Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Anyone surveying the land may have thought she was a fox. Her busy-red tail betrayed her as it hung in the air while the intruder took in the forest around her. It had been a long journey. Maybe it could have been done in one day, but she had taken her time. Crossing enemy territory required some extra caution, so it had slowed her down. Presently, though, she hardly cared to be seen, which is why she let her tail was peak out of the shrubbery. She wanted to be found.
"I'm really home." She said out loud and a grin broke out across her face. Despite being exhausted, she began running, giddy with joy knowing that her journey was finally coming to an end. It didn't matter that she smelled like FallClan, that she wasn't wearing any feathers, that she doubted any of her blood family still actually lived here... her folded ears were evidence enough that she was DayClan cat if her colorful tail did not.
Her enthusiasm couldn't supplement her exhaustion forever, though, and the silver tabby she-cat lost her footing. She rolled across the ground with a quiet thud. Her mistletoe eyes blinked open to a vast blue sky that somehow seemed brighter here than it even did in FallClan, "This is unreal..."
"Yeah, I would be careful where you step around here. Rabbits are such a nuisance with their dumb little holes they dig everywhere." Came a voice of a young tom, sprawled out over a boulder, basking up the warm rays of sunlight. He didnt seem at all bothered that another cat had crossed over onto Dayclan territory. Instead, he was still laying on the bolder and hadn't even gotten up to inspect the intruder.
DayClan borders had been fairly loose when she lived here last, but even she was surprised that this tom was so calm about her presence. Kinkedrose certainly did not recognize him. Not that she expected to recognize many of the cats in the Clan anymore. DayClanners played musical chairs with other Clans all the time and she herself was no exception. She swished her foxy-red tail just slightly and for the first time in moons felt naked for not having a feather there. That would have made her story a lot more believable. But... it didn't seem like she even needed it?
"While I agree with you, I must say you shouldn't underestimate what lives underground." She said that with a giggle, "I'm Kinkedrose. It's nice to meet you." She bowed her head in respect, "I've returned to DayClan. Forever this time."
It was her greeting and her greeting only that made him actually rise to his paws. He stretched each leg in turn before leaping off the comfort of his boulder to meet the stranger face to face. He was a handsome russet somali tom with light green eyes and a warm smile. Politely, he returned her gesture with a dip of his head as well. "The pleasure is all mine. My name is Foxtrotter." He purred. "You said you are returning to Dayclan? So your Dayclan blood."
"Yes, if it wasn't obvious." Kinkedrose's DayClan bloodlines were deep and etched into her every feature. From his swirly, silver tabby stripes to her folded over ears, any Clan cat that knew DayClan would easily assume where she came from by sight alone, "Technically I was born and raised in the Regime, but both of my parents were from DayClan and I lived here throughout all of my Warrior training. I left several moons ago to live in FallClan, but... well, I no longer have any reason to be there. I'm ready to come home."
It felt odd opening up to a stranger, but Foxtrotter was very accommodating, much how DayClan had always been. Kinkedrose herself was used to dealing with strong-willed cats but nothing beat the open arms of her home Clan.
"Well, then. Let me be the first to say 'Welcome home!'" He purred, extending an arm out to gesture Dayclan territory. "How about we get you to camp, hm?" He turned to lead her there, though she probably already knew where it was. "Your lucky I was the one to find you. While many of the Dayclan warriors are pretty relaxed about the open borders, some of us are still getting used to it and probably would have attacked before asking questions."
Kinkedrose knew that it was common among DayClanners to greet each other with an embrace and it sure looked like Foxtrotter had given her the opening to do just thatl however, she couldn't bring herself to brush fur with another tom. She knew she would have to get over Thrushstar someday if she ever really wanted to be happy but now was not the time. Being here was like ripping off a bandaid. It's going to hurt a lot more before it gets better.
So, she grinned and nodded her head, then took a few steps ahead of her red-furred companion, "Oh really? I suppose I don't have the wispy feather anymore but that sounds awfully barbaric. You're not trying to make me think you are the nicest guy in the whole Clan, are you?" Kinkedrose giggled and stuck her fox-furred tail in the air, it was a bit of a nervous tick of hers, not that Foxtrotter would know that, "I guess I should say that I'm glad you are the one who found me."
He purred, revealing his warm smile once again. "No need to worry. I promise I am not the only nice cat in Dayclan. There are more friendly faces than there are defensive ones. Usually the ones who are the most defensive of the lands are the ones that are experienced warriors and older because of what Dayclan has had to face in the past. Such as Windchaser for example. I'm glad she wasnt the one you met first. Shes not the most...welcoming. She doesnt trust very many cats and is a real hard head sometimes but once you get to know her, shes a big softy. All of her hostility is only to protect the ones she loves. Shes been through quite a lot. Many times she had put her trust into the wrong cats. Now, shes so defensive and untrusting, it's rather sad. However, she is one of the best warriors in Dayclan and is one of Glowstar's most trusted." He explained, an amused twitch of his whiskers at the thought of the hot headed she-cat.
"But I'm sure many cats are going to be glad to see you. You are one of us! They would never turn down their kind. Once they realize you have returned to them, prepare for a warm welcome." Foxtrotter mewed with a sideways smile. He was probably one of the most warm and welcoming toms of Dayclan. His feathers being humor and friendliness as they dangled from the long fur behind his ear.
Sweetiepeach perked up as Foxtrotter and Kinkedrose came into view, her shy gaze politely averting their eyes. As they approached her heart fluttered with anxiety as she anticipated when would be the socially correct time to say hello and awkwardly waited as they came into earshot. "Hello," Sweetiepeach greeted, her voice barely above a whisper, but her tone was sweet and kind in nature like how one would imagine a shy rabbit to speak.
"I'm Sweetiepeach," She introduced to the new cat, her timid gaze avoiding Kinkedrose's and Foxtrotter's like they were two sides of the same magnet. Her fur was a cloud of wild shadowy curls and her eyes were like two freshly plucked marigolds, copper in the center and orange around the rims. But the most unique feature was her white bengal legs, they were short haired unlike the rest of her and looked brighter than snow.
"Hi, Sweetiepeach!" Foxtrotter greeted with excitement. He always liked greeting cats as if he was happy to see them. It made others feel good about themselves and help boost their self-esteem. He enjoyed it because it also made him feel good to see them light up. "This is Kinkedrose. She used to live here but decided to leave. Now she has returned."
"Well, that's good to hear," Kinkedrose mused as she listened to Foxtrotter speak of Windchaser. She noted his big heart and overall friendly disposition before she even saw the feathers. Oh, she just couldn't wait to have her feathers again, over the moons in FallClan hers had been lost to time and she hadn't realized how naked she felt without them until just this moment. She loved that tradition. DayClan cats did not just wear their hearts on their sleeves, but also on their tails.
"I appreciate your warning about Windchaser, I do hope she will grow to tolerate a grotty outsider like myself," Kinkedrose teased, although she was confident she could win any heart through enough hard work. She made it a game to befriend anybody and everybody, after all, or so that was her plan back in her home Clan. She had spent so much time as a loner in FallClan that she doubted she would be missed at all. She wasn't going to fall back into her old habits this time.
So, when her mistletoe eyes settled on Sweetiepeach in the distance, she trotted right up to the dark-furred she-cat with a grin. She bowed her head as Foxtrotter introduced her then made eye contact with the new she-cat, taking note that the other cat wasn't meeting her gaze directly, "It's nice to meet you, Sweetiepeach. You have such beautiful eyes."
"Thank-you," Sweetiepeach smiled shyly before side stepping out of their way, realizing she didn't know what else to say, "I hope you enjoy your time in DayClan again," She added cheerfully. Her white bengal paws shuffled uncomfortably.
"DayClan is so refreshing, honestly, I'm not even sure why I left," Kinkedrose laughed, although her grind did not quite reach her eyes. She was happy to be home, no doubt about that, but, for some reason, she could not help but cast her thoughts back to FallClan. To Trushstar. She shook her fur and stuck her foxy-red tail in the air, "I can't wait to be back in camp. I'm starving! Is Glowstar still cooking up those crazy pastries?"
