ello everyone c: gidget and I have planned some friendly-ish rivalry between summerclan and fallclan over a line of trees on their border lol
basically one day cal said, "wow those trees are pretty, I'm sure summer won't notice if we just scoot these scent markers..." then ratstar and patrol shows up and is like "yo fam, whatcha think you're doing?" and they have a little battle over the trees which ends in cal and pals being outnumbered
however, we will time skip and cal will return with a whole army of pals to reclaim these trees lol
and from there it'll just go back and forth and turn into "we only want these because if we give up, that guy wins" while the clans are just rolling their eyes and almost turning it into a training session instead of an actual battle c'x
if you want to join in on any of these patrols then just respond c: no need to be formal or anything and apprentices are allowed --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Calamitystar let out a yawn as he walked slowly along the Summerclan border with his little patrol of cats. "Ughhhhhhhhhh... patrols are so booring." He whined, feeling the impatience prickling at his paws. Why in the world was their border sooooo looonnnggg. He glanced back at his patrol, making sure they were still awake before turning back to the task at paw. As his ice blues swept the scenery, he had to admit it was very beautiful on their side of the border... It made him frown a little. Those trees were just so nice and pretty while the Fallclan side was all dead leaves. He wanted nice trees too! His eyes cut back to the patrol as a mischievous plan hatched in his mind. "Heya, friends... I think those trees right there would be a good source of, uh, prey. Yeah, prey, or something. Look how nice and shaded that area is too... Wow, it's so nice. Summerclan has that all over their territory, right? Don't ya think it's a little unfair we get all the crummy dead leaves from those trees but not the trees themselves? Surely Summerclan wouldn't notice if we just, uh, scooted our line just past those pretty little trees, yah?" The leader attempted to put on his best charm by adding a handsome wink at the end of his proposal. Hopefully they would bite...
Ratstar leapt across the river stones with minimal effort, landing gracefully enough on the grassy bank, where the rest of his group was patiently waiting for him. The tom sighed tiredly to himself; another day, another border patrol. Even though he had been Summerclan's leader for nearly a moon now, the tom found himself hesitating for a fraction of a second before striding past his clanmates to the front of the patrol, silently signaling for them to follow with a wave of his tail. As they began their walk through the Wildflower Meadow, the one-eyed cat took notice of the tiny green shoots poking out of what was barren dirt just a few days ago. Only about half-way across the field did he actually glance up at their destination; the unreasonably long treeline that marked the separation between Summerclan and Fallclan. Ratstar had yet to officially meet any of their western neighbors yet, and he couldn't help but wonder if they were as tired of re-marking the entire length of the border as he was starting to. Suddenly, he stopped, raising his tail so the rest of the patrol stopped with him. They were still a couple yards away, so it was hard to make out, but those were cats over by the trees, right?
"Hey, someone with two workin' eyes might need to double-check for me, but I think we might be runnin' into some o' our neighbors over there."
Largelight, who had been drifting near the back of the patrol due to being too preoccupied with the budding flowers, flinched at the sudden order, turning with wide green eyes over to the treeline. "Y-you mean Fallclan?" The former kittypet squeaked, instinctively scrambling behind the nearest warrior for safety. She had heard stories about the other clans in the area from her new clanmates; about how huge some of the other groups were, even compared to the population of Summerclan, with towering warriors that dwarfed her portly form in comparison! Ooh, she really didn't like that at all! "D-Do we actually have to go over there? They're just probably marking their side, yes? Can't we just wait here til they're finished?"

"Don't be so mouse brained," Dustfeather meowed. Inwardly he rolled his eyes thinking of how timid most kittypets were. Even after becoming clan cats many, at least to his own thinking, still keep their kittypet mindset. "Of course we'll have to investigate while they're there. How else can we stop them if they're up to no good?"

"Well if there's nothing wrong, then there shouldn't be an issue with us making sure everythings all good." Markedpelt said shrugging. "We haven't really interacted with our neighbors since the big NovaClan battle anyways, can't hurt to say hello. And if there's something amiss, well we'll deal with it." The tom said as he padded ahead a few steps, before glancing back at the rest of the patrol. "If you think that's best Ratstar," He said pausing where he stood, not wanting to step on the new leader's toes.

Always ready for action, Dustfeather had started to step forward but stopped when heard what Markedpelt had said. He hadn't been on many patrols with any clan leader so he had been accustomed to just acting. This delay irritated him but he was able to hide it well. Only his tail waved slightly which could have been interpreted as just being his eagerness to check this situation out. He too looked over at Ratstar while his leg muscles ached to get into action.

Poisonrush rolled his eyes at the idea, not falling into the trap, the leader weaved into his words. "That's a terrible idea, Calamitystar. It would surely be asking for some sort of confrontation." Not that that would be a bad idea for me. I sure could use some action right about now. he thought. It was probably for the better that he went along on the patrol. If anything, Poisonrush thought it absolutely necessary that Calamitystar should have at least one level headed member in their group at all times. "Maybe we could talk to them about possibly sharing those trees?" he suggested.
Redsky had been following the tail end of the patrol. The senior warrior enjoyed border patrol because it usually just consisted of slowly meandering along. So this possible intrusion by FallClan was not really what he wanted to deal with today. The red tom had been a loner in his younger days and was really just hoping to coast by till he felt old enough to retire. “I do think Markedpelt is right, we should talk to them.” He stepped forward as he spoke, trying to get a better look at what was going on by the border.
Puffinheart trailed just behind a few members of the patrol and managed to inch forward as Calamitystar suggested what she assumed he thought was a brilliant plan. Brilliant? Sure, if they were looking for a way to trifle with their Summerclan neighbours and ruffle a pelt or two. She swivelled her eyes to the side as another clan mate, Posionpelt spoke up, but his comment made the small tuxedo frown. "I don't think they'd be very likely to just allow us to share this place...though it doesn't even look like they use those trees often" Puffinheart pointed out, her soft seafoam eyes peering out towards the lush trees that made their own on the Fallclan's side look all frumpy and dull. She had to admit though, Calamitystar had a point...the tree's on that side were really pretty...
Summerclan
The figures that she had scented along with the rest of her patrol moved in the distance on their side of the border and Bearbriar's eyes narrowed as she followed Ratstar's observations and noticed the small group head closer to the trees on their side of the border. "I agree. It wouldn't hurt to check it out, and worst case scenario we have to give them a friendly reminder that borders are borders and should be respected as such" came Bearbriar's low but velvety meow, voicing her agreement with Markedpelt and Redsky. It seemed the whole patrol was in agreement on paying the neighbouring patrol a visit, and while the dark tabby itch for a source of action or spice, wasn't sure a squabble over borders was spicy enough.
Tatteredraven stayed in close proximity to Calamitystar as they approach the tree line, she wasn't sure she agreed with starting trouble over them but the black tom seemed determined to make them Fallclans. "I think you've got your head in the clouds if you think they wont notice." She spoke the words softly to Calamitystar, it didn't mean she wasn't going to help in his plan but he should still thin a little more... rationally.

Fallclan
He frowned slightly, knowing that they were probably right. But still.... so pretty. He put on his best serious, tactical face and nodded. "I suppose you're right, but they don't use these trees ever. I mean, I can't recall the last time I saw a Summerclan cat over here." He stepped over the border slightly and continued on. "Do you hear that? These trees are full of prey that isn't being caught. If Summerclan isn't going to use them, then maybe we should challenge that? It's a shame to see it go to waste, especially in leaf bare when everyone is hungry." He glanced at them through the corner of his eye, concealing the hopefulness that they would cater to that idea more, but inwardly he still simply thought they were pretty.
Ratstar turned, taking the moment to listen and consider the opinions of every member of his patrol: Dustfeather, Markedpelt, Redsky, Bearbriar, and Largelight. The one-eyed tabby couldn't help but feel a stab of slight annoyance when Dustfeather tried to push onward without his orders - he was the leader here, after all - but he tried not to let that get to him, considering the other tom never seemed to like him from the start. The Senior warrior aside, everyone else seemed to prefer a more peaceful approach in greeting their neighbors. "If everyone's agreed, then," he finally meowed with a curt nod to his clanmates. "We'll approach with caution and respect. If there's any trouble, we'll defend our border on my mark," he added with a sharp look at Dustfeather. With a sweeping gesturing of his tail, the group continued padding across the meadow.
Largelight flinched at Dustfeather's dismissive remark, her ears falling against her head in slight shame. Sure, she was timid and easily frightened, but did he have to be so mean about it? Pouting, the she-cat scooted closer to Markedpelt and Bearbriar for protection and reassurance, feeling her heart sink when Ratstar decided they press onward to confront Fallclan. Sighing, she slowly drifted towards the very tail-end of the patrol, dragging her tail behind her.

Dustfeather looked stoically back at his leader. He knew Ratstar was trying to intimidate him but he failed miserably. He would never be afraid of a crow food eating scavenger. Sure, Ratstar was their leader now, so he respected the position he held but nothing more. It would take a lot for him to respect the cat in the position. Maybe someday he would but he didn't see that day coming anytime soon. He would continue to be the best warrior he could be for his clan, the best clan there ever was. And thinking about best, there wouldn't be a better leader than his grandfather Hawkstar. What was he thinking right now in StarClan about their current leader? Then a shiver ran up his spine. Did Hawkstar give Ratstar a life? No, he wouldn't do a thing like that!
Dustfeather followed in the rear of the patrol walking near Largelight. He noticed how subdued she now looked. She's got to learn what being a warrior means, he thought. She's got to toughen up. But then again she's a clanmate and needs encouragement and guidance at least until she finds her backbone. "Stick close to me if there's any fighting," he meowed. "I'll help watch your back."
A sideways glance towards Tatteredraven and the small, spunky tuxedo found herself absently nodding her head in agreement with the she-cat's statement. She wasn't sure a blatant challenge was what they needed, nor did they need to confrontation that would surely follow. But their leader seemed determined to make those trees theirs. Even if the small grove of trees wasn't big, Calamitystar had a point in saying that it could provide them with ample food, especially during leafbare. "Although one has to wonder why Summerclan isn't using the tree's? Maybe they have no use after all?" Puffinheart mused, hoping to dissuade Calamitystar without bluntly saying that his idea wasn't the best.

Bearbriar watched the silent exchange of expressions that passed over Ratstar's and Dustfeather's face and thanked the stars that's all it came to. She wasn't one for verbal confrontation like that, she wasn't that good when it came to expressing herself anyways, she did much better physically dealing with a problem...as brash as that sounded. The large molly threw a soft glance over to Largelight when she'd felt the smaller cat's supple pressure, searching for comfort from Dustfeather's sharp remark. Though the warrior didn't get the feeling that the tomcat was truly trying to be mean to the former kittypet. "Yeah, we've got your back if anything happens Largelight" she assured her, nodding to display her agreement with Dustfeather's prior statement.
