Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
She stepped back to admire her work and tilted her head to the side for a moment. She leaned forward to press a twig back into place before nodding and reclining onto her haunches. The apprentices had been scuffling around and smashed a hole in nursery. Ottersplash took it upon herself to fix the damage. She was a caretaker, after all. How could she keep kits safe in a broken nursery? Evening was her favorite time of the day. Camp was settling down, the lighting was warm and soothing, and all the cats would be tired from the day's work. Content, happy, and safe. She padded to the entrance of the nursery and poked her head inside, her eyes shifting to the expecting mothers who would soon be giving birth. She would help them through it and be there for their every need when the time came. After deciding all was well, she did a 180 turn and lowered her body to the ground so that half her body was in the den and her head and shoulders were in the sun where she could observe camp. Sometimes this was a lonely job and she wished she had a steady friend to talk to but it was well worth it.
Softpelt, the medicine cat apprentice had noted the whole in the nursery earlier that morning as she went out to gather herbs. She returned with the herbs and noted the hole fixed causing the fluffy white she cat to blink in surprise. “Oh, Ottersplash,” Softpelt meowed setting down the bundle of herbs. “Did you fix the hole?”
Ottersplash quickly rose to her feet as she noticed Softpelt moving towards her. The dusty brown she-cat slowly blinked a greeting to the medicine cat apprentice and gave her a warm smile, "Yes! I didn't have much else to do so I thought I'd make myself useful," She glanced back at her handiwork and then back at the herbs the other cat had bundled. Her happy expression dropped slightly, "I'm sorry, I didn't realize you had went in search of supplies, I would have let you know." She noted, feeling bad that Softpelt had went through the trouble of preparing to fix the hole.
Softpelt waved her tail, "Oh don't worry dear! I was going to repair it after I returned with herbs. I can just stash these supplies for later!" She said with a soft purr. "But I'm glad another cat has taken up the role of working with the queens, it's important work." The white she cat said.
Ottersplash bowed her head, licking her chest fur as the medicine cat spoke. There wasn't much hope for her slick brown fur, it almost always looked unkempt but a she-cat could try. She was a rather feminine feline and hated her uncooperative pelt at times. It didn't help that she was speaking to a beautiful, silk-furred white cat. They were opposites. Her ears flicked at the compliment and she gave her a soft nod, "Well thank you, Softpelt. That means a lot. I feel like I may be over-stepping sometimes," Ottersplash's gaze fell to the ground for a moment before her eyes flitted back up to the other she-cat. "The queens are mothers, they know what they're doing but I just want to be there for them. Even if they want to simply stretch their legs, I want them to not worry and to trust in me," She mewed, shaking her head just a bit for rambling.
