Looking around the more temperate territory they were camping out in, Mistralpaw hummed in pleasure. This was much better than the old WaterClan territory in which she'd spent her first six moons. There was more prey, the neighboring clans were, on the whole, much nicer, and, her favorite part - the views. Gazing upwards, Mistralpaw caught sight of the mountain these nearby clans settled around ages ago and smiled. It was truly a beautiful land, and Mistralpaw was dreading the day they had to move on. She knew that whatever territory they went to after this one would likely be just as cool, but leaving behind the comfortable familiar for the unknown was always a little scary to the young she-cat.
Their makeshift camp was currently erected just outside of FallClan's territory, nestled beneath the vibrant green leaves and massive oak trees. Her nest was a mess of feathers, fur, and moss with no order to it, but that's how she liked it. Currently, the clan was too busy appreciating their full stomachs to get into any trouble, so she was sure Firetooth wouldn't have any need of her. Slowly rising from her nest, she crept forwards, carefully chosing each step to keep from waking her crotchety mentor.
She managed to sneak out of their camp with little incident, but now found that she had no idea where to go. FallClan's territory was just ahead of her, but only a little ways off was SpringClan and SummerClan too. WinterClan didn't interest her, as she'd grown up in leafbare and was more than done with the cold. Making a snap decision, the little apprentice took off towards SpringClan, her steps light and bouncy. She would never let anyone see her this way if she could - she had an image to keep up, after all.

"Wheres the fire?" A rolling purr split the air like a soft feather floating down from a passing birds wing. The black and mottled auburn she-cat raised her head from her snoozing place on the edge of the makeshift camp. Maltedbarley blinked pale amber eyes in amusement and curiosity. She remembered waking with the first lights of dawn to bounce around the edge of the clan territories that lay just beyond the barn where she grew up with her siblings and mother. That seemed like a lifetime ago now.

Mistralpaw could've jumped out of her pelt when Maltedbarley spoke, fluffing up to twice her size before she realized it was a clanmate and relaxed. She frowned at the warrior's amused expression but couldn't help to see the fun of it too. "Nowhere yet, though when Firetooth gets wind of me leaving camp I wouldn't hesitate to call his reaction an inferno." She gave a rueful chuckle, clearly making the choice to leave anyway. "I thought I'd check to see what our current territory has to offer, though there might be something more sinister out there than burdock leaves. You wanna come with to act as a bodyguard?"

Maltedbarley scoffed and looked down at her smaller frame and impossibly thin and dull pelt. "I don't know what kind of predators ill be able to scare off but I could sure try. I mean in the end all you have to do is run faster than me and you should be fine." she gave a little breathy giggle at her own dark tasteless joke before rising to her paws and giving her fur a rough sharp shake. Bits of moss falling to the floor, dust pluming in the air around her.

Mistralpaw hid her wince at Maltedbarley's shape and made a mental note to give her some juniper berries when they got back to camp. They were all suffering from the shortage of prey, but after their feasts with the Mountain Clans they had been looking a little better. Hopefully the poor she-cat wasn't ill, but simply malnourished still. She motioning to her legs, the typical short stumps of a munchkin cat like herself, and shook her head with a laugh. "If running faster than you is what it takes, I'm afraid I'll be fox food."

She flicked her tail amused. "The fox can eat you then pick its teeth with me." she snorted and gave her unruly chest fur a quick once over with her pink tongue. "Alrighty where to Minstralpaw?" she motioned int he direction the medicine cat apprentice has been originally traveling before she rudely interrupted her adventure.

"I was thinking of heading towards the WinterClan border," she mewed, not explaining she'd been hoping to meet with the WinterClan Witch Earlybloom to do some training. "There are some berries and herbs that way that only grow in the cold and we're running low. If Chimerastar wants us to camp here for long, we'll need a basic stock of herbs for when someone gets hurt."

"I can also help you carry some extra to bring back." Maltedbarley meowed in agreement to the travel decision. "Lead the way then! Im sure you know what you are looking for!" she meowed pleased to be getting some exercise rather than wasting away around the camp. She hadn't wandered close to the WinterClan territory, as the cats she once knew them to be were pretty ruthless when it came to a fight. But who knows... things could have changed since then.

{ { sorry it took so long to reply! } }
"That will be really helpful," mewed Mistralpaw honestly, glad to have another set of paws to help out. Some of the herbs were extremely fragile and didn't travel well with some of the others. "How did you come to SwiftClan?" she asked, deciding a little small talk would help pass the time. As they walked, she kept her eye out for any budding herbs. The long leafbare had left them with a late bloom on many of the herbs they depended on regularly and were forced to make do with a stock that was subpar.
