Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Her eyes burned, and she finally gave in, blinking. Wisp rubbed her eyes hard enough to see bright lights dancing across her vision, rubbing until her paws came away damp. Sleep, damn it, eluded her like some cobra dancing just outside her reach, striking her if she dared get too close. The night sky swam in her vision when she opened her eyes again, mocking her with its expansive blackness and silence. She would give almost anything for some sleep, some dreamless rest she could sink into like a pool of dark, warm oblivion.
The she-cat's pelt blended into the forest surroundings so well it was as though she had worn it as an intentional disguise, sinking into the moonlit shadows like a wraith. Perhaps she ought to give sleep another try, she considered momentarily, discarding it almost as quickly as the thought appeared. She couldn't forget the terror-stricken face of her clanmate when she was roughly awoken from another nightmare. She had apparently been hissing and crying out in words that didn't make any sense, trying to strike anyone that got near her. She shuttered.
No, she could either try to sleep out in her secret nest in the territory where no one would hear her nightly terrors, or she could patrol some more. The longer she kept her paws moving, the easier it was to fend off the exhaustion that seemed to plague her very soul. Deciding on the latter, Wisp stood and silently leaped onto a low-hanging branch, making her way up until she found a branch she could easily leap from. She made her way through the territory in this manner, leaving nothing but a wispy shadow in her wake on the forest floor below. It was her curse, she supposed, to be nothing but a moonlit illusion to most of her clanmates.
( fyi MoonClan is fully nocturnal so she would be primarily be sleeping during the day. But she can of course sleep at night as well! Just wanted to let you know )
Cypressblaze was always keeping busy. She just couldn't hold her paws still. The torbie she-cat had been on two patrols already tonight but was unable to retire to camp for a rest. She felt it was a waste of time to take a cat nap when there was work to be done yet. Presently she was trying to collect lichen and moss for her nest when she saw a shadow cross over her. Her body tensed. Was that an owl, an eagle? Both could be deadly to her if large enough. Cypressblaze herself was average in size, perhaps a little long-legged, but would be easy prey for a bird with a six foot wingspan.
She turned around but only saw the ghostly form of a cat illuminated by moonlight, "Selene?" The Moon Goddess's name slipped from her mouth before she had time to think better of it. Of course it wasn't her, this cat had a dark pelt, and, after squinting a moment, she realized it was Wisp. Cyrpressblaze was familiar with the she-cat but not the biggest fan mainly because she was not pureblood and had never chosen a true Warrior name. Otherwise she didn't really have a lasting impression of her, "Oh, it's just you, Wisp. What are you doing? Hunting?"

{ { gotcha! I was shooting for the feel that she hadn't slept for a couple of days and was just trying to catch a wink anywhere she could, but I'll keep that in mind! } }
Wisp paused when she heard her Goddess' name whispered on the night breeze, landing gracefully in the crook of a pine tree. Her gaze slid down to the ground where she found Cypressblaze looking up at her in confusion. "Yes," she lied easily, navigating her way to the ground next to her clanmate. "Or trying to, anyway. Can't seem to catch anything right now. Pretty late to be out, I think." Wisp looked towards the horizon, slowly but surely lightening with the sun's rays. With the way her body was resisting sleep, it looked like she'd be awake for yet another day in a row. She let out a soft sigh, and then turned her attention back to Cypressblaze.
( That makes sense! There are just so many little rules that often aren't laid out well and that goes for all groups. Just trying to give you a tip when I can Although honestly you probably know better than me, you've been around longer lol)
"I hadn't realized it was so late." The sight of the rising sun triggered a yawn from Cypressblaze. She had problems sleeping but not for the same reason that Wisp did. She liked to snuggle up closer to her clanmates but was too anxious to ask anyone to let her. It didn't help that toms and she-cats didn't share the same den; she knew for a fact that her brother, Oakstorm, was the perfect big spoon. She wasn't looking forward to another awkward day of counting mice until she bored herself to sleep.
"I was having luck earlier with voles by the lake." Cypressblaze suggested, "I don't think you will be finding much of anything up there in the trees. But you shouldn't really fuss about it tonight. The fresh-kill pile has plenty of prey in it right now. You can leave the hunting to the next patrol."

{ { hehehe ty for letting me know! i'm still trying to get the hang of the PB honestly cx } }
"By the lake, huh?" asked Wisp absently, her tail-tip flicking in the air behind her. "I might have to give that a try." When Cypressblaze suggested she leave the hunting for the next patrol, Wisp stiffened slightly and shook her head with just a touch too much vehemence. "No, I definitely think I'd prefer to get some hunting in now. I don't blend in as well, but most of the prey seems to only worry about us during the night, so I have better luck under the sun."
Her lie rolled off the tongue like the well-practiced reasoning it was. No would could dispute what she said, though she doubted it entirely convinced them, either. The idea of sleep terrified her, as the shadow that hung in the corner of her vision seemed to slowly be encroaching, soon to eclipse her entirely. When that happened, she had to be sure to be far, far out of camp where she couldn't hurt anyone. No, she would likely go to the lake and pretend to hunt voles until sunset. Slitted eyes narrowed when the scent of prey caught its owner's attention. Crimson fur raised on its hackles, and a silent chitter shook its jaws. Food... The fox slunk through the underbrush, careful to keep its scent downwind. It had gone hungry for so long this season...

"Suit yourself." Cypressblaze replied with a shrug, gathering up the moss she had collected into a neat and tidy ball. She had lost track of the time and would have to return to camp virtually empty-pawed. This wouldn't be enough to clean out her nest. Since she had gone through the effort to collect the moss, though, she figured it would be a shame to just leave it here in the forest. The kits and even some of the apprentices would play with this for hours, "I can show you right were I found a nest of them. The voles, I mean. I know I didn't get them all and it's not too out of the way for me. Although, I must say, Selene's protection is much weaker under the sun's rays... It always brings bad luck to MoonClan cats, so I'd discourage day hunting. Maybe it won't be a problem for you, though."
She had said it so casually that it was easy to miss the insult. Cypressblaze was not the type of cat to start trouble or pick a fight; however, she was honest to the point of brutality. Her words, true or not, were what she believed. It wasn't Wisp's fault that she wasn't a full MoonClan cat like herself. It was honestly a shame that fate had dealt her such a poor hand. The young Warrior yawned again then hit her moss ball with her paw, rolling it across the forest floor into the direction of her hunting spot, then took a few steps toward it, "You coming?"

{ { big oof my bad I forgot to add this to my bookmarks :c }}
Wisp showed no reaction to her casual insult, not after so many moons hearing the same thing from every cat she lived with. It still fazed her, of course, but no longer did she allow the instinctive jerk of her head and narrowing of her eyes to betray her feelings. Dipping her head, she motioned for Cypressblaze to lead the way. "I'd appreciate it, thanks," she mewed softly, following silently in the other she-cat's pawsteps. "Right behind you."
The mottled warrior cast her gaze towards the Moon as they walked, silently wondering to herself how she came to be found in MoonClan. No one knew her true heritage. For all they knew, she could very well be of MoonClan's blood and simply abandoned by her mother in the territory to die. It wouldn't be the first time the superstitious cats she called family had shunned her for her strange coloring and eyes. She liked to believe Selene had blessed her with the odd splotches, but that wasn't the common opinion so she learned to keep to the shadows where her pelt couldn't be seen as clearly. Now, however, as dawn began to slowly creep over the horizon, she knew she'd have to watch Cypressblaze give her pelt that critical once-over that no one seemed to be able to resist doing.
Cypressblaze was ahead of Wisp, so she didn't get a good look at the other she-cat's pelt until they were by the lake. She squinted up at the sky which was presently dark gray. Birds were starting to wake up and sing their annoying little songs. She even saw some fish break the surface of the water, restless and eager to be warmed up by the Sun God's rays. She frowned and fought back a yawn, "You sure you really want to stay out this late?" Her eyes on Wisp now, she was alarmed to see her pelt was even more bespeckled than last time she had had a good look at this she-cat. She had been so much darker in her youth. It was almost as if Selene was trying to reveal Wisp from the very shadows. It was pretty but also a little alarming. She tried not to stare too much and turned her gaze toward the forest and tasted the air out of habbit. Wait... what was that scent? "Wisp... do you smell... fox?!"

Wisp opened her mouth to answer Cypressblaze when the other she-cat's next question cut her off and suffused her limbs with adrenaline. "Fox?" she asked, claws sliding out of their sheaths and into the soft earth beneath her paws. Her ears swiveled around, trying to hear any trace of another animal out there with them, but when that failed she opened her mouth and inhaled the air, tasting each scent before discarding it, trying to sift through until she caught that pungent stench Cypressbreeze meant.
"Fox," she affirmed, nodding solemnly. "It's close, too. With it being this far into leafbare, it's likely it's starving and moved into the territory to find food. Looks like we're first up on the menu. What do you want to do?"
"We can't risk leading it back to camp," Cypressblaze said with an assertive tone. She usually stressed herself out when being forced to make decisions like this. Luckily, she had convinced herself that she was somehow more of an authority over Wisp, so leadership came to her a little easier now than it usually did, "We need to find it and lure it off the territory as soon as possible. We aren't too far from NightClan's border. They can deal with it."
She tasted the air again and tensed up; the scent was growing stronger, "Wisp, you are good at climbing trees, right? See if you can find it from up there and I'll watch from down here. I'll get it to chase me." Her heart was really starting to race. She had never fought a fox before but she had seen them. Big, ugly monsters, three times the size of a cat and just as deadly.

"Why not make it a gift to SunClan?" she asked, though she was already moving to follow Cypressblaze's orders. It wasn't that she recognized the other she-cat as higher ranking than herself, only that quarreling over leadership in a moment like this was for fools. Her slender claws dug into the pine's bark as she silently climbed upwards, looking more like a wraith than a cat in fading moonlight. She gazed at the forest floor with the predatory eyes of an owl, trying to find the creature. "There!" she hissed to Cypressblaze, flicking her tail to the east. "It's just on the other side of that thicket."
"As much as I'd love to, SunClan is too far away. You follow from above and redirect it if it tries to run deeper into our territory. I'll chase it on the ground." Orders came freely from Cypressblaze's throat, almost as if she really were a ranking cat in the Clan. If Wisp had been a true clan-born Follower then perhaps Cypressblaze would have acted a lot more differently, but she found confidence and soundness of mind when ordering around a cat who she believed to be her lesser. She signaled with her tail for silence and then approached the thicket that Wisp had indicated. Her advantage here was that she had not been seen by the creature, so she could sneak up on it. A single cat didn't stand a chance against a fox, so she just had to seen like she was many. Creeping carefully up to her target, she was careful not to make a sound. She could see its red fur through the brush ever so slightly and held her breath. Selene, protect me and guide this fox far away from our territory.
With that, she leapt at the thicket with a ferocious caterwaul, making as much racket as she could to force the fox into running away.
