Jadie Though her stomach wasn't too plump just yet with her kits, Sanguinerose was still encumbered enough to slightly waddle as she walked through SunClan's territory, her amber pelt glowing in the sun's warm rays. It was about midday, and after lounging about all morning she was ready to stretch her legs. Their territory was secure with the Sun God watching over it, and she knew she wouldn't be in any danger she couldn't handle herself. Still, her kits made her more conscious of the little things that could hurt them, from tripping over a rock to falling from a tree. Because of this, she was so focused on walking a straight and level path that she didn't hear the brush stirring to her right, or see the saliva dripping from the badger's mouth as it readied to attack her.
Bloodyrondo was there in a flash, his ginger pelt bristling, claws unsheathed. He looked quite winded and was panting as he turned his pale green eyes to his foe. The Priest Promised had been hearing reports of the scent of badger along this stretch of territory for the last few days; however, no one had been able to find it or its den, leading the Clan to assume that it was just traveling through the territory. It still didn't sit right with Bloodyrondo, though. For the scent to turn up more than once indicated a pattern. This was near the DayClan border anyways, she he personally decided to spent his break patrolling it. It couldn't hurt. He was glad that he did.
Bloodyronod had never fought a badger before but knew that it was a deadly foe even with an entire patrol's support. All he had was a pregnant she-cat. There was no time to seek reinforcements: they were too far from camp, "Sanguinerose, you need to get as far away from here as you can manage." He did not wait to see if she had followd her command and instead made the first move. In one fluid, powerful movement, he struck at the badger with unsheathed claws, aiming at its eyes. If he could take away a sense maybe it would run away in defeat.

Sanguinerose exhaled in relief when the Priest Promised appeared, ginger pelt providing her more relief than she knew she could feel. Still, there was an angry badger to face and one Priest Promised - while powerful in his own right - didn't stand much of a chance against so savage a foe. She knew that by ignoring his command she was essentially going against an agent of the Sun Himself - not to mention putting her kits in danger - but at that moment she wasn't thinking. She acted. The crimson she-cat darted out from behind Bloodyrondo and past the salivating badger, hoping to draw its eye. She wasn't stupid; she wouldn't engage it, but distract it. She raised her clear blue eyes and met Bloodyrondo's. Would he chastise her or take advantage of the opening she provided? The badger lunged forwards, testing the large ginger tom's reach and reflexes. It pulled back just as quickly, getting a read on its prey, before lunging again, deciding brute force would be sufficient. It's massive black and gray body slammed into the Priest Promised, filthy flaws trying to rake down Bloodyrondo's flank.
Bloodyrondo took the brute force of the blow but managed to move away before the claws did any real damage. He was still scratched, of course, evident by the tufts on ginger fur stuck between the badger's toes, but they were fairly shallow and only slightly stung. He backed away and stumbled into Sanguinerose who somehow had ended up within range, "I TOLD YOU TO RUN!" He barked, pushing the pregnant she-cat away as the Badger lunged for him once more time. He took a second blow more directly as he had put himself between the queen and the badger. Blood spilled on the group in front of him: his shoulder this time, and this one really, really hurt.

Sanguinerose found that her voice had deserted her at that point, fear of both the badger and Bloodyrondo's anger drying up any words she might have uttered. She stumbled when he gave her a firm shove, but quickly righted herself, eyes filled with concern. Thanks to her, the badger had taken a huge chunk of fur from the Priest Promised's chest, leaving crimson blood in its wake. She gave a weak yelp, but felt her claws slide from their sheaths. She wasn't that pregnant yet, and was a trained warrior besides. She could help. After all, Bloodyrondo had to be alive afterwards to chastise her. The badger gave a sick grin when he pulled back from the second attack with blood and fur stuck in his claws. Gnashing its black and rotted teeth together, he pushed his advantage and shoved into the injured tom, heading for the smaller she-cat. This one wouldn't fight him, and he could just run away with her to eat later. As he hooked a claw around her front leg, he felt fire up his face and realized she'd clawed his eyes and nose, leaving him partially blinded. Flailing backwards, he banged into Bloodyrondo and lashed out blindly.
Bloodyrondo took the sudden opportunity granted by Sanguinerose's attack to go straight for the badger's throat. It was a risky maneuver - the ginger tom was facing the badger's back - but he managed to dodge the creature's sloppy blows by sidestepping him and crouching low. He used his legs like springs to propel himself forward and anchor is jaws around the badger's throat the second it turned around to attack him. The problem was that these creatures had very thick skin and wide necks: Bloodyrondo couldn't he a great grip, but he was trying. He bit down was as much force as he could must and focused on where he knew its windpipe was. Windpipes were hard to damage but if he could puncture it the badger at best would slowly suffocate to death or at worst be deterred and try to run away. His tail lashed from side to side as he tried again to signal to Sanguinerose to run. While she had proven herself useful, he wasn't about to risk the lives on her kits for his own...
