It had been a long night for Rainfrost. She had been out hunting but had nothing to show for it. And it wasn't for lack of trying too. The night was more than half spent and she determined she wasn't going to return to camp without something to show for her efforts. Try as she might, she couldn't find any fresh mouse, squirrel, vole spoor anywhere. There were plenty of old, stale ones around and she even followed two or three trails out of desperation which ended up as acts of futility. Then an idea struck her. Maybe she could find some bats in the old bear cave! So turning her face in that direction, she set off. But before she went very far, she heard a sound coming from her right.
