Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Snowbunny looked proud to see his friend wearing the friendship bracelet he made and gave a small smile before answering Snakefang, "Oh that, that swan was actually from the old Survival Clan territory. Sometimes clans that still live near that land like to pretend it's theirs and can cause me some trouble, but most of the time it's fine. The old Survival Clan territory is far, but since I know the tunnels from being a Regime cat I'm able to get there faster than I would on the surface. There's no rivers, gnarled root paths, weather, or cats slowing me down so it's easy to get back and forth fast. I can show you how I steal prey tonight if you're interested," He tempted.
"That makes sense." Snowbunny had been apart of WinterClan for some time, Snakefang had forgotten about the underground tunnel system that had brought him to their territory. He scowled. How could he have forgotten something like that? He hadn't been down there himself, so the offer of going to another territory sure was tempting. "I don't know about that, Snowbunny. Are you sure its a good idea after just coming back from stealing prey this morning?" he questioned. Deep down, Snakefang wanted to go but an itching feeling was warning he might have other obligations he would have to attend to. But he could use an adventure; a change of scenery, if even for a little while, would be nice.
"Well, you have a point," Snowbunny admitting scratching his head, "But DayClan has a farm near them with a chicken coop and I was thinking of stealing a chicken from there! It's a two person job though because they have dogs that will give chase only if you mess with the chickens."
The possibility of danger with a decent reward? Sounds like fun. "A dog, you say? Hmm..." he responding thinking to himself. "I'm in. I wouldn't want you going by yourself and getting hurt." He glanced around to make sure no one was possibly around. "What time were you thinking of leaving?"
"Does now work for you?" Snowbunny asked, a teasing smirk formed across his lips, "It's always better to leave as soon as possible so the job gets done faster and hopefully there's enough time to sleep before the clan wakes up in the morning."
It was moments like these where he knew that destiny led him to WinterClan. He never had friends like this in the Regime, there was just never anytime. Hanging out with friends always made him feel selfish because if he wasted time in those kinds of endeavors than he wasn't hunting and providing for his family who was starving. But here there wasn't desperation, everything was a little bit more laid back, comfortable even.
Snowbunny did have a point there - the sooner they left, the sooner they would be back and no one would be the wiser. Snakefang considered it for a moment before nodding once with a smirk of his own. "Now works for me," he said, "but about how far away is it?" It was still relatively early but anyone could wake up at any moment and wonder where they are. The risk of this endeavor brought a rush of exhilaration and he couldn't contain it. Hopefully, though this trip will go without a hitch and they make it back in time before any suspicions are raised.
"Well, unfortunately the only chicken coop around is at DayClan, it's the best place because the farm is used to having cats so the dogs and two-legs don't bother us," Snowbunny explained, "But when we kill a chicken it needs to be quick because if they make a noise there will be a chase."
The white tom began to lead Snakefang towards the nearest tunnel entrance. It was easy for any WinterClan cat not to notice because there was no reason for them to come near the area. The burrow was nestled in between some bushes and you had to hop over a rock to get in. This was exactly what WinterClan dreaded was in their territory, but Snowbunny felt relatively safe that it wasn't like the Regime was going to use these tunnels to attack the clan. Although their warrior numbers did seem about even. "In here," He said as he began to enter the burrow.
Snakefang nodded and followed behind Snowbunny into what looked like a tunnel. So this is what the higher-ups were talking about when they were referring to the Regime cats invading, he thought as he scrabbled through the brush and into the mouth of the tunnel. "You're the subject expert here, are there any hazards I should worry about or is it pretty much straightforward from here?" he called out ahead of him. He felt uncomfortable being in there. As a cat who was used to much more open spaces, this was a shock to him. He was feeling claustrophobic and stuck and his breathing quickened. Was he starting to feel...anxious? That was definitely an a feeling he thought he would experience in his lifetime. Hopefully this trip wont be long and they'll be back on the surface again soon.
"Yes, but Renegade Regime cats are just like WinterClan cats, we prefer to stay out of other clan matters and keep to ourselves. In fact when our ancestors first made the Regime we lived underneath a portion of Primal Instinct's land for moons without them knowing," Snowbunny explained, "But the only danger is becoming lost. These tunnels can get pretty narrow so it's easy to take a wrong turn. It will be alright though, I'm easy to see, you won't lose sight of me," He promised.
Although it was much easier for Snowbunny to say that, he was smaller in size, making it easy for him to navigate and not feel so closed in.
"Mmm alright, I'll take your word for it," he replied shakily. The more time he spent down there, the more he felt trapped. What if he got stuck between and rock? Would he die down there?Negativity is what'll get you killed, Snakefang. He had to believe in Snowbunny or else he wouldn't have offered for him to go. He had enough sense to not put his friends in danger....right? He nodded his head once and steeled his resolve. "Okay. I'm ready when you are."
Snowbunny dashed through the tunnels weaving through the tight corners. He crawled beneath low burrow structures, the air was getting tight, but once he squeezed past the burrow the appropriate air level returned back. When he came out the other side of the burrow the ground was soft more like dirt then hardened ground. In front of the two toms was a massive underground forest, "This is Renegade Regime territory, but it's far away, they don't patrol here often, so we're okay. It's located right underneath DayClan's territory so it's convenient, in fact DayClan gifted us this land when we helped save them moons and moons ago," He explained. "Back then my dad was a hero, he was commander and he helped save two clans from SunClan's clutches."
It was tough at first, but Snakefang managed his way through the tunnel system. Following Snowbunny, he found himself standing in front of a forest. His mouth opened in awe. "Wow...I didn't know something like this could exist down here," he said as he looked on in wonder. "Its crazy to think that they would give you guys land like that, but it makes sense if you all save them from destruction." He wanted to go into the woods and explore them but he knew he shouldn't. He shook his head breaking the idea from his head. "We should keep moving," he suggested.
Snowbunny nodded and led him through the underground forest. He signaled to his friend to follow him up a tree before realizing that WinterClan cats didn't typically climb trees. Most were pine trees and the ones that weren't didn't really house any animals that would make it worthy of climbing. Still it was in a cats instinct to climb so he didn't worry too much. When he got to the top of the tree there was a fallen over log that led up to the surface of dayClan's territory that he carefully across. "Yeah it was pretty bad, SunClan cats would induce DayClan and SpringClan's queens labor, kill the queens and then steal their kits. Renegade Regime is usually pretty quiet, but it's not right to stand by and let any clan be treated that unfairly. Your clan must have felt the same because a WinterClan patrol came and helped us stand up to SunClan too. Except you guys got to hunt on DayClan's territory that entire leafbare as a reward!" He purred as he recited the history.
For his size, trees surely not his forte, but in order to get out that cramped space, it was a necessary evil. Scrambling up after Snowbunny, he let out a sigh of relief before turning his attention to the white tom.
"That was terrible time," he responded. Snakefang couldn't imagine what it would have been like for Spring and Day during those times, but he appreciated that Winter helped them out when they did. Winter and the Regime had a mutual agreement now but it was strange to hear that they helped them in the past, especially since he grew up learning about the past leaders of his clan. From all the stories he heard about them, some of them were ruthless, cold-hearted individuals. Assuming Snowbunny's more knowledgeable of the Forest Clans, a question came to mind.
"Do you think SunClan will ever do something like that again?"
"I think so, they have a lot of bad cats and a lot of cats who are too nice to speak up. They're not all bad, but they are all a part of the problem," Snowbunny explained as he led his friend across the fields. In the distance they could see a small looking shack, but it appeared well made. The den looked small, definitely a two-leg structure, but despite it's small size compared to the two-leg den it was still big for a chicken coop.
"At least if SunClan turns evil they wouldn't think of coming after us," Snowbunny purred.
"Hmm..." he grunted as he thought about what could happen. It would be naive of him to think that a clan like that wouldn't come after WinterClan for whatever reason. It may be unlikely, it was not impossible. "Are we nearby?" he asked as he spotted the small structure in the distance.
"We're right on top of it. Now chickens are docile, they'll maybe move away from you, but so long as you don't give chase they won't mind your company. So hangout, wait for one to come near you and when they do you need to finish it off fast, one swift kill to the neck. Because when they panic they'll wake up the two-legs," Snowbunny explained.
Quietly Snowbunny opened up a flap to the chicken coop and held it open for Snakefang to enter.
Snakefang nodded and slowly crept into the chicken coop. Standing off to the side, he observed them as Snowbunny instructed. On first sight, they were weird to look at. But after realizing they're not all that different from the birds they ate, besides in size and appearance, they became less foreign to him.
Snowbunny was small in size, but his ability to lie in wait countered any height difference. In one second a chicken crossed his path, in the next millisecond he had his jaw wrapped around its neck ending the hens life in a sickening crunch. There was a very small sign that a struggle had occurred at all. The chickens talons had barely scratched Snowbunny when he titled it closer to him. He looked encouragingly towards Snakefang to kill a chicken too.
Snakefang nodded and waited for his moment to strike. Compared to Snowbunny, he didn't have speed but he did have size and power to his advantage. Standing still, a bird crossed his path and he pounced, throwing his full weight onto it. Using his claws as anchors, he sunk his teeth into its neck and twisted. In the final moments of its life, it kicked and swirmed before finally dying and laying still. Well that was easy enough. Glancing over to Snowbuny, he asked, "You alright over there?"
