Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
They were close, Levee could feel it. Soon they would meet the cats of the moon Selene was leading him towards. It had been a long journey, and the trek through the mountains was the hardest part. Now that they had reached the forest he could relax. Even better yet, Constantine had caught up to the group. Though he always had a purr in his throat when he saw Constantine again, the purr in his throat was from genuine happiness. He was just glad his beloved hadn’t been there to see him nearly die passing through the mountains.
The moonlight illuminated Constantine's mostly white-pelt almost as if he was a shadow wearing light. He truly had a dramatic silhouette while highlighted in the darkness. Perfect posture, well-defined muscles and just enough fluff to fill him out. He was not conventionally handsome, but no cat could deny that he was striking. Constantine approached Leviathan with a purr rumbling deep in his throat. It was a distinctive sound, deep and resounding, not unlike his voice. He noted his mate's aura was joyous. Also, contagious. He grinned and rubbed his cheek against the black-and-white tom in greeting, "I knew the stars would guide me back to you."
Instead of flinching away from the gesture like he would of with anyone else, he melted into it. Closing his eyes to soak in this moment of bliss he would run his tongue over the white tom's ear. Only in this private moment would he dare to let himself relax. Constantine was the only cat that Levee trusted wholly with his own life. Though he had achingly missed with while they were separated he was glad for it. Knowing full well that even if the white tom didn't care he couldn't of bared the guilt if he had seen some of the things Levee had done. "If it was Selene's will then it would come to pass. Come, tell me of your journey. I have a tale to share with you as well."
"I went around the mountain," Constantine explained, nuzzling Leviathan one last time before he pulled away to get a good look at him. He was happy to see his face and body unmarred from any obvious wounds, his pelt shiny and well-kept, his aura a healthy shade of blue marred only by a few speckles of darkness. There were times that he had seen that darkness overtake the peace and was happy to see how greatly diminished it was, at least in this moment. He could already see the dark speckles multiplyingslowly while negative feelings, probably self-doubt or some other uncertainty, creep to the surface. Constantine hated watching this happen but he did not let it deter him from making his report, "There are many, many cats who call these forests home. I shared words some but they were not friendly, so I did't learn much. These cats are very secretive, Leviathan, this may go without saying but do not expect to be welcomed with open arms."
Leviathan smirked at his last remark, his amber eyes gleaming in response to whatever mischievous thought had crossed his mind. "I appreciate your concern Constantine but, I do not need them to welcome me. Selene has invited me to this place and offered me a home. What the other cats around here think of me is none of my concern. They just have to accept the change that is coming, they don't have to like it" he purred, working the ground under his paws excitedly with his claws.
There it was. That spark of confidence that Constantine found incredibly sexy. He grinned as he saw colors shift a swirl but they never truly abandoned its anchor in true goodness. He felt guilty, though. He unfairly knew that what Leviathan said was what he truly believed. The white-and-gray tom knew his love would only be hurt worse if he approached this with too much optimism. His smile faded and his heterochromic eyes were serious once more, "Don't underestimate them. Selene can only influence cats whose hearts are open to her. Just because we assume the cats the Moon Goddess is leading you towards will accept you does not mean that the rest of the Clans will."
"My duty is to those who follow Selene, I care not for the other clans. They will accept me as Selene wills it because the cats under the moon are none of their concern if they do not follow our goddess." He spoke simply and firmly, there was no doubt in his mind, he would face whatever these other clans threw at him with grace and dignity. So long as he protected Selene's followers like he was meant to. "We have nothing to fear from the other cats, The moon will see us through what ever trials still lie ahead. You need only have faith." He spoke more quietly now rubbing his nose along Constantine's cheek with a soft purr. "She lead me to you after all."
Constantine decided not to push the issue further. He trusted Leviathan's judgment and, besides, it is not like he was planning on going to ever leave his side. The mostly white tom would be there for the highs as well as the lows, "Yes, you are right, I should have more faith in Selene. I don't doubt that she will lead us to success. But enough of my report. You said you had a story for me as well?"
A change in subject would be good, and, besides, he was genuinely eager to hear what his mate had to say.
"Yes." Levee perked up, he could still feel his mate's worry ebbing off him even though he didn't speak on the issue further. "As I said, you've no reason to worry. Though Selene's guidance I have already procured us an ally." For once he didn't look smug as he spoke, instead he was watching his mate's reaction, seeking approval form the one cat that truly mattered to him outside his kin. "My faith was tested and I believe if I had failed I wouldn't be here with you now. Instead I passed and opened the eyes of others to the greatness of our Goddess."
"You must give me some more color," Constantine prompted, he was not a cat that smiled often and he'd already done it once tonight; however, any cat who knew him weill could tell from the way light reflected off his eyes that he was happy to hear such good news, "Where did you find this ally, and what kind of test did you go through? I'm very sorry to have been absent, although it seems you did not need me after all. I'm proud of you." He knew that what Leviathan needed second only to love was affirmation, and Constantine was happy to give it. Affirmation and love were often paired together, after all.
It was at this request that Levee hesitated, the smile still graced his lips but, for once he had to think before he spoke. Even he knew that sometimes his words had to be chosen more carefully. He couldn't just blurt out the truth nonchalantly to Constantine. The last thing he wanted was to say something that could cause the other cat worry or harm. "I found our ally in the mountains" he began. "A group of cats who call themselves WinterClan. I fell ill on the edge of their territory and they, listened to me when I told them of the cure Selene entrusted to me and used it to heal me. In doing so they themselves found faith in her." The black and white tom was scarily still as he spoke, his voice quiet. He spoke of it lightly but, the reality of it was much harder to speak of. How exactly do you tell the cat you love that you nearly died to get where you are?
Constantine listened with a content look on his face while Leviathan told him of his travels. It had torn him up to leave his mate for so long to do some scouting, but it seemed that it had worked out in their favor as Constantine had gathered knowledge of the Clans while Leviathan gained an important ally. Perhaps his concerns about being welcomed by these foreign cats had been unfounded after all. He was about to nuzzle his mate for a job well done when he mentioned falling ill. His tone said he was trying to downplay it, but Conny knew without even opening his eyes that it was much more serious than the common cold. "You should have sent for me the minute you fell ill." He said in a no-nonsense tone,"I am glad that Selene healed you, but I'm not going to let you travel again without me again. I know if was too risky."
Levee couldn't help the faintly amused purr that sounded in his throat as Constantine spoke. He made no attempt to make accuses or justify his actions. He knew too well that the choices he made was stupid and risky, still he had to make them none the less. He knew that, and he knew his mate understood even if he refused to accept it as easily as Leviathan. "Yes my love." he agreed without hesitation. In truth even for all the faith he had in Selene Levee had never been more terrified than he was when he thought he would actually die without Constantine knowing what had happened to him.
"Come hunting with me, It's been far too long since you and I did anything alone." He pressed his nose against the white tom's cheek purring more softly this time. "You can show me around, I must admit I do not know the full length of our new territory."
Constantine knew that Leviathan was intentionally trying to change the subject as to avoid a more lengthy scolding. The mostly white tom decided to let his mate have his way: There was no point in fighting over an issue that was already resolved and, besides, he was in a very good mood, "Alright, alright, I'll show you around this territory. To be honest, I have not gone too deep, but I do know the borders and a few of the landmarks. The cats that I have encountered so far were pretty resistant to me but the same can be said for any Clan cat I have met in my travels."
With that, he began to lead Leviathan into the forest toward the roaring sound of water, "We are nearing the border with NightClan," he explained, "Who originally was on more friendly terms with MoonClan, I gather, before converting in favor of the Sun. To what extent the Sun's influence has on NightClan, I do not know, but it seems all other cats in this forest are united under his influence. MoonClan alone has kept her borders secure and stayed true to the teachings of the Moon Goddess... although not without conflict."
Levee frowned at this information. His mind racing trying to come up with a counterpoint or any rationale he could think of but there was none he could come up with on the fly. "That, might be a problem" he conceded. The black and white tom inched closer to his mate as they walked, just enough so that their pelts brushed without making it hard for either of them to walk. Sending Constantine ahead had proven to be more valuable that he originally anticipated. Trust was a two way street and while he had gathered more followers in his own travels he didn't trust them the way he trusted Constantine and Abaddon. Eventually it would no longer be an issue but for the time being the others had a lot to learn, and something told him it would not be an easy lesson for them.
"We'll have to be cautious with our neighbors then. For now we should focus on our own affairs and properly introduce ourselves to the others only when the time is right. Our own clan is already wary we need their support before we try to do business with the others."
Constantine was a cat who rarely purred but he had a hard time holding it back when Leviathan's fur brushed against his. He was just so, so happy to be back together again, it had been too long. The mostly white tom had spent most of his youth in total isolation - by his own choice - and thought he'd be able to handle it for a few weeks. Being with Levee now made him realize just how much the other tom mattered to him. He just wished that the two agreed more when it came to matters of strategy, "Don't think that staying within our borders means we are safe. I'm sure you will lead us to success through Selene's grace but it may be worthwhile to make introductions early. Rumors spread faster than wildfire, especially when all of our neighbors seem to follow the same deity."
He opened his mouth suddenly, tasting the air for prey. That's right. They were supposed to be hunting. He picked up a few trails but waited to hear Levee's reply before he dropped into a crouch.
Levee shook his head in mild disbelief. What were NightClan doing worshiping the sun? It just didn't make sense to him. He knew Constantine wasn't lying of course but if what he had told him was true they really did have their work cut out for them. He sighed and visibly deflated a bit. Was he accepting defeat? Yes, but only for the time being. He didn't want to spoil what little time alone he was given with his mate. It was rare the two of them ever got to be alone like this and he wanted to cherish it not waste it talking politics. Letting the matter drop in the silence he lightly headbutt the other tom on his shoulder.
"Are we not meant to be hunting? You'll scare off all the prey rambling like that" he teased. Leviathan opened his mouth breathing in deeply, the crisp night air chilling his lungs in the process. New-leaf was right around the corner and if you asked him it couldn't get here soon enough, he was over the cold nights. Admittedly he only hated them because for the majority of this leaf-bare he didn't have someone to share his nest with like he was used to.
"I bet you this is the night I finally catch an owl" he smirked, an unusual playful gleam shone in his amber eyes as he side eyed his mate.
Constantine was happy that Leviathan had changed the subject without much fuss. Truly he didn't want to speak much more on politics either, there was a time and place for that and neither of them were right now. No, right now they were just a couple of cats hunting in the night for their next meal. Simple moments like these were what made his heart feel full and he laughed out loud when Levee joked about catching an owl. He had been making that joke for as long as they had known each other and neither tom had yet to catch the elusive prey.
"You'll catch an owl when hedgehogs fly," He joked, touching his tail to Levee's shoulder and dropping into a crouch, having picked up a scent of a nearby rabbit. He padded off into the undergrowth in a roundabout way which indicated to Leviathan that his intention was to flush the prey out of its hiding spot. Since Constantine's pelt was mostly light in color, this was usually how the two of them hunted. You know, Conny setting it up, and Levee going in for the kill. Not unlike their working relationship. Finally his eyes settled on the form of a small rabbit and he lunged for it, claws just barely missing its downy fur, and the terrified rodent bolted out of the clearing and right toward Leviathan's claws.
