Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Buttercuppaw tossed and turned in her nest, her mind not allowing her to relax. She was troubled by what Glowstar had said to her when she had become an apprentice. Glowstar had told her she had been destined to be an animal whisperer. While animals were always cute and cuddly, she didn't want to be an animal whisperer. She didn't feel like she had what it took. She wanted to be a fiercesome cat like her mother. She wanted all the clans to look at her and know better than to tangle with her but Glowstar had ruined that by saying that her destiny laid in a different path. There had to have been a mistake. Buttercupglow had never even tried to communicate with an animal before. All she knew how to do was eat them and hunt them, not befriend them. To her, that was a dumb idea. There was no way, no how, that she was going to follow the destiny of becoming an animal whisperer. The ginger and white tabby let out an "oof" as Lilacpaw, her sister, unintentially kicked her in the side in her sleep. Frustrated, and deciding that was the last straw, the small apprentice snuck out of the den, careful not to disturb any of the other apprentices on her way out. The air was cold and crisp, freezing compared to the warmth of the den, causing her to shiver from the sudden temperature change. She let out a sigh, her breath clouding at her muzzle. Turning her gaze to the sky, she realized dawn wasnt even close yet. The moon was a waning gibbous, high in the sky, casting a bright light over the camp. After stretching in a downward dog pose and flexing her claws, she decided that perhaps the only way she was going to get any sleep tonight was to take a walk or run to wear herself out. She headed out of camp and out into the bare land of Dayclan.
The waterfall wasn't far from the camp so Buttercuppaw decided to go there. It was peaceful and a good distance for a run. She darted off toward the waterfall, feeling the cold air in her fur. Snow dotted the ground here and there from the snow storm a few nights before. She was careful not to step in any and freeze her paws. It didn't take long before she reached the waterfall. The moon and stars gave it a beautiful silvery sparkle. Such beauty. She edged closer to the river and lapped up a few drops, feeling the sharp stab of icy water as it slid down her throat. She shuddered, a chill running down her spine. Suddenly, a rustling and a sound of a stick snapping caught her attention. She spun around, her fur fluffed out to make her look twice as big. She squinted into the darkness, trying to see what had made that noise within the shadows of the forest that surrounded the waterfall. "Whose there?" She called out, ready to swipe at anything that decided to leap out at her.

At first, the creature was a mere shadow, then two bright amber eyes and a cute fluffy nose, two pointed ears, and a black body tipped with silvery-grey. The fox-pup looked surprised at Buttercup speaking, bouncing backward with a wary whine and giving a quick blink of shock. He had lost his way, as evidenced by the fact he didn't really look altogether much like a normal fox, much darker in color, though the features were the same. He had never seen a cat before. She didn't seem threatening.
After seeing the fox, Buttercup darted behind a large boulder and peered around it to get a look at the fox from a distance. "Whoa...what are you?" She whispered half to herself as she took in the unusual looking fox. It looked confused and lost but it was rare for mother foxes to ever go far from their pups. His mother had to be close by. She sniffed the air but the only weird smell was coming from the creature a couple fox lengths away from her. He probably lost his mother Buttercup thought. Taking a deep breath, she moved a little closer, moving extremely slow. "H-hello" she greeted, doubting that he even knew what she was saying. "Are you lost?"

Indeed, he was a bit thin for a fox-pup. He wasn't sure how long it'd been since he'd eaten. Maybe a few days. He'd had some really cold water... but that's it. The fox pup really didn't understand anything the she-cat was saying, but she seemed nice and gentle, so he very, very slowly stepped forward as well, sniffing the air hungrily. Maybe she knew where he could get something to eat. "Food?" He questioned, though to her, it came out a hungry whimper, it's meaning obvious, though the word was likely lost in the translation from fox to feline. He really was hungry, the more he thought about it. His mom had told him cats could make good meals, but she didn't look tasty, she looked... nice.
It seemed like the fox didn't mean her any harm and she began to relax a little but it also seemed like he was trying to tell her something. But what was it? "I dont-" she cut off when she heard a small grumble, was that his belly? Oh! He was probably hungry! "Are you hungry?" She questioned though she knew he didn't understand. "Okay, maybe I can find you something to eat. Wait here." She stalked away into the forest, searching for prey. She didn't want to go too far in case he decided to wonder. After some time of looking, she finally heard a mouse shuffling through the leaves. She crouched and stalked forward, careful not to make any noise. Once she felt like she was close enough, she leaped and landed squarely on the mouse, killing it with a swift bite to the neck. She picked up the mouse and headed back to where she had left the fox pup.
