Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
(Anyone can join at this time! A patrol will be finding Larkwing! To save on time, I did not do sign ups so if you want to be part of the patrol, just jump in!)
Echomelody was chosen to lead a patrol to the Sunclan border and currently, she was sitting at the pool waiting for the rest of the patrol to join her. The moon was nothing more than a claw in the sky but it shown brightly, casting a silver glow on the forest and into the cenote. The air was cool and crisp so a slight breeze would be chilly but Flamingstar's order needed to be carried out despite whether they felt it was too chilly to go out. Echomelody's green eyes flashed from the moon's reflection in the pool as she stared at her own reflection. She missed Larkwing. He would have been a good and fair leader, unlike Flamingstar. She truly believed that things would be better if he were here instead of her but no one knew where he was. She looked to the stars that could be seen from in the cenote and sent up a silent prayer that one day he would return. Until then, they would need to be strong. He would want that.
Creampuff skipped alongside Echomelody, her paws briskly dancing about the land without a care in the world as she gave small little twirls.
"This is my first patrol as warrior," She said firmly before breaking into a giddy smile, her eyes could have burst with excitement in that moment. Since becoming a warrior she started every sentence with, this is my first mouse as a warrior, this is my first nap as a warrior, this is my first hiccup as a warrior. If Creampuff had been giddy and excited as a kit, it was like she was a kitten all over again, everything mundane and normal had suddenly become new and exciting once more.
"Hey Echomelody, what are you thinking about? You have this real serious look on your face," She said, emphasizing a bit of gruffness on the real serious.
Echomelody chuckled in embarrassed that Creampuff had caught that she was troubled. She couldnt really tell Creampuff that she was against Flamingstar's leadership because the young warrior was one of Flamingstar's adopted children and one of her favorites so she felt she needed to lie. "Ah, it's nothing, really. I guess I'm just a bit tired." She paused for a moment before changing the subject. "Its so cool that this is your first patrol as a warrior. I remember mine."

Infernalkaiser probably wasn't one of Flamingstar's favorites. The tom was anything but like his littermate, he was a rather serious sort, inwardly ambitious and paranoid. He was distant from the leader at best, and really, they hadn't interacted much, had they? At the same time, he wasn't really close with anyone at all, he'd only returned very shortly before Flamingstar took power, so his experience with NightClan appeared limited.
For the moment, he let the voices of the pair fall to the wayside, crowded in alongside others that weren't real, his gaze darting around as though the shadows would jump out at him. Despite this, his pace was surprisingly measured, expression neutral, and if one didn't know better, they would just assume the ebony tom was alert and nothing more.
"Yeah it is, isn't it! Wouldn't it be cool if some SunClan cat thought they could waltz in here and then we come out of nowhere, ninja style and strike them all the way into the sun?" She giggled and then snuggled into Infernalkaiser the moment she saw him, "Hey!" She squeaked, "What have you been up to? Today I rolled down the hills and then I found a rabbit, but I accidentally chased it into SunClan and lost it so that really sucked. Afterwards I chewed on a really good stick for an hour, so that way my day. Hopefully yours was a lot more action packed!" She said, deepening her voice on action packed to make it come off more gritty and dramatic.

Smokeshadow rolled his eyes at Creampuff's rambling. Why did he have to be on a same patrol with such a talkative cat? If he had his own way, he'd patrol alone. But he's a loyal NightClan member so he'd patrol with a skunk if that's what his leader wanted. He walked over toward Echomelody stretching out each of his long hind legs in turn. "I'm here," he told her. "Are there anymore joining this patrol?" He looked forward to checking out their border with SunClan. Perhaps they'll find something of interest. He flexed his claws. Who knows? They might even discover they've been stealing prey. He'd show those sun lovers a thing or two if he ever caught them trespassing.
Echomelody didn't reply to Creampuff, not like the young warrior even allowed her to before she started bugging her brother. Instead, she turned her bold forest green eyes toward Smokeshadow. "I believe this is all of us" she responded, silently counting heads. "But if Flamingstar sends anymore our way, they'll know where to find us." At that, she turned and led the patrol up the narrow path out of the cenote. As the black and white warrior emerged from the mighty hole in the ground, a stiff wind ruffled her fur. The wind was chilly and only made Echomelody want to run back inside to stay warm but then Flamingstar would make them go back out anyway. A light misty cloud escaped from her muzzle as she breathed, indicating the drop in temperature. While it wasnt quite cold enough to freeze the waters, it was still noticeably leaf-bare still. She let out a sigh. She couldnt wait for new-leaf.
"We may be going to the Sunclan border but if you see any prey, we should stop and catch it. We need to bring back prey whenever we can since food is scarce." She told her patrol as they headed deeper into the forest toward Sunclan territory. As they ventured deeper, the fog thickened. It seemed strange to Echomelody that there seemed to be more and more fog in the forests than before. With the bare leaves of leaf-bare, followed by the blinding fog, the forest at night seemed much more spookier. Echomelody flinched as an owl hooted in a nearby tree.

The same owl caused Smokeshadow to look up. The fur on the back of his neck had raised in response to the sound. The owl sat in a tree just ahead of him, it's large round eyes watching the cats as they passed by. "Out of all the birds around, owls seem to be the eeriest," he commented. Nursery tales from his kithood came to mind about owls carrying off misbehaving kits to eat for dinner. A smile came to his face at the memory. I'd like to see one try to carry me off now, he thought.
Creampuff eagerly sprang ahead, one skip after another, making sure to hop, wait, hop, wait. The thicker the fog got the smaller steps she took and before long she was walking in pace with the patrol glancing around, "Wow, I never knew adult patrols went into foggy territory," Creampuff exclaimed, "How magical, it's like any moment now a magical rabbit with antlers will come out and tell us we're the chosen ones and give us magical gems that when activated give us super powers. I call super speed!"
Echomelody didn't look at Creampaw and didn't show the same excitement. Instead, she was concerned. "We dont, Creampuff. Nightclan was never this foggy before Flamingstar became leader." Her voice was rather distant, as if she was hardly even there. She was looking around, trying to see through the thick fog with concern and confusion. Suddenly, a loud and low groan came from somewhere in the thick fog. Echomelody's fur rose on end and she unsheathed her claws. "That....didn't sound like an owl..."

"Define action packed." Infernalkaiser's voice was a soft sigh at his littermate's antics. Really, he didn't know how she was so abundantly energetic. His fur rose in the seconds after the groan, voices rising to a fever pitch as his eyes widened. "Definitely not an owl." He agreed, entire body already coiled with tension. He had no idea what it was, but his mind was already racing with the possibilities, even if the likelihood of it being anything was minimal... right?
Echomelody was quickly glancing around, trying to find out where the sound had come from. It was quite unusual and she was expecting something to jump out at them. "Stay together" Echomelody ordered, backing up against her patrol. Suddenly, she saw movement in the fog. "There!" She pointed, letting out a hiss of warning as the blurred figure neared them. Then, out of the fog, a silver tabby cat collapsed at Echomelody's paw. The moment her green eyes rested on the silver tabby, the black and white she-cat knew exactly who it was. "LARKWING!"

"..Larkwing?" It had been a long time sine Infernalkaiser had heard that name, and to be honest, the tom didn't even realize he'd been missing. That showed how much he was paying attention, he supposed, which was concerning to him, but for entirely different reasons than concern for the tom. But luckily, the voices quieted at the revelation that this wasn't some supernatural demon meant to be killing them all. Which, truthfully, probably wasn't a reasonable thing to think anyway, but the young warrior had never much claimed to be reasonable either. At least he knew enough to understand that Larkwing wasn't a threat, and moved forward cautiously to get a better look at the tom.
Echomelody bent down to check Larkwing. As she touched his ear, she could feel unnatural amount of heat. "Hes burning up! We need to get him to Turbulentsea or Ahava quickly!"
Creampuff's eyes darkened at the sight of Larkwing, a terrible feeling dragging across her heart like lightning. Was he lost all this time by himself? All alone in the fog just trying to survive? Her heart ached for the tom as she looked up at Echomelody, "Oh, oh OH! I'm really fast, I can go too Turbulentseas and get him to meet us half way. Okay!" Creampuff must have already decided this would be her first adult decision because she was off following the scents back to camp to fetch the medicine cat.
"Bring Umbrahound, too, if you can! Hes strong enough to help carry Larkwing back!" Echomelody called after Creampuff, hoping she heard her. She looked back down at Larkwing, "hold on, Larkwing. We are going to get you help."

Smokeshadow jumped aside as Creampuff nearly bowled him over in her hast to get help. He searched his memory. It was a long time since he remembered seeing Larkwing. He didn't realize he had been gone until now. So much had been going on in the clan that he didn't notice. But here he is now and in need of help. "I can help carry him," he offered as he came forward.
"Thanks, Smokeshadow. You, Infernalkaiser, and Umbrahound can all carry him once Turbulentsea has had a chance to look at him and confirm that he is first to be carried" Echomelody responded, grateful for Smokecloud's offer. Echomelody was very small in size, looking no more than the size of an apprentice. The black and white tuxedo she-cat would be unable to help carry Larkwing.

"No problem. Does anyone know what to do to keep him comfortable until then?" Smokeshadow asked. "With all this fog and mist around there wouldn't be anything at all that'd make a dry bed." He was feeling damp, wet and chilly himself. "What if we all washed him?" He figured that couldn't hurt and it might even help.
"We could try that. It might bring down his temperature" Echomelody nodded to Smokeshadow's suggestion before laying down beside Larkwing and began to groom his fur in long soothing strokes.
