Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
It was a huge surprise when Calamitystar had, quite awkwardly, left the group of cats in charge as the leader ran off with the rest of the staff and aurulents. It was such a shock that it had taken Pumpkinpaw a whole hour to actually process that she was now in charge for the entire day - or, however long it was until everyone came back. Really, it wasn't a surprise that the first thing she thought of doing with her new authority was to demand food. So, with her chest puffed out and her head held high, the orange tabby marched up to the first cat she saw. "Hey! You! Go get me some food!" If it was possible, she tilted her head further up, the angle forcing her eyes closed. Was she being too rude? Wasn't a leader supposed to be nice? "...please?" she added after a moment. Wow, her neck was getting sore.
(I have no idea what happened to make the leader run off with a group of staff but I'm gonna roll with it)
The auburn siamese had been lost in thought while grooming his shoulders when a voice cut through the peace and quiet. He stopped for a moment, frozen in the position of his head craned around to reach his shoulders and tongue mid-stroke. What Pumpkinpaw didn't see was the roll of Flintfeather's eyes before he turned to face the apprentice. "You have four perfectly capable legs. Go get it yourself, squirt." He replied, tone hinting at his annoyance of being interrupted. It had certainly been the first time he'd been ordered to do something by an apprentice, that was for sure.
The way he spoke was nearly enough to send Pumpkinpaw scurrying back to the dens with her tail between her legs, and she nearly did, until her stomach growled and she remembered her mission. Right, she could do this! She took a moment, gulping back her fear as she resumed her stance once more, though she wasn't really aware of when she dropped it. "Calamitystar went camping for the day, and left me in charge!" she said. Flintfeather didn't need to know that she was only one of four cats that he placed in charge, although if she had a hard time believing what had happened then she had a feeling that he wasn't going to believe it at all. Seriously, it was only by chance that she was part of the group.

"Heheh, Pumpkinpaw, you're doing this all wrong, you little nut." Shorthalt purred, whiskers twitching in amusement as he sauntered up to the two. "Ughh I need some entertainment." He sighed and leaned heavily on the little cat. "Flintfeather, do you have any party ideas? I think we should throw a party!"
Luckily Shorthalt was a small cat, otherwise Pumpkinpaw may have just tipped over. She almost did initially, but caught herself after the surprise. She was about to say something, but whatever it was had been left on her tongue as the tom mentioned 'party'. Immediately, her eyes lit up, picturing the food that would likely be present. "Yes! Lets throw a party!" she exclaimed. "We need food! Lots of food! Oooh wait. What if we made a giant ball and put the food in it, and we whacked it with sticks until it all fell out!"

Shorthalt gave the apprentice a curious, and somewhat perplexed glance. What was with this small child and food? He gave a shrug. After a moment, his eyes lit up and he spun around to face her. "Hey, you know, I think you might be onto something! That might actually be fun!"
A wide smile formed on the ever hungry apprentice's face, and she began bouncing in place. "This is going to be so fun!! What else should we do? Games? We need games! What kind of games?" The words were leaving Pumpkinpaw's mouth quickly, it was a wonder how her mind even kept up. "Oooh what about truth or dare? Is that a fun game? I've never actually played it before!"

"Woah, woah, woah. Slow your roll small fry. Let's start with the giant ball food thing first." He turned his attention to whatever nearby group of warriors. "Hey you, go get some branches that can be woven together, pronto."
Deerpelt raised an eyebrow as he walked over to the freshkill pile, a small bird in his jaws. He dropped it before replying to Shorthalt, "May I ask what you need branches for?" The small spotted tom had just returned from a hunting patrol and had been looking forward to a break, and now he was being ordered to find...sticks? He didn't mind helping his new clanmates, but the request was certainly strange.
Shorthalt's dismissiveness of her ideas had Pumpkinpaw sulking, but then her attention was brought to Deerpelt. "For food for the party, of course!" she replied. "I can't tell you about the food ball though, because that's a surprise! We've gotta celebrate my one day of leadership!" It was amazing how fast she was back to her normal cheerful self with just the thought of food, but it was what her entire life seemed to revolve around.
Food ball? One day of leadership? The warrior's gaze shifted from Shorthalt to the apprentice next to him. He believed her name was Pumpkinpaw, but he wasn't as familiar with the apprentices here yet as he was with his fellow warriors. And he didn't even know all of their names yet either!
Yup, this was just too weird for Deerpelt today. He awkwardly nodded along as Pumpkinpaw spoke her gibberish. Not wanting to hurt her feelings by being rude, he said, "I guess I can find some branches. But only because I'm a little curious."

"OUR one day of leadership, Pumpkinpaw. Don't forget that." Shorthalt reminded her before giving a wink to Deerpelt. "Doesn't a food ball sound exciting?! I was thinking we could also have some dancing and maybe some... gambling?" Anywho, thank you for getting those branches. I promise you won't regret it."
Deerpelt eyed the two suspiciously before shrugging. He turned to search the vicinity for some flexibly sticks, shaking his head as he went along. A food ball wasn't particularly exciting, but it was definitely curious. Whatever sort of strange party his new clanmates were planning, the ex-SunClan tom was sort of happy to be a part of. He hadn't partaken in celebrations or clan games since he'd joined FallClan.
Watching Deerpelt start gathering the sticks, Pumpkinpaw turned back to Shorthalt with a confusion clear on her face. "What's gambling?" she asked. Perhaps it was a game? She doubted that it could ever be better than the food ball, but maybe it would be fun anyway? Speaking of the food ball, did they have enough food to fill it with? Did they need to catch more? The ginger tabby glanced at the fresh kill pile, judging the size. They didn't even know how big the ball would be, so maybe it would be enough?
Deerpelt brought back a mouthful of sticks, dropping them at Shorthalt's paws. He caught Pumpkinpaw's gaze on the freshkill pile and smiled. "If you're planning on some kind of party, you should really make sure the clan still has enough to eat after in case something goes wrong. Would you like to go try to catch some prey with me to add?" The warrior was getting into the feeling of being involved now.

"Ah, don't worry about it, kit. You'll know one day." Shorthalt responded with a chuckle, patting Pumpkinpaw's head with his tail. "Now, Deerpelt is correct! We need a lot of food for this party!" There was a determined flash in his eyes but everyone knew he wasn't going to do the work himself.
This was great, the two warriors seemed to really be getting into this idea. Albeit the party itself was Shorthalt's idea, but at least they liked her food ball idea! Pumpkinpaw nodded enthusiastically, her mind running through all of the different types of prey they could shove into the twig ball. "Yes! Lets go!" she said. Hopefully her stomach would be quiet long enough for them to catch some good prey, but with her endless void of a stomach it wasn't all that likely.
"Great," said Deerpelt, grinning at the hungry apprentice. He took off at a gentle lope toward the entrance of camp, expecting that Pumpkinpaw would be behind him. Hopefully they could bring enough back to please Shorthalt. He immediately slowed his gait as the left the immediate vicinity of the camp, not wanting to scare off any nearby prey. Deerpelt began scenting the air for that familiar delicious smell.
Pumpkinpaw immediately took off after Deerpelt, then paused for a moment, looking over her shoulder at Shorthalt. "Are you coming too?" she asked, because she honestly had no idea how much work the short tom was going to put in, but she didn't even wait for an answer before shooting off after the other warrior again. Unlike Deerpelt, however, she didn't slow down as she approached, instead she came to a sudden stop when she ran face-first into him, sending herself tumbling into the ground none too quietly.
Deerpelt didn't stop when Pumpkinpaw did, moving without her on the hunt for some prey instead. She'd catch back up. He had just caught a scent when the apprentice hit him from behind and the two went sprawling into the ground. "Hey!" he cried, embarrassed that he'd been knocked over. The warrior picked himself up and dusted off his fur, covering his embarrassment with irritability. "How are we gonna find food if you scare it all away, huh?" simplylightlavellan
