Blossomkit let out a large yawn and padded out of the Nursery. She was quite young to be exploring on her own, but she felt like a change of scenery would be nice. The thoughtful little babe glanced around, watching in awe as the clan bustled about. "Oh, excuse me, I'm so sorry." She meowed as she accidentally bumped into several cats.
Everything part of the story-teller's body ached in protest, urging the russian blue tom back to the comforts of his den, but the ex-warrior had grown antsy of napping away his days. Aside from that, he could hear Fawnheart's words nag at him to get more exercise. The story-teller's sapphire blue eyes gazed the busy camp and he couldn't help but let out a distasteful grunt. Far too many cats for his taste out and about at this time, but he proceeded anyway, slowly making his way through the camp. Some of the cats he passed offered small acknowledgements of respects or friendly "good mornings", but the grumpy story-teller barley acknowledged him, only offering the smallest of nods before making his way towards the fresh kill pile.
A sudden bump at his leg caused his aged heart to bounce hard against his chest, unaware that a rather small figure had made her way towards him "Watch where you are goin-" He began to scold, looking down to see the flame-pointed Siamese. The familiar sight made his heart race to a different beat. "You must be Blossomkit." His tone melted suddenly, his words soft and abnormally gentle as he took in the small kit with extreme interest. He had heard the news of Beedust's delivery, but had yet the opportunity to see the kits for himself, but the kit's unique blue eyes were familiar, too familiar.

Big blue eyes, round like moons stared up at the story-teller in awe and interest. From one look, she knew this cat just had to be important and wise. "Yes, that is I." She said a little over-formerly, giving a small bow in greeting. It was almost too adorable the way the cream-furred kitten showed politeness towards the older cat. Blossomkit had unknowingly been listening in on the banter between the cats in the Nursery and picked up a few extra courtesies. There was no telling if she was aware of the formality or not. "May I ask your name? I heard that is a good thing to know someone's name after meeting. It makes them feel good." She gave a little purr and gazed up at him expectantly.
Sapphiresmoke shook his head, as to snap him out of past memories. This kit was not Blossomflight, despite donning her pretty blue eyes. He watched as the young kit took a deep bow, forcing a scoff of surprise to escape his mouth. It seems as though the younger generation still had some level of respect. The sight was oddly endearing.
"Sapphiresmoke." The story-teller spoke up, his name rolling off his tongue proudly. "You seem to be very knowledgeable in your manners." He huffed, sitting back against his haunches which protested in aching pain, but he ignored it, having been used to the aging pains for a while now. It was no surprise to see such a well mannered kitten come from a rather diplomatic and well-mannered leader like Thistlestar. "Your parents are teaching you well."

Blossomkit's eyes sparkled at his compliment and she suddenly grew quite bashful. "Well, you know, I love listening to my father speak in front of the clan. I hope I can be as emotionally pigeon-ed as him in the future." She had meant to say 'emotionally poised' (one of those new lines she had picked up) but didn't quite remember how it went when the time came to say it. The buttercup kitten hardly noticed, though. "Sapphiresmoke... That is a lovely name."
Everything about the kit's manners and spirit was reminiscent of Blossomflight. The similarity was both frightening and wondrous. "You are your grandmother's granddaughter, no doubt." Sapphiresmoke laughed softly, his eyes softening as memories of the past distracted him for a slight moment. The excitement that warrior would have had to see her grandchildren. The thought made the russian blue tom sad. She was far too young when she passed away. He remembered that day well. It came as a shock to all of Springclan, especially him.

The cream kitten placed her paw gently on Sapphiresmoke's much larger paw and blinked up at him, sympathy brimming in her gaze. She did not know her grandmother but was always honored when told she resembled her. From what little she did know, Blossomflight was a well-loved cat in Springclan. "If you don't mind, Sapphiresmoke, could you tell me some stories about her? Father sometimes tells me, but I know it must be hard... I would love to be just like her for him."
The touching notion surprised the older cat, his beautiful blue eyes wide as he took in the small figure at his paws. Her words were touching and genuine, making the old man's heart melt. He never had kits, nor was he interested, but moments like this almost made him feel regretful of that decision.
"You want to hear about your grandmother?" He asked, his tail flickering in a small show of amusement. He looked away for a moment, a pensive look across his expression as he thought of his old friend "Where to start..." He murmured quietly, thinking hard on the the hazy memories before finding the oldest one "I met her when she was a kit, probably around your age." His words were followed by a soft laugh "I had been an apprentice for a while already, nearing my warrior ceremony when your grandmother tumbled her way out of the nursery and into the apprentice den. I was sleeping, tired I think from training for the day when suddenly I felt tiny jabs at my side-" He mimicked the jabs, nudging Blossomkit over and over again teasingly, prodding her hard enough to make her almost fall over, but soft enough that it didn't hurt "I thought 'Who is trying to start a fight with me? Starclan help the cat that is interrupting my nap' and when I opened my eyes I saw a light colored Siamese kit with big blue eyes the color of cornflowers." He laughed as the memory became clearer "She was looking for a new playmate, her litter mates were being to rough If I recall correctly." He thought hard. The reason could have been wrong, he couldn't quite remember but he went along with it. It was something Blossomflight would have done anyways "Your grandmother was a lover, not a fighter, always being careful and caring of those around her."

Blossomkit let out a series of giggles as he jabbed at her, letting the joy of hearing about her blue-eyed grandmother as a kit wash over her. She loved hearing stories about Blossomflight and her other ancestors. It was like for a moment they were right there next to her, listening with eager ears. "I understand that." Blossomkit finally breathed softly, shaking her head. "Fighting with my littermates or with other clans seems wrong... I wish everyone could get along, but I've heard that's a silly wish, isn't it? It's just our nature to sometimes bicker."
Sapphiresmoke smiled down at the kit, taking in her perspective with interest. "No Blossomkit, it isn't silly to wish for peace." The elder spoke kindly "But you can't discredit the importance of fighting. A true warrior doesn't fight to start battles, they fight to defend their loved ones, the clan and the code. It is the way we can protect everything that we cherish in the world." Sapphiresmoke smiled at the kit, noting the remaining concern "Right now, it is in all fun and games. You are all still so young, enjoy the time you have now before you turn into a rickety old ball of fur like me and have to deal with achy limbs and boring afternoons alone."

Blossomkit blinked in awe at his wisdom and nodded silently. He was right, of course. Not that she would ever question the words of an elder. "Yes, I see. I wish you had less boring afternoons. Being an elder is a great honor, but it should be fun. What fun games do elders play?" She imagined that their games were much different than her own. Kit games were always rough and rowdy. A part of her thought that peaceful games sounded much more exciting.
The kit's innocent question brought an eruption of laughter from the elder as he glanced around the empty den "I really don't have much company to play with" He mused outloud. As morbid as the context of his words were, they were spoken with peaceful ease. Sapphiresmoke had seen many cats in his lifetime move onto to Starclan, so the idea of death had lost it's power to faze the elder.
"Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever played any games as an elder." He pondered out loud, exaggerating his surprise for the sake of the kit "What are some games you kits play now a days?"
