Crookedkit sat outside the nursery with his kinked tail wrapped around his body. The deformity wasn't as noticeable that way. The camp seemed full of activity as cats went about their business. A sigh escaped from his small chest. He couldn't wait until he could see what lays behind the camp walls. Perhaps when he's older he'll be able to find some friends out there who wouldn't make fun of him. But until then he had to remain here.
"Hello!" The chirp was high pitched enough to resemble that of a birds and the black and white she-cat with bright golden eyes the popped down beside Crookedkit could objectively be compared to a magpie perhaps. Fabledkit was her name and she was making a name for herself as a troublesome character to associate with. Constantly looking for the next big adventure and dragging along any poor soul that was foolish enough to agree to tag along. "You seem lonely sitting here by yourself." She observed simply to start conversation. Though, as much as she would never admit it, there was also the motivation driven by the fact he reminded her of herself.
Though she hid her own insecurities and nature through boastful bragging and bigger than life actions. Desperately pretending to be something she wasn't in hopes of erasing what she truly was.

Crookedkit's head snapped around in surprise at Fabledkit. He hadn't expected any cat to approach him. He was relieved she wasn't among those who liked to tease him. Usually that was the only reason anyone wanted to be around him. "Um, hi," he replied a little tentatively. "Actually I am usually lonely so this is nothin' different." He shrugged his little shoulders. Then deciding on the spot to be friendly to Fabledkit in case he might find in her a friend, he meowed, "Whatcha up to? There seems ta' be nothin' much around here ta' do."
"I'm on house arrest." She admitted with a sheepish shrug as she cast him a sideways look as if to say 'what can you do'. "I mean technically we're all on house arrest, but I'm on extra house arrest." Her words were guilty and she was already preparing herself to lie if he asked why. Not wanting to admit to the mess she had gotten Firekit and herself into. "And I'm sorry to hear that lonely is your normal state of being. Seems.. lame." She finally settled, for having exhausted her eloquence.

"It is lame," Crookedkit agreed. "But of late it's either being picked on 'cause of my tail or being lonely." He paused and added, "Thanks for comin' over." Maybe Fabledkit would become a friend, he thought hopefully. He missed not interacting much with the others. Maybe when he gets older things would change. But for now this was the way things were. "You mentioned house arrest," he ventured. "You seem like a very nice cat. What didja do?"
"Ah, well," she hedged for a moment as she shifted nervously on her paws. "I convinced Firekit to come on an adventure with me, and to make a long story short we ran into some twolegs and he got really hurt." She didn't mention that finding the twolegs had been the goal along, or that Firekit would live with the horrific burns for he rest of his life and had spent days in agony due to her own foolishness and cowardliness.

"That's too bad about Firekit," Crookedkit replied. He knew some kits had gone missing for awhile but didn't really know why or where they went. "But you're back to camp now an' you don't look too beat up." He hesitated for a moment then continued. "Sneakin' out of camp sounds exciting. Too bad twolegs got in your way. I wish I could do somethin' fun." He often wondered what the world was like on the other side of the camp walls. "So what's it like out there?"
"Amazing!" She replied, which was far from the truth of her real opinion. As she had found the outside world confusing and to large for her liking. She hadn't known where the were going and had spent more of the journey coming up with increasingly creative ways to sound assured of their journey so as not to worry Firekit. "I can't wait until we become apprentices and can explore more easily! Though it'll take away the adventure of sneaking out of camp so I'll have to come up with something else crazy to do instead."

"Like what?" Crookedkit asked genuinely interested in what Fabledkit was saying. He'd love to do something fun, anything fun really. Many times he watched the other kits playing wishing they'd let him join in. "Do you have anything in mind?" He didn't think playing mossball or hide-n-go-seek would satisfy his new friend so he didn't even suggest those activities. She seemed more daring, more exciting than the other kits.
"We'll undertake a heist!" Fabledkit declared, with all the gusto of someone who had never failed in a quest before. Despite being anything but that, as she often found herself failing in her adventures. "We will go to the medicine cat den and steal some herbs!" There were many potential dangers of this idea and she didn't consider a single one of them. She was more focused on impressing Crookedkit, and determined to make sure they did something together that he would remember.

"Steal herbs? Why?" Crookedkit asked. He couldn't see any reason to take stinky old leaves. But the thought of sneaking around did excite him. "What is it about old leaves you want?" He looked around furtively to see if any cat was within earshot but thankfully they were alone. "I saw a warrior have to eat some and he gagged."
"It's not about wanting them, it's about managing to sneak away with something we're forbidden from!" She explained with fervor. "Just imagine, managing to get some herbs and showing them off to the others! They'll be so impressed with us! Or we could play a prank if they're that disgusting and sneak them into the meals of some of the others that are mean to! That would show them a lesson wouldn't Crookedkit?" Fabledkit urged, rather impressed with herself this time around.
