For moons he put on a mask and became someone else, but today he put on the mask and was still the same person he was seconds ago. Snowbunny's mask was made up of black feathers across his eyes forming a giant cowlick across his forehead. He was a smallish white tom among the hundreds of other white toms with a rogue scent making it virtually impossible to identify him. Quietly he followed a rabbit from SpringClan onto SwiftClan's territory, of course he had no idea they were even a clan. It happened when you were imprisoned for moons. His fangs glinted in the moonlight as he darted forward striking and rolling twice with a rabbit before triumphantly standing with the meaty rabbit in his jaws. This rabbit was huge, it was the same size as him and now it was his for the taking and poor SpringClan would think it was a rogue.
Creeping low and soft-footed through the spotty brush, he was tipsy on the warm scents of prey around him. After so many hungry nights as his clan desperately sought out new shelter and relied on others for prey, Hiddenvein could have cried to find such a bountiful place to make camp, even if it was a little too close to the other clans for his comfort. He didn't want to give up on chasing some bountiful prey just because it was drawing near a clan's border, that was hardly fair when he put in the effort to track it that far, and he wanted the room to run as far as he could in search of prey. The scent of freshly-spilled blood had his mouth watering and despite his proximity to the border, he plunged into the undergrowth in search of it.
He must be lucky today because the hunter was clearly not on SpringClan territory. "Did you catch that for me? I appreciate the kindness," Hiddenvein called out as he prowled forth, addressing Snowbuddy with his claws unsheathed.

Heathersong breathed in the loamy night air, a contented sigh escaping her. The weather had finally begun to shift, leaving behind those frighteningly cold nights and bringing around warm, windy days. Now, the air had a nip of chill in it, but her pelt kept out the worst of it. She wandered their temporary home aimlessly, allowing her mind to dally where it may, when the scent of freshly spilled blood and outsider caught her attention. Slinking to the ground, the SwiftClan warrior slipped towards the scene, pausing when she saw Hiddenvein confronting an unknown white tom wearing the most peculiar contraption on his face. She made sure she was downwind and kept herself pressed in the undergrowth, deciding to remain hidden until Hiddenvein needed help so she had the element of surprise.
Snowbunny kept up a steady speed, the rabbit weighing him down massively when he noticed from the corner of his vision something had moved. His sharp ears perked up, standing on end as he immediately stopped, his claws unsheathing. Most clan cats would never be out at this hour and it had therefore never crossed his mind to be anything, but a predator. However when a cat appeared his guard lowered as he cocked his head to the side, the black feathery mask highlighting the brightness of his green gaze, "Am I being robbed here?" He asked with a slow lazy smile, "Cause you're cute and all, but I don't know if I'm willing to take you out for dinner, no offense hon."
He ignored the jibe, golden eyes narrowing further. "I believe I'm being robbed," he returned, "because you're on my land. And by the look of that... thing on your face, you know it." Hiddenvein didn't have much experience with masks, and he didn't understand the strange feather arrangement on his face, but he could grasp that it was keeping him from identifying the intruder. His jaws parted to taste the air again. The stranger reeked of other cats, probably from a different clan, though the former rogue couldn't identify it.

{ { sorry it took so long to reply! } }
Heathersong kept silent, though she heard the hostility in Hiddenvein's voice, the lazy indolence in the intruder's, and decided nothing good could come of this meeting. She opened her mouth to scent him, though much like her clanmate couldn't really pick out any one identifying scent. She caught notes of SpringClan, though they were faint enough that she didn't think he was a member of that clan. She decided she would come out if the intruder came any closer to her clanmate, element of surprise be darned.
"I borrowed it from SpringClan," The tom shrugged before tapping the earth beneath his paws, "Besides I haven't broken any rules from wherever you're from because if you do live here the scent markers aren't that strong. How about we compro-," He began as he stretched his neck, but in mid stretch he kicked the rabbit into the air, caught it in his mouth and dashed away from Hiddenvein. There were plenty of tunnels to dive in around here and given his slightly short stature it was easy to dive underneath roots and nimbly skid past any nature that would trip him up.

His action would have shocked her in any other situation, but Heathersong's muscles were quivering with anticipation so when the stranger took off at a dead run, she reacted before she even realized what was happening. "Stop!" she yowled, her claws digging into the soft earth to give her extra push towards the tom. She might be smaller than him, but she was a SwiftClan cat and she took after her name. "You can't get away that easily!" She lunged at him, fell just short, then lunged again, her eyes ferocious and claws outstretched. She caught his flank with one paw and used it to pull him to her, bowling them both over in the dirt. She struggled to pin him, finding her small stature unhelpful in a fight. "It's useless to fight," she panted, sucking in lungfuls of air as she prayed for Hiddenvein to catch up quickly, "My clanmate will be here in a second and then you'll be outnumbered."
Hiddenvein yowled in rage as the intruder took off. His golden gaze cut to Heathersong as she dashed after Snowbunndy, speeding past the lithe tom and leaving him puffing in the dust. He had no time to question where she had come from, though, or resent her speed, and focused only on keeping pace behind them so the pair would stay in sight. He was falling behind and slowed his face reluctantly, on the verge of giving up when he saw Heathersong take him down. He shook his head and hurried to catch up.
Snowbunny wasn't exactly exceptionally short, but he wasn't average size for a tom either so despite Heathersong's smaller size she had a better grip on him than if he was taller. He struggled to push her aside and stand up, but he wasn't trained to fight so his combat wasn't exactly sharp. His ears flattened at what he was about to do, but hey, she started it by being the first to stop using words and turn things physical. He bit her in the ankle hard enough to break skin and threw Heathersong off of himself. At this point it was a general rule to leave the prey behind and escape so he left the prey on the ground and immediately bolted right as Hiddenvein entered only pawsteps away from him.

Heathersong yowled in pain and surprise when his teeth broke her skin, and then gasped for air when she hit the ground after being tossed off of him. "You dirty mongrel," she spat, getting up and putting weight on her paw. Fortunately it seemed the wound was mainly superficial, but her pride stung all the same. "Now you've done it." She caught sight of Hiddenvein just ahead of the intruder and took a special glee knowing the slightly larger tom would likely have the upper paw in the intruder's next tussle.
Heathersong took down the intruder, but he fought back and managed to squeeze free. Hiddenvein shook his head and pushed harder, stretching out his last few strides to close the distance between them. He was drawing ahead, and as Snowbunny caught up with him he turned sharply and leaped, slamming against the intruder and taking them both down. Hiddenvein yowled as he grabbed at Snowbunny to hold him close, refusing to let him escape this time.
Snowbunny grunted as the other tom ambushed him from the side. He could feel the powerful strength being exerted from the tom before he hit the ground. Already bracing himself for the impact he clenched his jaw as he was slammed to the ground. The other toms weight forced his skin into the ground scraping it as they skid an inch or two across the forest floor. He winced as he struggled to get away from the warrior, but he couldn't. Maybe it was because he had no fighting ability, but the other tom had him easily pinned down.
He didn't know what that meant to be trapped underneath the warriors paws. Usually cats chased him off or would leave him alone if he abandoned the prey. But now his heart was racing, he could feel an uncomfortable prickle of warmth under his skin, all distinct characteristics of fear. Were they going to hold him down and beat him up? Or were they going to slash his throat open and leave him as crow food? He struggled to move once more, but he was trained to be a hunter, not a fight. His muscles weren't as refined as a warriors was to get out of this mess.
Hiddenvein stood over him panting but triumphant. "Now you've done it, friend," he hissed. "Running away like some sort of coward? If you're going to steal from us, at least have the courage to face us after!"
His voice was filled with rage, but there was anxiety in his yellow eyes as he glanced up at Heathersong for help. Now that he'd caught the thief, he wasn't sure what to do. Hiddenvein was a rogue until recently and he wasn't used to having a territory other cats could steal from. If another cat swiped anything from him, he would hunt them down, but after he got the prey back there was no harm done.

To be honest, Heathersong didn't quite know either. In FallClan, prey thieves either fought and were defeated or managed to get entirely away. This limbo in which they managed to catch the offending cat wasn't really something she was trained in. She walked over to where the tom was pinned and snarled at him, all angry bravado. The best they could do would be to scare him into not encroaching on their territory again.
"Stay out of here," she hissed, pressing her paw on his throat hard enough to stop his airflow. "If you want prey, find it on unmarked territory, or take it from a clan that doesn't care. SwiftClan might be new, but we need the prey and won't allow thieves to come and take what is ours. This time you'll get away unharmed - I can't promise about next time. Keep that in mind." She lifted her paw and stepped back, giving Hiddenvein a slight nod.
Snowbunny's ears pressed up against his head as Hiddenvein hissed at him. Instinctively he tried to keep his head pressed down and tail still to show he had given up. Instead he felt Heathersong's paw press against his throat, choking him. Snowbunny kicked his back legs, flailing, but listening to her. When she let go of him he gasped for air coughing harshly. He had never felt this helpless before in his life and found that despite his pride he quickly nodded to Heathersong because he believed her. Still he was being held down by Hiddenvein, "Please, let me go?" He asked, the humility clear in his tone.
Hiddenvein glared into the other tom's eyes, searching for understanding. The little tom sounded a bit pathetic, and he had clearly given up, so with a nod the white tom retreated. He sheathed his claws and stepped away, giving the foreign tom space to regain his paws. "Leave us the rabbit. It belongs to us now," he added sternly. "Understand? Don't come back here."
