Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. Autumngossamer had been sleeping for two days straight and deep inside she knew it was postpartum depression, that it naturally came from the sudden change of having kids in her family. From the guilt that she felt inside of her that she wasn’t doing her best for them. Yet despite recognizing that it was an irregular stir in her hormones it didn’t change how she felt. After the second day of realizing she had been lying in her nest for forty-eight hours she knew she couldn’t keep doing this. Her kits needed a good role model and she had been so endlessly excited when she adopted them, she couldn’t squander it by letting this stupid emotion take over her life. If she kept moving to make her life happier then maybe the sinking feeling that was pulling her under wouldn’t be able to keep hold of her for long.
“Scarletkit,” Her mother said with a sneaky demeanor, “Let’s go have a special mommy daughter day. I just convinced Shootingcomet to give us each makeovers. Your pelt will be shining like starlight by the end of this, are you in?” She smiled with the kind of endless unconditional loving smile that only a mom could have.

She purred rising to her paws to greet Autumngossamer and pressed her nose gently onto her mother's cheek. Being the Soothsayer meant that their mother was busier than every, but she knew that both of her adoptive parents loved her.
"I would like that" she replied, not waiting for her mother to finish, but at the suggestion of Shootingcomet coming to work on her coat, she felt the heat rise to her cheeks. But he was a BOY! Boys were gross, and the thought of having his paws on her made her skin crawl. The scarlet under her eyes seemed to grow darker in contrast to her soft creamy fur
"but I would like for you to do my pelt mommy" she looked down at her paws shuffling them slightly, trying to find a way out of having some tom touching her pelt. It just wasn't proper. "Honey, let me mommy tell you a feminine secret, this," She said gesturing to her body with a playful wave of her paw, "Isn't natural and the makeup, not even done by me. Shootingcomet does all the painting for me, manicures my claws, styles my fur. Trust me my darling, it takes an army to make me look the way I do. He's an artist, he would know what he's doing far better than I would. Plus Shootingcomet has been getting more clients lately so it's hard to book appointments like this, this is a real treat. Are you sure you'd rather have me, your mother get you fixed up?" Autumngossamer asked. She always thought it was lame when kits wanted their parents to do their fur and paint, then again she was also an orphan so what did she really know.

Boys were not supposed to touch she-cats unless they were realated to you or your mate, and she wasn't willing to make that sort of commitment to some stranger
"I know hh would do great... its just..." she stammered trying to figure out how to tell her and knowing just how silly it all sounded "Mom hes a BOY" she finally blurted out shuffling her paws in the nest as if that one statement explained everything. Autumngossamer stared at her before bursting out into laughter, "You're too much," She said wiping away a stray tear from her laughter before settling, "Alright, I'll pamper you, it's probably good for us girls to know how to take care of ourselves too. C'mon, all of our supplies that we'll need are at the hot springs, but before we can get going I think you need a badger ride," she said lowering herself down for Scarletkit to hop onto her back.

[attr="class","box2"]Scarletkit couldn't hide the relief on her face when her mother agreed to change their plans, letting out a sigh of relief and her fur began to lie flat. The thought of some tom touching her pelt had gotten her all riled up.
A day spent with her mother pampering her sounded much better! After all it was a chance for the two of them to have one on one time without her siblings getting in the way.
She squeaked loudly, jumping onto Autumngossamer's back and wrapping her front paws around her neck with a big grin on her face. "Hold on tight," Autumngossamer warned with a smile before racing off and out of camp, but not before telling Duskslayer to not meet them there so her daughter wouldn't get a heart attack.
When they reached the hot springs she slowed down into a walk and only lied down once they walked onto the stone. She lied her belly down onto the hot rocks, feeling the amazing warm sensation funnel down her, "The grounds hot so make sure your paws get used to it before walking. And you are not allowed to walk or move away from me. These hot springs can get very deep for a little kit like you and because the waters not clear I could lose you. That's why we're staying in this more shallow hot spring so no running off."

[attr="class","box2"]Faster Faster!" She yelled gently tugging on the tufts of fur around her neck to keep from falling off. She loved the feeling of the wind on her face and the fact that the air around them was getting warmer and warmer.
As the reached the hot springs, her laughter filled the air as she dipped her paw into the water and then jerked it upwards just as her mom gave the warning about the ground being hot
"Is it the SUn God who makes it so hot?" she asked curiously, finally slipping off her mother's back and into the shallow part of the hot spring. It burned a little at first, but it soon started to more more soothing than hurtful
"I don't know how to swim" she replied looking out over the water "so you don't have to worry about that" she purred
"Yes, the Sun God warms our home to keep us comfortable and envied among the other clans," She smirked a bit before smiling more gently, "One leafbare we had to take care of TWO whole clans not including ourselves, but our land was so plentiful that it took us two weeks before we began running out of prey. We're a very strong clan," She assured her daughter proudly.
Autumngossamer moved towards the water and looked back to her, "You not being able to swim is what I'm worried about. I can't swim either though, which is why if something happened to you I am not sure what I would do. Some cats teach themselves how to float, you're small enough to safely practice, it could very well save your life someday."
She moved over to the supplies, "But first thing I need you to do is get completely soaked so we can make your fur nice and glossy," She said, sitting down in the water that was much too shallow for her, but perfect for Scarletkit. She imagined that someday Scarletkit would come back here when she was older and be confused by how she could ever have sat pleasantly in such a little pool of water.

It was almost enough to lull her to sleep, even though she knew that was dangerous "SunClan is pretty great" she agreed nodding her head "We are the best clan in the WWHHOOLLLEEE forest" she bragged, snapping her eyes open and the mention of getting soaking
"You mean I have to go under the water?" she asked wide eyed. Her mother had given her baths before, but she had never been under water before "but cats don't breathe water" she blinked, looking down at the water quizically and then gazing back up at Autumngossamer "Isn't that how you drown?" she had heard terrible storied about how bad it was to drown. Of course the senators had probably exaggurated it to make sure the kits stayed away from the river in the camp, but still...
"No honey, you have to perfect-" She dunked her head under water before flipping her head out and like a lions maned water perfectly circulated with her heads movements as it whipped up in a wave of water. She rocked her head, the glittery water gently shaking free from her face as she sighed, trailing her hand lightly against her face and then gave a cute smile back to Scarletkit, "You just whip your head right out and make everyone jealous of that natural velvet fur of yours. Or you could just blot water on your face like everyone else... But still the whip and toss is always attractive," Autumngossamer explained.

Did she really want Lovesmitten to murder the other toms her age? She still could remember the time that she had been playing with one of the male apprentices, and he had taken him to the side to 'talk'. They guy still couldn't look her in the eyes, much less speak more than a few words to her.
"Mom I don't mind looking good, but isn't this taking it a bit far?" she shuffled her paws, sending small ripples into the water around her "I guess I'm just asking who are you trying to impress? "Oh darling, I'm impressing humanity. If I didn't doll myself up everyday what would the world possibly become? Cats would run rampant with disease, the sun may never rise," She let out a dramatic weak sigh, "Oh, the things I do for this planet I swear, but that's what happens when you're as nice as I am. There is no mountain too high in the name for beauty, Scarletkit, remember that. What would the clan think of you if you had a chipped claw? Why you wouldn't be able to fight a battle with that, not a chance? And if your paint wasn't on point everyone would think we're sloppy. And what about that cute shy smile of yours, why I would simply die without it. Absolutely DIE. Mhmm," Autumngossamer said confidently as she gently brushed water into her daughters fur, "We'll just get some warm water on you and then apply some fur treatment. You'll come out smelling as fruity as an orchard and soft as lamb ears. I grew up around orchards and lamb ear plants and I probably miss DayClan's plants the most. It's a small price to pay for the wondrous sunlight, but I do miss it. But the DayClan brats aren't that much of a fan of me so even though we can tried on their land I'm not as welcomed as other SunClan cats are."

Scarletkit had no idea what lamb's ear was, but the ears on cats were always the softest part so it was probably the same for lambs. She closed her eyes as the warm water was brushed gently into her fur. Even though she didn't care much for beauty, she had to admit that all the pampering did feel nice. A even purr rumbled in her throat "Well I will leave that to you momma, I'm sure I will look like a different cat when you are done"
"Never fear your power, whether it's strength or beauty," Autumngossamer said gently as she scrubbed the substance into her fur. She did so twice, washing it off and placing it back in before nodding to Scarletkit, "Alright you can relax on the stone and sun yourself and I'll do your paint! How about we each have a matching design. I'm thinking roses and lionesses."

Scarletkit purrded "YOU MEAN IT!!" the idea of matching paint with her mom was obviously rather exciting for the young she-cat who adored her mother "Can we do liliesinstead of roses though? I like them better, and I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea" after the romance festival she couldn't help but associated roses with love and romance. She wasn't into that... At least not yet
"Aww," Autumngossamer said gently brushing her paw against Scarletkit's cheeks, "Of course, we can paint lilies instead of roses, those sound precious. Do you still want lionesses? We could always do hummingbirds," She offered, but had decided to start with Scarletkit's since her body was a bit of a smaller canvas. It was incredibly nerve wrecking, she had never really painted before, when she was janus paint was just becoming a thing, she should of been on top of her game. But originally she hardly painted herself any designs than the bare minimum, now paint was totally in and trending, but without Shootingcomet she was going to have to learn how to on her own.

Scarletkit nodded eagerly, glad that he mom agreed "The lioness are fine" besides to her the meant strength and loyalty she tried to position herself so that Autumngossamer could access her pelt easier "Just remember that I can only use red paint" she pointed out, but luckily the red would look great against he orange sunkist markings
"Okay, then I'll use red on myself too, one of the perks of being soothsayer," Autumngossamer said as she at first began to trace lightly over her daughters pelt, in fear that the design would fail, but then reminded herself that this was for fun. So long as Scarletkit and her were having a fun time that was really all that mattered. Plus her daughter was a kit, taking too long with the paint was never going to fly, she would get impatient soon enough so this was never going to be an incredibly artsy design. "Alright, lilies are all done, time to make a lioness," She purred, especially proud of the lilies, but hated the idea of ruining them now by drawing a bad lioness. She bit at her free claws for a moment before using her other paw to begin painting the lioness. When she finished it wasn't exactly... Good looking, but you could tell it was meant to be a lioness so close enough.
"Uhhh, okay perfect!" Autumngossamer exclaimed, deciding that would work since she drew it on her daughters back and hey, she wouldn't be able to see how it looks anyways.

Scarletkit giggle, squirming under her mother's attentions as her mom applied the paint. The little ginger she-cat giggled as she finished rising to her paws and spinning in circles trying to see "I love it! My sisters are going to be so jealous" she ran over to her mom bumping her head up against her mother's chin
