Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
"Yo, Bloodyroooondo, let's go hangout." Autumngossamer stood in the corner of his vision like a shadow out of view. With a tilt of her head she signaled to him to follow before walking further into the night. She looked like she had been hanging back waiting for the priest promised to arrive to retire to his den, but cut him off early. Even if Bloodyrondo never saw her she was unmistakable, her voice never aged, it was young like a girly teenagers and had teeth to it, the kind that either sounded like a sugar sweet smile or the kind where the teeth were bared at you. But hers was always relaxed and pleasant around Bloodyrondo, it showed off her status. She talked politely to very few and made a habit to start gossip about rumors about everyone. While she was cursed to not look the holy hotness she had looked before she still looked pretty even if it was more on the average side. That and if the Sun God hadn't cursed her, age would have eventually caught up. Along her tail were three traditional DayClan feathers, not every cat remembered she was a DayClan apprentice, but the feathers helped anyone new connect the dots.
"I've been bored as hell and although I love every moment with Lovesmitten, I kind of want to hangout with my friends every now and then. Plus we're before high ranks so you're one of the few I can really relate to on that kind of scale," Autumngossamer explained.
Bloodyrondo had had a very busy day. He had spent the first half of it assigning patrols and leading a couple. The second half, well, that was confidential, but it had to do with a certain leader's daughter and the hot springs. That was why he was in such a good mood and also lacking any paint on his fluffy ginger pelt. A spring in his step, a smile on his face. He had been surprised to run into Autumngossamer of all cats when he tried to clamber into his den but he was nonplussed. Sometimes he found her delightful and other times downright annoying but for the most part his opinion of her was favorite. Besides, she was a second only to himself and Littlestar in the Sun God's eyes and Bloodyrondo wasn't quick to forget that.
"The Sun is down, but what kind of tom would I be to deny a request from a Queen?" Bloodyrondo was trying to be flattering and had no idea that he had hit a sore spot, "What do you have in mind this evening? I could catch you something fresh to eat and we can share tongues if you want."
Autumngossamer smiled at him, it appeared off, but not in a bad way, the smile made her face come off softer and more gentle where as her personality always gave her an ice queen appeal before now. For the first time among every cat she had talked to in SunClan, Bloodyrondo was the one that instantly lifted the weight off of her heart. If she ever needed him like she did now, he would be there. Even in this moment he was willing to give her his time and energy, "Sure, that would be great," She said walking out into camp with him and sitting down to wait for their prey. Half of her wondered if she should tell him just how much this meant to her, but she decided not to get to that yet. After all, while she publicly held together about any comments about her pregnancy inside she felt worse, but when Bloodyrondo called her a queen it was the first time she felt actually happy about it. Maybe all she really needed was to be around her friends more. Sometimes she got so obsessed over Lovesmitten she forgot that was an option.
"I'll be right back." Even though the fresh-kill pile was well stocked, the Priest Promised had promised that he would catch the prey personally. He didn't have a reputation for being a great hunter but that was only because he didn't do it much. There was hardly a need for an important cat like Bloodyrondo to do such a menial task. The ginger tom was only gone perhaps fifteen minutes before he returned to camp with a plump vole in his jaws. It wasn't the cleanest kill but its heart had only just stopped beating moments ago so it was sure to satisfy.
He sat it down at Autumgoassamer's paws then selected a mouse for himself from the fresh-kill pile. The ginger tom settled down next to Autumngossamer and waited for her to take the first bite before starting their customary gossip, "So, tell me, of all the cats in SunClan, which do you think is the most miserable one of them all? And by miserable, I mean miserable for you to be around, not miserable themselves. Although I suppose both conversations are worth having, yeah?"
"Okay, like. I don't wanna be rude and I'm totally not trash talking here, like I promise, but honestly my own mate. And I LOVE him, like it's why I love talking to Shootingcomet cause we both like toms and can talk about hot bods and all that. But it's because I love him that I feel so awful inside. He wants this happy pregnancy and I'm so scared out of my mind about pregnancy. Cause like, okay, when I first became a Janus we locked up this one Immortal Council member and keep in mind I was a DayClan apprentice up until like a moon ago. So even though I came here, I still hadn't switched out of that, oh, she's my superior kind of feel, y'know? But she was pregnant and Foxstar forced her to give birth and took her kits from her and brainwashed them to hate her. And I like passed out when the kits started coming, because everything about it was just so horrific. Like holy Sun God, just let her give birth on her own and at least nurse them and then take them?" Autumngossamer sighed, "Anyways, ever since that moment pregnancy has scared the heck out of me, I'm afraid SunClan might do the same to me or that the pregnancy will go wrong. But because I'm so afraid I'm ruining Lovesmitten's whole experience and he really really deserves to have happy and excited me. Not traumatized from a childhood experience me. It's why I wanted to talk to you cause I just kind of feel uncomfortable with the idea of Littlestar helping me through birth and I'd feel so much better if it was you instead because, like. I really trust you because I feel we both came on this journey into power together, y'know?"
Talking with Autumngossamer instantly could set any environment into the mood of being at an all girls sleepover gossiping about the newest trends.
Bloodyrondo was here for the gossip but he hadn't really expected this tsunami. He really should have known, given that he was sharing a meal with Autumngossamer, who may as well be renamed Autumngossiper. He took a bite from his fresh-kill while the Soothersayer went on her rant and chewed slowly, thoughtfully. He opened his mouth to reply when he though there was a good break but was cut off by the she-cat as she continued. So, he took anther bite, zoned out a little bit, then realized that she was looking at his expectantly. Oh! Right, that last sentence had been a question. What was she asking, again?
"Oh yeah, of course," Bloodyrondo nodded a bit absentmindedly, swallowing his most recent morsel and then turning to face the she-cat at his side, "Gossy, listen, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Those were very different times and you're in good paws. If you don't want Littlestar there then of course I will be there for you, but... well..." How should he say this? Bloodyrondo's training as a healer was still in its early stages and was not quite his strong suit. He'd never delivered a litter of kits on his own. In fact, he'd only been present at one birth, and Mistyrose had taken the lead there. He saw that expectant look in the Soothersayer's eyes and let out the ghost of a sigh. How could he say no to a cat that put so much trust in him?
"I just know it'll go smoothly. It's probably a small litter since it's your first anyways. Have you had anyone try to count them yet?"
"No, I don't really trust anyone to ask," Autumngossamer said, her brown eyes dulled as the feeling of worthlessness flooded back into her, "I never wanted to be pregnant because I didn't want to put myself in a situation to be weak and dependent. So many people here are my enemies, they'll strike when they get the chance, Littlestar, Foxbane, Mountainsound, Mistyrose, anyone really. That's just how SunClan is, trust no one and you'll still get hurt, trust anyone and you'll die. It's absolutely humiliating to be seen this way, but I'm doing this for Lovesmitten, there's no other reason in this world that I need except that," She smiled, "And when I think about doing it for Lovesmitten I don't really feel so sorry for myself or embarrassed, I just feel strong. You could check the number of kits if you want though, I trust you completely."
"Being pregnant is a beautiful thing, Autumngossamer. I understand why you are scared, it is a great toll on your body, and it's not pretty, but... there is no duty more sacred than being a mother." Bloodyrondo really did feel this way. His tone and expression were earnest, impassioned. He had always frequented the nursery more than the average tom, starting first with Foxbane's most recent litter and continuing throughout his time as Priest Promised. He always, always brought gifts to queens after birth, and thoughtful ones at that, taking his time to bring something memorable. For all of Bloodyrondo's bite he really let his guard done around kits and their mothers and today was no different, "The cats of SunClan are not your enemy. Maybe if you didn't view them like that..." you wouldn't be cursed, was what he wanted to say, but he changed the sentence half-way through, "...you would be treasuring this time as much as Lovesmitten is. But anyway..."
His prey was finished now; he set it aside to be buried later. He stretched into a standing position then sat back down again, looking to Autumngossamer expectantly, "When you're ready, roll over and I'll try and count."
"Don't even start with me Bloody, I just want to be Autumngossamer, that's it. I don't expect you to understand, but when you're a she-cat in this clan everyone expects you to be a mother and if you're not than what are you worth? I never gave a damn until the Sun God treated me that way too," She said sharply, but relaxed, "Besides, this is just a hard time for me, after my first litter I've had postpartum depression. I'm sorry I'm not exactly free spirited right now, I've been trying to take herbs for it, but because of my curse it's been really hard getting the help I need to push through it, it's been entire will power just trying to get up everyday," She looked sympathetically at Bloodyrondo and for once looked apologetic, "Ugh, I'm sorry for being sharp with you just now, it's just pregnancy, my job, caring for my family, and this depression, my emotions are just kind of all over the place right now. It's obnoxious I know, but I wanted to talk with you because you're my friend and make me feel safe and all that. Anywayyy I promise, I really am excited for these kits, I do love raising a family, it's just the pregnancy part," She said, rolling over for him.
She was right, he didn't understand. Autumngossamer was barley weeks away from living his dream yet here she was, all mopey and depressed, it just didn't make sense. He understood that the role of the she-cat was more involved than that of the tom, but it was still a team effort and Lovesmitten was one of the most supportive guys he knew. SunClan had some of the best healers in all of the Clans and was full of some of the most experienced Queens out there. In an uncharacteristic stroke of maturity, though, Bloodyrondo judged it best not to comment on it. She had already apologized to him anyway, perhaps a good night's sleep would bring her to his way of thinking, "It's okay, don't worry about it. Everyone's mood is tense right now what with the issues we are having with DayClan and the fact that Moonlitnocturne is clowning around as Priest Promised. No one is going to expect you to be happy all the time."
He was missing her point entirely, but at least he was trying to be supportive.
Bloodyrondo placed his paw over Autumngossamer's stomach and slowly moved it up and down, side to side. Counting kits was notoriously inaccurate but he would at least be able to suggest the general size of the litter and was a little surprised at what he had found, "I counted at least four, probably more, but it's really hard to say. That's a pretty big litter for your first. You've truly been blessed."
