Firewind sat outside the camp listening to the night sounds. A partial hung in the sky just above the treetops. Now that Newleaf was finally here the night air didn't feel as cold although is still cooled off considerably since the sun had set. For some reason he hadn't assigned himself to one of the night patrols this night. He was feeling a little melancholy but he didn't really know why. A soft sound came to his ears coming from the direction of the camp, so he turned his head to see who it was.
Wolffire laid tossing and turning in his nest. The 15-moon old warrior was unable to sleep, his paws ached to do something, anything really. He hadn't been assigned any patrols for the night, but that didn't matter to him. He sighed as she opened his eyes, sat up to smooth out his ruffled fur. He rose to his paws and shook out is pelt, before making his way out of the warrior's den and towards the camp entrance.
As he neared the entrance he could make out the figure and scent of his clan-mate Firewind, The Clan deputy. He reached the entrance and paused for a moment before pushing his way out. "Greetings, Firewind." He replied as he dipped his head to the deputy out of respect.

"Good evening," Firewind replied after recognizing Wolffire. A light breeze rustled the dead leaves on the ground left over from last Leaffall. Even though the sun had set, the breeze still held a little warmth. "Nice night for early Newleaf, don't you think?" He looked into the woods and then back at Wolffire. "Can't sleep? Maybe I should have put you on a patrol." There was a note of playful teasing in his voice.

"Yes, I would have to agree." Wolffire replied with a nod of his head in approval. "Nope I can't. I wouldn't have minded." He replied with a soft chuckle. "You can put me on any kind of patrol, whenever you want." He said seriously.

Firewind rose to his paws and stretched so hard his tail quivered. "Well then, how about now? I've sent patrols to our borders with SunClan and MoonClan tonight. I was going to leave the rogue borders to the west and north until tomorrow. But now is a good time as any to check them out. Want to come with me?"

ROLEPLAY
Wolffire listened to Firewind and at the mention of a patrol, nodded his head. "Yes, I would like to go with you." He said as he swished his tail back and forth with a gleam in his eyes. He stretched his muscles on at a time, slowly getting all the kinks out, before shaking his pelt and waited for Firewind to lead the way.

"Good. Let's go," Firewind meowed as he headed toward the west. "There's been reports of some poaching going on. That was a week ago but no one's actually caught anyone yet." His neck fur ruffled at the thought of rogues stealing their prey. They have plenty of places in the roguelands to hunt, he thought. They don't need to come on our land and steal what's ours!

Wolffire followed after the other tom. "Well, I hope we can, and I hope those rogue stay on their land and leave us alone." He replied gruffly as he continued down the familiar path.

It wasn't long until the pair reached the western border. "Keep all your senses alert," Firewind meowed knowing that their eyes would need a lot of help with the fog that covered their land. "Listen for strange sounds but especially sniff for unwelcome scents." Their ears would help but especially their noses were needed for this task.
| Roleplay: Wolffire nodded his head and perked his ears up as they came to the western border of the territory. "Ok." He simply said in reply as he began to listen and sniff around to see if he could find any prey or enemy scent.

Firewind paused at a bush that was at the border and marked it. "There, that should help tell strange cats that this land is ours." He walked farther along the western border now heading south when he stopped and examined a tree trunk. There was a tuft of black fur stuck in the bark. He gave it a sniff and growled. "It'd definitely cat fur and not NightClan," he hissed. "But it's not too fresh. Maybe from sometime this morning." The scent was beginning to fade. "Look around and see if you can find any other signs of trespass."
