With newleaf spreading through the clans, the creatures of the land were slowly rousing from their long sleeps through the leaf-bare, ambling through the fields and forests in search of something to eat. Unfortunately for them, so was Cherrypaw. The crimson apprentice trotted through the flower fields, giggling under her breath as she soft spring grass tickled her belly and stained her pelt. She was drunk on joy as the sun spilled over the land and warmed her fur. Settling down on a rock in the sun, she began to weave some of the wildflowers she found into a small circle, trying to keep it neat and tidy and instead getting a wild wreath of flowers she then carefully perched on her head. Standing there in the sun with a crown of flowers on her brow she looked every inch a woodland princess.
Tarn moved through a beautiful field of flowers, enjoying the day. She had traveled through this area for a while now and was planning to leave soon, but something about the beauty of this place had kept her here a little longer than normal. The nomad sniffed the air - it was intoxicating! She bounded forward quickly, enjoying the pull of her muscles as she ran through the field. Her cream and brown-point body moved effortlessly, and her bright blue eyes took in the lovely scene around her. At the other end of the field, she could see a cat. Excitedly, the loner moved forward. She loved to get to know other cats during her explorations, and she was interested to see what territory she was on at the moment.

Cherrypaw was so absorbed in her own actions she failed to see or scent the other cat until she was practically right up on her. "Hey!" she yelped in surprise, her crown falling to the rock beside her as she jumped to her paws, eyes wide. "Who are you? What are you doing on SpringClan territory?" She seemed equal parts curious and cautious, the fur along her spine ruffled but her eyes glowing with excitement.
The loner was excited to be acknowledged instead of chased away. "Hello!" she meowed happily. "I am called Tarn. I'm just a visitor." Tarn looked down at the band that had fallen from the other she-cat and pawed at it in curiosity. "So I'm in SpringClan then. What is your name, SpringClan cat?"
"I'm Cherrypaw!" chirped the she-cat brightly, though her eyes narrowed then Tarn pawed at her crown. "Hey!" she complained, reaching forwards to snag her prize back to safety. "Don't do that - it'll fall apart." She carefully replaced the crown on her head and grinned toothily, her young age apparent in her childlike actions. "Tarn, huh? You're not supposed to come on our territory, y'know. But I won't tell if you don't!"
Tarn stopped messing with the crown as it got yanked away. "Sorry," she said bashfully, perking back up again as Cherrypaw grinned widely. She playfully stepped closer to the SpringClan cat, sniffing at her pelt.
"You smell like flowers," Tarn purred. "I'll catch us something to eat if you'll make one of those flower headpieces for me! And you can warn me if one of your clanmates comes."

"Hmm..." Cherrypaw considered the proposition with all of the careful planning of one of such advanced age. "Deal!" she purred after a moment, prancing in a circle as though unable to contain her excitement. "Catch me something really good, okay? I've been having to eat the scraps since the queens and elders eat first." Her words were mulish, but looking at her form she didn't seem at all malnourished. "What color do you want?" she asked, moving forwards in the conversation without breaks. "I can make a pink one, or a purple one, or a blue one, or a pink one - wait, did I already say pink?" She looked around her at the myriad of flowers growing and then back at Tarn as though expecting an answer to her deluge of questions.
"Oh!" Tarn exclaimed, standing on the tips of her paws in excitement at Cherrypaw's agreement. "Blue of course! It will match my eyes."
She turned without another word and slowly crept off, beginning to smell the meadow for something besides flower scent. Everything she was catching whiffs of was either long gone or flower, and Tarn assumed their noise had scared off any nearby prey. She whispered over her shoulder, "Psst, Cherrypaw. Let's hush for a moment. I think we've run off all the good stuff."

Cherrypaw was quick to get to work after Tarn decided on her color, humming under her breath as she strung together flower after flower, braiding their stems together to form an intricate wreath. She lifted her head at Tarn's quiet request and nodded, pausing in her work so the visitor could fetch some lunch. She hoped she would get something meaty - maybe a rabbit? Or better yet, a sparrow or dove. While Tarn hunted, she ranged around for more blue flowers, using her vantage point from atop the rock to gaze over the flower field.
Tarn was eventually able to catch something. She found a vole and a caught some type of small bird and proudly returned to Cherrypaw, prey dangling from her mouth. The she-cat dropped them in front of the SpringClan cat and pushed the dead creatures toward her. "Here, you take first pick," she said, ignoring the food to examine the flowers Cherrypaw was banding together. "Can we make this small and tight? I want to wrap it around my tail." Tarn's tail was just a little ball against her flank, and she had never been self conscious that other cats had longer tails while she did not. If anything, it made her special. She wanted to decorate it with the flowers.

"Ooh, what a good idea!" Cherrypaw eyed Tarn's stubby tail and began to deftly weave the stems together much more tightly, nipping off the long ends with her teeth until all that remained was a small band of blue flowers which she carefully placed where Tarn had directed for it to go. "It's perfect!" she chirped, inspecting her handiwork proudly. "I'll take the vole, if it's okay!" She didn't wait and instead began to dig into the fresh prey with gusto, warm on the sunny rock and pleased with her company.
"Of course that's okay," Tarn said, pleased with Cherrypaw's enthusiasm. Now that the apprentice and her were on such good terms, she settled into her own meal and decided to approach her reason for being here. Between bites, she began to speak. "So Cherrypaw, do SpringClan cats follow any religion?"

Cherrypaw tucked in to the vole with gusto, purring. It had been a while since she'd had fresh prey, and it seemed to taste better than anything else she'd ever eaten. "Uh..." mewed the apprentice, chewing thoughtfully. "I guess we follow StarClan. I don't think the leaders care if we worship them or not though. Why do you ask?"
Tarn finished her bird and looked over at the small flower loop on her tail, admiring it before speaking. "This is really well done, Cherrypaw. Thanks." The loner turned her bright blue gaze to the SpringClan cat. "I have heard of StarClan. Where I come from, we worship someone else. I was sent away from my group to spread His word."

"Thanks!" chirped Cherrypaw, her cheeks heating a little at the praise. She was contentedly sunning herself on the rock when Tarn spoke up again. Cracking an eye open to glance over at the other she-cat, she asked, "You don't worship StarClan? Who do you worship then?" She'd never heard of anyone worshiping anything other than StarClan, and felt her curiosity rise at the idea.
The loner smiled widely at the question, following Cherrypaw's lead and laying herself down to sun. It was so warm and her belly was comfortably full. "Well," said Tarn, licking one paw slowly and methodically. "The one I worship is called 'The Green One'. He has many faces and names. There is something for every cat when they follow him."
