Tornadoblast darted across the small meadow after the rabbit he had spotted. Grass and dirt flew in his wake. The need for stealth was over and nothing but speed and strength was needed. It was all completed in just a moment and he stood satisfied with his front feet upon the lifeless body. He knew with the coming of Newleaf the prey would be more active. He looked down at the rabbit and smiled. This would be a good addition to the fresh kill pile.
"Good catch!" Roseshimmer was sitting nearby. She had been hunting for a while now and had only stopped for a moment to rest. She was glad to see the end of leaf bare. She hated cold nights and the possibility of snow. Snow had been fun when she was a kit, but now that she was a warrior she didn't like the hunger that snow tended to bring. "Have you caught much?" By this point she had risen to her paws and was padding towards him. It would be nice to have a bit of company after all.

"This is the first one," Tornadoblast meowed smiling. He was pleased one of his clanmates saw him in action and not only that, a pretty she cat too. "And thanks," he added. "What about yourself? Are you out hunting on this fine day too?" He picked up the rabbit, it's fresh warm scent filling his nose and padded quickly over to where Roseshimmer stood. This indeed is starting out to be a good day for the outgoing tom.
"Yeah it seemed like too good of a day to waste." The weather was perfect after all. She couldn't imagine wasting her time in the camp when she could be out doing something productive for the clan. There would be time to rest once work was done. "Maybe we can hunt together for a bit?" She supposed a bit of company would be nice. It could get boring on one's own after all.

"That sounds like a good plan," Tornadoblast replied smiling. "Two are better than one especially when it comes to hunting." And showing off his hunting prowess in front of Roseshimmer wouldn't hurt either. "So what are you good at? That is," he went on to clarify what he meant. "What do you like to hunt the most? I enjoy chasing rabbits but birds give a good challenge too."
"Mice honestly." She laughed after she said this. "I know it must sound cliche, but I do tend to catch more mice than anything else." She had never thought to hard on it honestly. As long as she was bringing food back to the clan it didn't matter how much of what prey she caught. "I like squirrels as well. I like the thrill of the hunt mostly. Like when you have to remain quiet and undetected until the very last moment. It's exciting." She supposed chasing prey down was fun as well, but it just didn't give her the same thrill that she got from sneaking up on unsuspecting prey. "I'm just glad newleaf is coming at last. I hate the cold and I suppose being hungry isn't all that pleasant either." She shot him a grin. She was honestly in a good mood today. Hunting tended to put her in a good mood most days honestly.

"I agree," the gray tom replied. "Being cold and hungry are the two biggest reasons why I don't like Leafbare all that much." Some birds flew overhead just then tweeting loudly. "I do believe that all of nature seems to feel the same way," he laughed as his eyes followed the winged creatures. "So then, why don't we go over to the oak trees and try our luck there. There's usually a squirrel or two running around trying to find acorns. And as I recall, mice trend to frequent that area as well." Torndaoblast had caught plenty of mice in the past but he seldom went looking for them specifically. "Mice aren't much of a challenge to catch but I must admit they're sure tasty and they do fill hungry bellies."
"They may be easy to catch, but they are also fun, especially if you have to look for them in more challenging conditions such as rain or snow." Her eyes then lit up. "How about we make it a challenge? Whoever wins has to do what the other says for an entire day." Of course that would be between normal clan duties, but the thought of a challenge excited her. It was just the incentive she needed to make hunting that much more interesting.

"You're on!" Tornadoblast replied eagerly. "And I won't even count the rabbit I just caught even though it's weight's worth at least ten mice. We'll both start out fresh." The wild haired gray tom was confident he'd come out on top, after all wasn't he one of the best hunters in the clan? "So, let's get going to the oak trees," then feeling magnanimous he added with a wave of his tail, "Ladies first. You may lead the way."
"You're so kind." Her tone held a note of playful sarcasm as she moved to take the lead. A bit of competition was just what she needed to change things up a bit. Even she would admit that doing the same thing every day could be a bit stale. "You seem pretty confident. Confidence is a good thing, but don't be too surprised if I actually win." She was teasing of course. She was confident as well, but honestly all of this was more just for fun. She had needed something different to do before her mundane hunting trip made her die of boredom.

"You think so?" Tornadoblast asked teasingly. "We'll see." He walked along side Roseshimmer enjoying both her company and the warm sunshine that shone down from a cloud dotted blue sky. The air still had a cold chill to it but knowing Newleaf was just starting made it feel not so cold. He was glad she came across his path. This contest was a spark of excitement that had been missing in his life for so long.
"Oh I know so." She flicked his ear with her tail. "So, what would you ask me to do if you did win?" Honestly, for her she would do something funny, a joke of sorts like ask him to pretend he was a squirrel in the middle of the camp. She was sure that would be a sight to see and it would be good for a laugh as long as he didn't really take her teasing to heart. She was curious what he might have in mind though.

(That's okay. I've been away for awhile.)
"Hmm, I haven't given it much thought," Tornadoblast replied with a smile. "I'll have to think on it for awhile. But don't worry. I know I'll come up with something good." What should he have her do if he wins? Perhaps he'll have her take his place on a patrol or maybe have her groom his unruly fur. "So what would you have me do for you if by chance you win? Or are you keeping it a secret?"
