Calamitystar concluded the ceremonies by chanting Soothingfall's new name rather loudly then sauntering over to his new apprentice. "You're going to have loads of fun, I promise!"
Firepaw could only blink in surprise, which immediately resulted in a tinge of pain. He had just finished receiving treatment on his fairly recent burns, and now he was to suffer even more by being the leader's apprentice? He looked around, noticing a few gazes on him, which normally would have thrilled him. But were they staring because of who his mentor was, or because of his face?
Legendarypaw felt his heart fall in his chest once his mentor was announced, which immediately quenched the excitement of being promoted. He had witnessed Jayjack around other apprentices plenty enough, and heard many stories. Of all the rotten luck, he had to be stuck with this tom as a mentor.
