racer Moonlitnocturne was one of the better runners despite his shorter frame. Must have been because he spent so much time running. Just like today. The Mating Ceremony was coming to a close, the sun slipping out of the sky. Sticking out against the dark grass, he didn't stop. He didn't even know where he was running, the world a mix of dark and light. Tears stung his eyes. It was all too much, all one big trick. They could say all they wanted, Moonlit knew it was practiced. A speech. He couldn't believe in anything else but the pounding blood in his ears. He was past the border, but the smell of Sunclan followed him.

Littlestar
SunClan High Priestess
The Peace Keeper
Moonlitnocturne wasn't the only one leaving the mate choosing ceremony in a rush. After her fight with Bloodyrondo, all Littlestar wanted was to be left alone. Anger rolled off of her in crushing waves consuming all other feelings that threatened to surface in a infernal blaze. After a while she had even ordered her mate to leave her be, in order to keep him safe from the ever growing rage within.
It hardly even registered that she had left SunClan behind until the unfamiliar landscape began to sink in. This wasn't their holy land blessed by the sun god... instead the endless expanse of the desert wasteland was laid out before her. Yet it made little sense... the scent of SunClan was still strong here, Perking her ears up and focusing her eyes up ahead, the figure of Moonlitnocturne came into view... Unfortunately for him, Littlestar was not acting very rational at this point. Her first thought was that he decided to take the opportunity to desert.
A growl rose in her throat, without hesitation she charges at the tom claws unsheathed

Even as he ran, it only got worse. Moonlitnocturne could only consider why briefly before he felt claws pull at the fur on the back of his legs briefly. Now panic entered the mix of his mind, and it left him changing directions rapidly to get the threat off of him. He couldn't let himself get pinned, not again. The figure of Littlestar was caught in his peripherals, and he wouldn't have believed it if he didn't get a clearer look when he turned. Of course, he had no idea about the business with Bloodyrondo and Satinpaw yet. All he knew was that he was getting chased down again.
"Hey! Hey! Damn, you people are stubborn. Why can't you just let a nonbeliever go?" He asked rhetorically, not expecting any semblance of an answer he could understand. Just as he was getting a second wind, the ground gave way underneath him. One of his back legs slipped into a hole and the force of stopping knocked the energy out of him. Pulling against it, he was able to get his leg out but not before Littlestar descended on him.

Littlestar
SunClan High Priestess
The Peace Keeper
"Sun God guide my paws, and give me the strength not to kill him" she prayed silently, just as Moonlitnocturne began to fall. Not one to loose such an opportunity she leapt landing upon him with claws unsheathed although she held back from piercing his skin with the poison that laced them "I think it's best that you start talking" she growled.
As a janus, Moonlitnocturne would know to be careful of her claws but in his current predicament it would only take a small movement for her to imbolize him if it came down to it "because from this angle it looks like you are making a run for it"

Moonlitnocturne knew, it was why he still struggled some against Littlestar's grip. It was the closest yet farthest away from death he had never felt, the needle-like claws pricking lightly at his skin. It would never be that simple. "What's there to talk about?" The once Janus ignored the pain striking every nerve in his leg, like they all had been pulled out and then shoved back in. "Yeah, I'm leaving. What of it?"

A growl rose in her throat, her claws itching to dig in, to release even a little of the stress and tension that she was carrying from the days events "You know you are a lot of things, but I didn't pin you as a coward" she lowered her teeth down to where they grazed upon his neck "Even now with your life in my paws there is no fear in your eyes. So tell me, what is it that you are running from?"

Moonlitnocturne held still, even as her teeth grazed him. Course there was no fear, what was there to fear now? This place would never lose its bite, he had simply gotten used to the pain. With how jittery he was earlier, it must not have been that surprising that he leaned away again. But then he wrenched his head up, slamming his own skull into Littlestar's. His vision dotted, he was almost used to it. It's what got him out of her grasp. "What does it matter?" As he talked, his jaw hurt from the impact.

Littlestar took a step back, dazed from the hard hit on her her head as she turned from him "Of course it matters" she curled her tail around her paws "Despite what you might think of me, I really would rather not have to kill you in cold blood. I'm trying to give you an out, and all you do is push me away just like you do everyone else in your life" she sighed "Let me guess, JetClaw?"

Moonlitnocturne pulled himself back a few feet, far enough to where he couldn't be caught in one leap but close enough to where he didn't need to yell to be heard. Even when she sat down, he didn't flinch. This was the game she wanted to play, huh? Even if he knew it was rigged, what else could he do? He had to play. Though his expression shifted further and further into displeasure the more she talked. "Oh. Why? You need a reason to justify it to yourself before you go to sleep? What about all the others burned for the sake of the Sun? You can only keep hiding behind that self-righteous reasoning for so long." Moonlit's tail thrashed behind him as his tone got harsher. But all at once, it stopped and he sighed. "Whatever. You can keep painting me in whatever light you think is real, but it's not. I don't need to justify my actions." Like a light switch, he became eerily calm, practically devoid of emotion. He thought briefly of Jetclaw and closed his eyes. "Besides, it's better this way, no? No having an unbeliever as your brother-in-law. No one ready to kill your promised in an instant. No kit killer. Pretty good trade for letting a coward run, huh?"
