The newly named medicine cat apprentice wasn't sure yet what, exactly, her role was. She and Firetooth hadn't really trained much with one another, and apart from some basic herbs and treatments he'd briefly taught her, she knew little. Still, Mistralpaw wasn't one to let others know how out of her depth she was. Her back was straight, her eyes determined, and mouth pressed into a firm line. She would get through this, like she got through everything else in her life.
Unlike the other clans, SwiftClan didn't have a medicine cat den so much as an area appointed to the task, and it was there that she sat, trying to memorize their bare bones store of herbs. Their nomadic way of life didn't allow for them to keep many herbs with them, so her task wasn't too hard, but without a guide she was struggling. "...poppy seeds, cobwebs...goldenrod?" She spoke under her breath, unwilling to let anyone see her confused. She was so absorbed in her work that she didn't see her clanmate approaching until she was right in front of her.
GidgetGal So since she loves to bug Firetooth why not add him in lol
Lovepaw was coming in for her everyday check up on her heart. While the medicine cat may not have told her she needed to come in every day, she was anyways. Approaching the medicine cat apprentice, the other she-cat peered over her shoulder to look at the herbs she was sorting. “Where Firetooth?” Lovepaw peered at the herbs and grinned. “Are those for me? You know, my heart is fine at the moment but thats because there love in the clan right now.”

{ { ahh! sorry! my watchlist is getting too messy and I keep losing threads >.< } }
Mistralpaw screwed up her face to offer her opinion on the validity of that claim, but forced herself to swallow the sharp words and instead offered a tight smile, holding her tongue until she could find words that wouldn't send the other she-cat away upset. She carefully put away the herbs she had been practicing with and only then did she answer Lovepaw. "No, they aren't for anyone right now, luckily. We've managed to stay surprisingly unharmed in the last few days, something I'm sure everyone is glad of." She chose not to comment on the strange claim about her heart health, and instead looked over her shoulder into the camp for Firetooth. Lovepaw must be a cat he was treating, though why he allowed her to suffer such a delusion was beyond her.
Lovepaw frowned, pouting that these items were not for her. "What about my heart? Isn't there something for that? Didn't Firetooth tell you how bad it is? It needs for love to spread across the clan!" The small, white she-cat puffed out her chest and fluffed her fur as she took a seat next to the other apprentice. She didn't care about the other cats are those who could be injured, she cared about the level of love in the clan that effected her heart!

{ { sorry it took so long to reply! } }
Mistralpaw narrowed her eyes at Lovepaw, struggling to keep her sharp tongue in check. "Firetooth hasn't mentioned it to me, no," she managed, the bitterness in her voice a mix of her dislike of Firetooth and her newest patient. Why had Firetooth allowed such a delusion to continue unchecked? "I'll see if I can find anything for you, but it might be best for you to appeal to StarClan to fix the problem at the root, instead of depending on us to treat the symptoms." When we should be saving what herbs we can scrounge up for actually sick cats, she didn't say, though the words struggled behind her teeth to emerge.
"You don't need love, Lovepaw. You need chamomile and juniper berries to keep your heart strong." An annoyed voice carried through the makeshift Medicine Cat den as Firetooth returned, ironically enough enough carrying a couple branches of the berries in question in his jaw. He pushed past both of the apprentices, not even recognizing Mistralpaw at first as he set down the herbs into a small pile beside the goldenrod. "If I've explained it once I've explained it a dozen times" he groaned, finally turning to address both she-cats directly. "You have an actual heart problem; similar but not as serious as the one Rustyheart has. You're also delusional and don't listen to a word I say, but I unfortunately don't have herbs for that, so either sit down and eat the ones I've already prescribed you, or find something better to do than bother my apprentice."
"What do you mean bother? I'm not a bother! I'm just trying to help everyone here. I mean clearly, my heart issues are related to the lack of love in SwiftClan." Lovepaw just stared at him as though he had no idea what he was talking about. He may be a medicine cat but he didn't understand love. I mean how could he, he wasn't allowed to have love! "I'll take your herbs to make you happy, but we both know it's the lack of love.

"If you don't want to believe Firetooth, then don't take the herbs," mewed Mistralpaw, her temper somewhat lessened by her mentor's agreement that the apprentice was delusional. "You're sure not making either of us happy, I can promise you that." She rolled her eyes and turned back around, silently asking StarClan why they sent such a she-cat to torment her when her life was already miserable enough as it was.
Lovepaw draped herself all over the ground, as dramtic as always. "Fine. But! I'm telling you, you're wrong." Pulling the herbs closer, she slowly ate them while watching the two work. "What are you doing anyways?"
"Besides making sure your sorry tail doesn't keel over, and stopping your harassment of my apprentice?" Firetooth replied dryly, rolling his eyes before turning his attention to Mistralpaw. Obviously the two of them got along about as well as the Sun and Moon; that being not at all. But even still, he couldn't help but feel slightly amused by the young she-cat's snarky comments towards Lovepaw. At least the kit had enough sense in her brain to realize how absolutely impossible this delusional patient was. "I was trying to figure out a convenient way to transport our stores when Chimerastar inevitably tells us to pack up and move again. Our numbers are steadily growing, so we can't afford to leave any rare herbs behind."

Mistralpaw's ears perked up when Firetooth mentioned traveling with herbs, finally confident in her ability to help out. Thanks to her secret training with Earlybloom, WinterClan's witch, Mistralpaw had learned how best to transport delicate herbs over long distances. "Actually, if we just wrap them like this in a large beech leaf, it transports both the herbs safely and the beech leaves." She stepped forwards and deftly folded up a neat bundle of chamomile buds, tucking in the leaf so that there wasn't a single spot for any of the herb inside to fall out. She pushed the bundle towards Firetooth, internally challenging him to find fault with her work. If he did, she had her own proof that he was just biased against her, since she doubted he would tell the WinterClan witch that her method wouldn't work.
Lovepaw observed the herbs bundle that Mistralpaw had created. "Are we gonna have to carry all those?" She tasted a beech leaf once and hadn't liked it. Sticking her tongue out in disgust she grimanced at the thought of having to carry that.
Firetooth watched with visible surprise on his face as Mistralpaw effortlessly wrapped up the herbs in the beech leaf as if she had been practicing it for weeks. But he definitely hadn't taught her that, and the method was so specific that she couldn't possibly have come up with it on her own. So where on Earth had she learned that? The tom was snapped out of his thoughts by two pairs of eyes staring expectantly at him, and he quickly avoiding his gaze with an awkward cough. "Yes, that--that'll work just fine, Mistralpaw. Good...job." As he looked between the bundle and his apprentice, his gaze narrowed at the she-cat in a mix of suspicion and confusion, which vanished as soon as it appeared as he turned his attention back to Lovepaw. "Most of it, yes. Unless you want to deal with your 'heart-ache' all the time."
