came with the position. I knew I needed to lighten up a bit but I was finding that was more easy to say than to do."
(I SO want to make a warrior cat game! Especially one where you can work up to be a medicine cat or leader and then have cute functions. Like if you're a leader you get to choose warrior names and you get options on what you want to mention during clan gatherings. Or if you're a medicine cat you're in a lot more moral dilemmas between your clan, helping others, and StarClan. It would be a lot of fun!)
"I remember when Flamingstar first picked you as deputy, you looked so stunned," Creampuff laughed lightly as the memories flickered back into her mind, "I remember feeling like I was finally complete when I became a loyal guard. Not because of the title, but because I was trusted enough to become one, did you feel the same way too?" She asked with a small smile, "I guess either way we have a lot more in ourselves than we know, but Flamingstar saw something in us."
Creampuff carefully walked along the rivers edge being careful to not walk onto SunClan's territory as they headed over to DayClan's border. Luckily the White Tree that NightClan had captured was right at the cusp of DayClan so it would be easy to safely tell if DayClan had taken it back.

(COOL! I would so play it!)
"I was stunned at first," Firewind admitted as he thought back to that day. "And later I felt excited and honored. But after that I felt the weight of responsibility push down on my shoulders." It wasn't until recently that he began to feel more comfortable in his duties. He had worried about whether he sent out enough hunting patrols or if all the borders were being marked. He used to worry if he was even good enough for the job. But now as he had been the deputy for awhile, he felt more comfortable with the position.
"We're almost there," he meowed as he paused by the river to take a drink. He checked the air for any fresh SunClan scents but all he could detect were stale ones.
Creampuff's expression burst with excitement as he retold the story from his point of view. He was so modest too!
Hearing that they were almost reaching DayClan's border she tasted the air to see if she could pick up on any DayClan cats already. It was hard to tell, SunClan was downwind from DayClan so any fresh scents from this distance could be coming from any kind of direction. She bumped into Firewind playfully, "You know, for what it's worth, you're one of the best deputies we could hope for! You're so thoughtful about everything you do and you never put anyone down. We're really really lucky to have someone like you."
"Are you NightClan?" Asked a disgusted voice.
Deeper into SunClan territory there was an orange tabby she-cat approaching them. SunClan and DayClan used to fight constantly, but ever since Littlestar was made leader the two clans got along like close friends. Because of this the two clans were relatively protective of each other.

Firewind felt his face grow warm from the praise Creampuff had heaped upon him. He had opened his mouth to respond to Creampuff when he heard the strange cat speak, his reply being effectively cut off. Then when he heard his clanmate deny they were from NightClan, he gave her a questioning look. There was no sense of denying it. One sniff would tell the orange SunClan cat the truth in an instant.
"Actually we are," he meowed, glancing briefly at Creampuff. He knew of the friendly relations between SunClan and DayClan and wondered if this she cat would stick her nose in their business.
"Your leaders mate tricked our DayClan into thinking we betrayed them and used DayClan's lack of protection to take their land to infiltrate our territory. So whatever you're about to do I suggest you do it fast because this won't go unreported," The she-cat said warily.
Creampuff nodded slowly, primarily because had been a part of both raids. The raid to take over White Tree from DayClan and had infiltrated SunClan's camp. She was not on good terms with any ForestClan cat outside of NightClan because of those rampages. "I guess we better be quick then," She said to Firewind. After all, they hadn't come all this way to turn back now when the location was so close. Plus she was a loyal guard and Firewind was the deputy. Even if they were both kind at heart they were among the best warriors in the clan. If anything was thrown at them there was little they couldn't handle.

"Yes, let's do what we came here to do," Firewind replied to Creampuff. Then turning to the SunClan cat, he meowed, "Go ahead and make your report. We're not doing anything wrong." In fact that was the truth, they weren't. They were just checking on their territory to make sure it was still in their possession. "We will leave only when we're finished."
With a swish of his tail to indicate he was not intimidated by this outspoken SunClan cat, he turned back to Creampuff. "Let's go mark our territory." To do this job quickly would indicate to the enemy cat that she had authority over them and they were afraid of her. That definitely was not the message he wanted to send to her. He would take his time and carefully examine the entire area to his full satisfaction. "The nerve of her trying to boss us around."
The she-cat watched them leave, her ear twitching before darting away.
Creampuff watched the she-cat leave before walking in pace with Firewind, "Especially a deputy and loyal guard member. Even SunClan has members like the loyal guard, she should have known better."
As they approached the hill Creampuff could tell that the scent of NightClan was now old, it was odd since she knew that a NightClan patrol should have gone by this territory not too long ago. Now White Tree was covered in DayClan scent again. Of course it was technically DayClan's territory, but she supposed Flamingstar had wanted to send DayClan a clear message of who was in charge. "I hope the NightClan patrol went okay, it's weird that their scents are faded," Creampuff said as she began to walk up the hill to get to White Tree.
Post by Whitemuzzle on Jul 1, 2020 13:38:28 GMT -5
"The scents are faded because they're old," Firewind meowed looking a bit peeved. "The last patrol should have renewed them." He looked around the woods as if he could see the patrol who were derelict in their duties. "I'll have to have a talk with them when we get back." He then began to investigate the White Tree and realized it was covered in fresh DayClan scent. "Seems like they drank a whole lake and then let it all out here," he said in disgust. "Let's set some fresh markers where they'd normally go and then report this to Flamingstar when we get back." These recent events had put the deputy in a bad mood. The meeting with the SunClan cat was only an irritation but this was far worse. Would Flamingstar try to take the tree back again?
"Right," Creampuff said, skipping leisurely with fast speed over to the hill line. She marked her scent along the perimeter of White Tree, especially close to DayClan's new boundary line now that they had lost territory.
"Firewind."
A black she-cat from DayClan's side emerged, she had white bengal legs and bright coppery amber eyes like marigolds. Sweetiepeach was a DayClan warrior, granddaughter to Glowstar. She had attended enough gatherings to know of the NightClan's deputy name. She approached them calmly, sticking to the side of the new border Creampuff had begone to mark. She dipped her head politely to the two of them, "Do you both have a moment?" She asked before adding, "I'm not here for trouble."
Creampuff could already guess Sweetiepeach wasn't there for trouble, no one in DayClan ever was. She didn't want to call them pushovers, but they were overly polite. If it wasn't for SunClan having DayClan's back she wouldn't be surprised if the clan went extinct at the first sign of war.
