Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Autumngossamer had been staying in DayClan's nursery for a few days with the two kits that had yet to be named, a she-kit and tom as well as with her mate Lovesmitten and eldest kit, Amberkit. From what Everlastingfire had been able to hear was that her kits were all stillborn, but Pandora had brought them back to life. According to multiple witnesses a SunClan spy had allowed Littlestar and Foxbane into the nursery where they paralyzed and drugged her. Unfortunately making someone who already had plenty of out of control hormones from pregnancy, plus depression more emotionally unstable from sedatives resulted in Autumn screaming at them and vowing to never return back to SunClan.
For the most part though she seemed actually happy and content in DayClan. She wasn't in the nursery, but instead at the outskirts of the tiny valley of camp sunning herself while the kits were feeding. Something she would have never felt brave enough to do in SunClan. However being out around the hill lands of Cadence was something Everlastingfire would have never known until this moment. He would be able to spot that the same DayClan cats walking past Autungossamer, but they weren't looking at her, they were looking at the surrounding areas. They appeared to have an entire secret service dedicated to protecting individuals that met in danger criteria.
"Autumngossamer, I'm sorry I missed the kitting," Everlastingfire said as he approached the new Queen. His brows furrowed when he counted only two kits at her side - back in SunClan, he had felt her stomach and counted at least four, likely more. He had a sinking suspicion that something was very wrong. Had it been a difficult labor? Were there stillborn kits? He wanted to ask but for once was afraid to, as silly as it sounded he would have felt guilty, he had promised to be there for her as Bloodyrondo but he had not. Maybe if he had been present things would have gone smoothly. Instead he had been at that stupid Renegade Regime party...
He placed a young rabbit in front of her as well as a little bundle of herbs tailored to ease the nerves of a nursing queen and sat down next to her. Having a better look at Autumngossamer's face now, he could tell something was off, she just looked... well, beyond tired. Not young mother tired, but broken. Everlastingfire knew of her curse but had never seen it take such a powerful hold over the soothsayer. He cleared his throat and decided to start simple, "So... what are their names?"
Autumngossamer moved the herbs away, "Yeah, thanks for the thought, but turns out herbs don't work on me thanks to that curse I got. Body betrays itself, won't let herbs take effect type of thing."
It was ironic, if she hadn't asked the Sun God to break her curse only for the kitting then Foxbane and Littlestar would have never been able to have sedated and paralyze her. In a sense she doomed herself for that fate even if it was Littlestar's distrust that made things worse, as per usual. "Their little no names for now, it's alright though, they'll get their names. I didn't have a name for the first few moons of my life and since they haven't opened their eyes, they'll be fine for now while I think. Why were you going to suggest Everlastingfire as a name?" Autumngossamer smirked, "Hey actually what gives with you trying to turn DayClan into sun followers? Like are you the Sun Gods son or something?"
She bit down into the rabbit removing a large chunk and placing it down next to Everlastingfire to lie down and share with her. There were rare moments where she was nice enough to share prey, but this moment seemed extremely rare, which was largely due to the fact that he had some sort of tie in SunClan. Had to stick together and all that gushy stuff.
It was really hard to convert an entire Clan to the Sun God's religion when he went around forcing awful curses on good cats. Sure, Autumgossamer had her flaws, but making her unable to benefit from herbs was a little cruel, even for Everlastingfire. Perhaps it was temporary? From what he knew of the curse, though, it did not seem likely. Pity flashed across his sunstone eyes as he accepted the herbs and put them out of sight.
"I mean, they are pretty good names. Firefall and Everlasinglove, after you and Lovesmitten." He was teasing, mostly, "I never understood why so many queens like to wait until their kits open their eyes to name them. Give them strong names now and they will grow into it, but anyway... to answer your question... No, I'm not the Sun God's son. Just a very devoted follower who he entrusted to convert DayClan. This Clan has been half way there for far too long; I'm here to take it all the way. Turns out there's a lot of other problems in DayClan that I didn't know about that need worked through first, though..."
Everlastingfire bent forward and took a small bite of the rabbit chunk, then took the hint and stretched out next to her. Presently he had toned down the fire show so he looked a bit more like a normal cat. No sparks, no cinders. That being said, he still was still drop dead gorgeous, he never let that illusion fade.
"A parent should only name their children after themselves if they're not going to be there. These kits will have a piece of Lovesmitten and I not because of their names, but because they have our love. Every moment they spend proud of who they are, that's our love empowering them. Every sad moment they're able to get back up onto their paws, that's our love willing them forward. Love isn't acquiring a name, it's feeling so undeniably powerfully to a heart outside of your own," Autumngossamer placed a paw over Everlastingfire's, "When SunClan kidnapped Glowstar she chose love over war. When SunClan enslaved DayClan they chose to peacefully leave rather than to make SunClan pay. After SunClan slaughtered DayClan's queens and stole their kits they still checked up on Foxstar when SunClan was worried about her capture in the Regime."
Autumngossamer's eyes were filled up with tears and it was clear she was talking about more than just SunClan and DayClan, "SunClan has the most amazing best friend any clan could ask for and they're just wasting their love in favor for titling DayClan the followers of the Sun God. Our clan is loved and you will never be able to win that back once it's lost. You'll have another backstabbing BrookClan, another meek NightClan, but you'll never find a friend anywhere in this world like DayClan. We've already won, but it's not DayClan's battle to make SunClan happy. That's up to us."
She hadn't felt the emotions coming until the tears built up over her sight. She had been an awful friend to Windchaser, ungrateful to her care, and putting her down to lift herself up temporarily. She wasn't the only one either, Foxbane had done the same to Glowstar and so many other countless SunClan and DayClan friendships. Since living in SunClan everything felt freeing, because nothing was anyone's fault. Her poor attitude wasn't her fault, it was Windchaser's for not being able to put up with her. DayClan's inability to be a part of SunClan's culture wasn't SunClan's fault, it was DayClan's for not wanting to drop everything for them. Autumngossamer believed in SunClan, but now that she had looked outside of herself she realized that they had created a culture where they were afraid to blame or take any responsibility for themselves. DayClan wasn't their best friend, DayClan was their only friend and they were about to lose them if they weren't careful.
(I really struggled with this reply... so Im sorry it's kind of garbage, my next one will be better :3)
Everlastingfire listened. He wasn't a very good at it, but this time he actually made an attempt, leaning in close, his ears angled toward the speaker's muzzle, his expression looking nothing like the God he tried to pass himself off as. It wasn't even a face Bloodyrondo would make. Full of worry and concern. Autumngossamer was normally such a fiery cat who he truly believed would face down the Sun God himself without batting an eye. He was pretty sure that she had done that, actually. But that was beside the point... she was hurting and he hated that there was nothing he could do about it.
"Autumngossamer, I..." What really was there to say? She had blindsided him. He didn't approach her to discuss politics, he just wanted to catch up with her, see how her kits were doing. Yet instead the floodgates had opened and he was treading water unfamiliar territory. Normally cats who spoke down to him like this were in for a lecture but Everlastingfire didn't have it in him to even try, not with Autumngossamer. He fell silent for some time but let her paw rest firmly over his, "... I don't know how to respond to your concerns... But I am here for you and I pray that you will make a smooth recovery from not just your delivery but also whatever it is that is plaguing your mind. SunClan only wishes for their relationship with DayClan to grow stronger and that's what I'm here to do. I can't fix what SunClan has done in the past but I can unite us all for a bright future where your and your kits can freely cross this the border without fear."
(Don't worry, I've been there, as in every time I reply there's always ONE rp where I'm just staring at it like >__> "I'll do better next time, but I'm moving on" xD And y'know for not listening Bloody sure tries to listen to people a lot, it's a nice gesture! And then there's moments like these where I'm like, "Eh, this really just warrants a short reply for this time around." lol)
Something about what he said triggered a scoff and then another and then laughed, "Are you serious? A bright future where I'm not afraid to cross borders, I do that all the time. The clans don't know anything about SunClan. I just tell them I'm a medicine cat and everyone buys it. I can walk wherever I want." Still she pressed her paw closer up against Everlastingfire's, "Either way though, I appreciate you coming out this way to see me and my kits. But I might decide that I'm staying here and not return to SunClan, I'm not really sure. I have a lot to think about and no offense, but I don't really know you so there's really no one around I can talk to about this. I just have to figure this out on my own..."
"Your place is in SunClan. I understand why you are here, but the Sun God chose you for a reason. It is your destiny to return." It's not like she really had the option to stay in DayClan anyway. If she did, she'd be marked for death and, even if she somehow got permission to remain, her kits would be taken away from her. No queen deserved that. Everlastingfire leaned in close to Autumngossamer, his fur brushing against hers, but it was not near as soft as it looked, "And for the record, you do know me. I had thought my future Soothsayer would have figured it out by now. Keep your head up and know I will always be there for you when you need me, okay?"
Light sparked in her eyes, a new fire in her heart, destiny. The Sun God gave her purpose, every time he punished her he forced her closer to what she was always fated to do. She needed to be the soothsayer the people of SunClan could rely on to be strong and not fall apart like this. The light in her eyes redirected to Everlastingfire as he continued talking. She looked him over once and then again a bit more clearly, this time understanding who he was.
For a moment she looked away defiantly, but all at once let go whispering a small "okay." She met his eyes once more, but the peace that once inhabited them was shattered and replaced with resigned acceptance, "I understand now, the Sun God will stop at nothing to put us and anyone else in their place. I've resisted following him obediently for a long time and have paid everything for it. But I think it's time I grow up and be submissive to my God and loyal to my leaders, like you. I need to be the soothsayer SunClan needs," Autumngossamer said. She moved to get to her paws, but felt her kits stir beside her stomach. She gently lied back down, once more, gracing each of them with a lick across their foreheads. "These two kits were stillborn, Littlestar and Foxbane felt the Sun God was punishing me by taking their lives. He wanted me to learn a lesson in being more grateful and honored in accepting motherhood, to not doubt his will in placing me as a mother. He wasn't going to bring them back, but Pandora did. They're alive against the Sun God's will, traitors for just living against his wishes."
The ginger she-cat was usually so fiery but the resigned look in her eyes, the defeated tone to her voice, it wasn't her. Everlastingfire's stomach twisted. For her, accepting the Sun God didn't seem so much as a rebirth but more of a forfeit. Why did it have to be this way? The Sun God was awe-inspiring, benevolent. He promised protection and bright futures to those who rightly worshipped him. Had Autumngossamer not been so defiant, perhaps she would have a full litter curled up next to her, in fact, they wouldn't even be having this conversation. She'd be in SunClan with the rest of the queens raising the next generation with the warmth of the sun surrounding them. But no... she had chosen this. Kits had died as a result. The Sun God had no choice, it was the only way to teach her a lesson, but it was just so...
Cruel?
No, the Sun God was good. He must have had a justified reason for what he did to Autumngossamer. As a holy being, there are some things that a mortal like Bloodyrondo could never understand. This must just be one of those things, "The Sun God acts in mysterious ways that not even a Soothsayer can always understand. I'm not going to defend his actions against you but know that he loves you... he wouldn't go through such lengths for your support otherwise. I will continue to pray for you and your little one's well-being and hope to see all three of you back home soon enough."
"Of course, thank-you for your kindness," Autumngossamer said, "When they're ready for the trip Lovesmitten and I will carry them back. Then I'll work on restoring my honor in SunClan."
Her eyes gleamed briefly, but she never let the amusement rise to her eyes. Instead she allowed her eyes to turn a bit teary, yet reassuringly certain. Acting was easy to do, as an apprentice in DayClan she always had to act sweet until she became disgustingly tired of being nice all the time and dropped the act. Now in SunClan it looked like she would have to do the same thing again. Until she showed the Sun God what she was made of. For now though she would have to be the beaten down she-cat, put in her place.
