Commander Shule really hadn't been expecting to be taking a cat back to SunClan ever. Nor did she expect to be sitting at their border, waiting, an annoying kit in her jaws that was trying in vain to both insult her and try to get free.
Thankfully, Funkson, so the tiny child claimed their name to be, was still young enough to be held this way. They were quite obnoxious however, and Shule really debated just letting them go and run into the territory on their own. But, though that might have been a good idea, she refrained, mostly because she wanted to tell SunClan to keep this 'Janus' away from the tunnels, because they were causing problems. Would she be so lucky as to get someone who would listen? Who knew. Things had been.. tense between the two since Shule had taken one of Foxbane, then Foxstar's lives, and the former SunClan Priestess had been imprisoned for moons in their Prison due to attacking the group, and failing in their war attempt.
Littlestar had only been back in SunClan for a moon after her journey of harmony with Skipstep, and since then her days had been spent trying to fix all the mistakes that had been made during her absence. Cats had been rescued from the tunnels, she had met with Glowstar in an attempt to mend things, her daughter had been placed into lock down to keep her away from Bloodyrondo.
Which is what had led them to this moment. She had left camp in order to get a little bit of peace and quiet, but her promised had followed her once again to plead his case of why he should be allowed to become mates with Satinlights even though it broke several rules. However what had hurt Littlestar the most was that he had tried to hide it all from her, for that she would make him sweat
"Bloodyrondo for the last time. ...." suddenly she trailed off seeing Shule standing there with Funkson in her jaws. She tensed. her immediate reaction to retaliate and deliver him from harm, but the mere fact that she was here and he was unharmed made her hesitate "Shule... What is the meaning of this?" she would give the she-cat a chance to explain, but she better have a good explanation
Bloodyrondo just could not understand what Littlestar's problem was. Honestly, his pairing with Satinlights could not have been more perfect, and it seemed the Sun God himself had blessed their union by naming her a Janus. Age seemed to be the biggest problem here which was just plain hypocritical. There was a much bigger age gap between Jetclaw and Moonlitnocturne yet no one batted a lie when those two hooked up.
"You're being unreas---" He began to reply when Shule and Funkson came into sight. He had seen Shule at gatherings but the Regime she-cat had always been cold to him. The ginger Priest Promised immediately bristled, assuming the worst automatically. The only reason Bloodyrondo did not lunge for Funkson right away was because Littlestar was there and he could read her body language well enough to that he should stay put... for now.
"Funkson, are you okay?! That Regime rat didn't hurt you, did she?"

The second they neared, Shule let her jaws release, allowing Funkson to run over to them.
Funkson, of course, gave Bloodyrondo an exasperated look as they immediately settled in between their half-sibling's paws. "No, they didn't!" The young Janus answered incredulously, turning their celadon eyes to glare at the Commander who had held them. It was pretty well known that the Funk look-alike tried to goad others into hurting them because they found it fun. Apparently, the Regime cats hadn't taken the bait, as the painted bengal didn't have a single scratch on them. Their scruff was a bit sore from being carried, but that was hardly a fulfilling pain. "Darkcomplex wouldn't even entertain the thought of trying to convince them to attack!" That last part the Janus had said was interesting, to say the least. Darkcomplex had been missing from SunClan for over a moon and a half, but clearly, the former initiate seemed in good standing with the Regime if Funkson had managed to just happen upon him.
Shule watched the Janus for a long moment before passing their gaze over the Priest Promised entirely. From what she knew of him, and had heard, he really was just an arrogant mess, and it was best to just ignore him, rather than get angry. She had no idea why her son Dusky liked Bloodyrondo at all, to be honest, but she couldn't change who he found to be his friend, even if she didn't particularly appreciate this cat. "This kit, or Janus, as they seem to be calling themself, has been quite the annoyance as of late. As the new Commander of the Regime, I thought it best to come and address this personally before it gets out of paw. Funkson has been trying to steal our herbs and goad our Mercenaries into either imprisoning them, or attacking. However, we're not in the business of harming wayward children, despite what your companion seems to think. Please take care to keep them out of our tunnels in the future." Her tone, though serious, wasn't condescending. The Commander didn't have any quarrel with Littlestar directly, and had no reason to think she'd sent Funkson to cause trouble at this current moment.

Littlestar
SunClan High Priestess
The Peace Keeper
Littlestar sighed at the she-cat's explanation, apparently everyone had been allowed to run amuk during her absence "Thank you Commander Shule for returning them to us. I apologize for any inconvenience that they may have caused. I have been away for the past moon, but rest assured Funkson shall be disciplined of their actions" her gaze narrowed on the young Janus, her mind swirling with what to do with them to keep them in line. The young cat had been nothing but trouble since their promotion
"I need to return him to camp, but perhaps you and I can meet here same time tomorrow? I would like to replace the herbs they have destroyed and give you some fresh-kill for your troubles" While Littlestar could be a fearsome enemy, she was also quick to reward those that did right by her clan. Shule could just as easily have kept them captive and started a war, but it seemed this commander was choosing a different path than her predecessor.
Bloodyrondo looked his half-sibling over for wounds and was pleased to find that they were unharmed. He gave the Janus a few licks on the top of their head as the young cat spoke of their experience in the Regime and he tensed slightly at the mention of Darkcomplex. No one knew what had become of him so he had not officially been marked for death but, with Funkson's revelation, it seemed to Bloodyrondo that he had indeed deserted SunClan. It made him feel a little bad for Duskslayer, not that Bloody himself would hesitate to fulfill his duty should the opportunity arise.
Satisfied with his inspection, the Priest Promised lifted his head only to find Shule's eyes on him. He held her gaze like it was a challenge and his lip curled slightly, showing of his sharp canine teeth as a threat. Unlike Funkson, the Priest Promised did not look very much like his dad, but it was all too easy to recognize him as a spawn of Funk with those celadon green eyes. That sour expression, though, that was all Bloody.
"Aren't you going to hear Funkson's side of the story first?" Bloodyrondo asked Littlestar when she finished speaking, "Shule could be lying as a way to get access to our herbs. It's no secret that the Renegade Regime is literally starving right now. Who knows what sort of trickery they'll resort to to fill their stomachs." Next he met Shule's gaze again, "Perhaps if you prayed to the Sun God you wouldn't have that sort of problem."

Littlestar
SunClan High Priestess
The Peace Keeper
Littlestar gave Bloodyrondo a hard stare, deciding to use the moment to teach him some diplomacy. Knowing that he hated being scolded in public, perhaps this would drive the lesson home to him "What I see is a wayward kit who has been allowed to do what he pleased in my absence. We will speak with them later. If you are ever going to be even a half-way decent father then you have a lot to learn" she growled, referring to the fact that he was still padding after her daughter "When you act like this you just add another reason to my list of why the two of you shouldn't be together. At this rate you'll still be mooning over her as a senator" her tail lashed meaning every last word of it. If he wanted to be with Satinlights he needed to grow up and learn to hold his tongue
Forcing her fur to lie flat and regaining her composure, she turned to Shule "We have plenty to share, and SunClan always pays their debts. This isn't a gift, merely repayment for the kindness you have shown this little one. You have lost valuable time and resources to return Funkson to their clan" SunClan always had plenty of prey and herbs, one of the many advantages of being blessed by the Sun God. Besides, she was worried about Duskslayer. In returning to his family he would starve right alongside them

Shule would have said something to Bloodyrondo then if Littlestar hadn't intervened. Luckily, the Commander was used to schooling her expression into practiced neutrality, such that she doubted either of them would have noticed her subtle shift forward in the space of the heartbeat before the Priestess spoke again. Briefly, she wondered if training Volontaire would be so... difficult. She hoped not. Then again, she wouldn't tolerate such disrespect either, and her Scout Superior would find himself demoted if he made such a mistake more than once.
She gave a short nod as Littlestar spoke to her once more, and rose to her paws. "I shall leave you to your clan then, and be here tomorrow." The Commadner answered simply. It could be a trap, but she didn't sense any sort of deceit in the Priestess' tone. If she had, she probably would have refused the offer.

Littlestar dipped her head turning to the two cats that now stood before her as Shule turned to leave "Now Funkson... You have a lot of explaining to do. Why were you in the Regime's tunnels?" she began walking back towards the Janus camp, expecting the young cat to keep up and Bloodyrondo to follow
Littlestar just had to bring up his relationship with Satinlights in front of an enemy group leader. Like, seriously, was the point in that? To make him angry? Well, it worked. He caught that gleam in Shule's eye and his cheeks burned with embarrassment. He literally had to bite his tongue to hold back an insult, but he wasn't about to air his dirty laundry in front of an outsider like Littlestar was, so he waited until Shule was out of earshot before he spoke next, "Littlestar, that was unprofessional to bring up personal problems in front of Commander Shule." He said firmly, then changed subjects before she could comment, "But I will always trust a clanmate before an outsider, even if they're just a kit. At least we both agree that Funkson needs to share their experience."

Funkson, of course, sort of watched this with a sense of curiosity, even as they were the one addressed. After all, they were watching two of their siblings fight, it was all very interesting indeed, and the young Janus had a distinct desire to see how much tension they could cause. Maybe things would blow up? Hm. Well, they'd just have to see, wouldn't they.
"The Regime is starving, right? Now's the best time to trek through the tunnels to learn how they connect to the camp us Janus live in. Besides, I was trying to learn about their torture tactics, and check out the herbs to see how they differ from ours! I'm supposed to be looking for knowledge, right? Well, we lost to them once, we need to make sure it won't happen again." It was a reasonable excuse, and presuming that was actually what Funkson was doing, it was pretty smart. Then again, the nonbinary kitten wasn't even quite an apprentice's age, had already tried joining up with the Shadow Era, and clearly seemed to do things more for their own interest than in the name of the good of SunClan. But Littlestar would have to prove Funkson wrong, their laws tended to make things more lax for the Janus, or so Foxbane had explained to them when they'd been promoted. Loopholes and plausible explanations were a Janus' best friend, after all.
