Her nightmare was a screen she could only watch. It was all going on, but there was nothing she could do about it. She simply watched as cats attacked each other ruthlessly. They had some reason, something about escaping. Golden could make out some of the cats as familiar but most were a mystery. Even as the channel changed stationed, she pressed a button to keep it on the same feed. Cause she had to keep following the one clear figure in the drama. It was Fia. As much as she hated watching her friend suffer, Golden couldn't look away. The room she was in was still. She could make out talking in the back but she couldn't explore it. She could only watch the screen. She blinked, clicking the button again but as she cycled back, she saw a different view that charged at Fia from behind and jumped. Without even thinking, Golden jumped towards the tv. "Fia!"
Goldenphantom woke with a start, morning only just creeping into the den. Her heart pounded as she struggled to stand, but fell back down like she was held back. Dizzy, she could barely make out the familiar surroundings. Slowly, she began to calm down, the fresh smell of Dayclan bringing her to her senses. It was a dream. She was here. And Fia? Golden looked around, but Fia wasn't there. Anxiety washed over her, but she managed to make it to her paws and crawled out of the den. It wasn't like her to be up now. Just where could she be?
Fia Cendrillon had been up for hours now, and still her heartbeat hadn't slowed, the scene replaying in her mind over and over and over again. Goldenphantom bleeding out right before her eyes. Instinctively, she'd known she'd been watching a view of it from the attacker's point of view, some fluffy orange cat that felt familiar and reeked of SunClan. This wasn't any ordinary fight, it was in some sort of arena, flashes of other cats flickering around the edges. Lorelei, Sen, Funk, Glowstar, familiar and not, pitted against each other in some sort of death match. The particulars didn't matter, only the dying form of her fellow Immortal Council member, watching the light bleed out of her eyes and into nothingness. She'd taught her so much, and yet, it hadn't been enough. All the training in the world couldn't have saved her from him, and no matter how well she'd been doing, it was all for naught.
She'd woken up with a choking sound, tears streaming down her eyes, her heart raging against her chest as terror, guilt chewing a hole in her stomach. Goldenphantom, dead because she hadn't been good enough to save her. The ash and shadow she-cat with her ember flickers couldn't get it out of her mind, no matter how much she told herself it was a dream. It didn't feel like one. It felt real, way, way too real. The feline had already checked, though, and the other she-cat had been sleeping soundly, last she'd checked.
The she-cat wasn't far, just a few paces away from the den, practicing battle moves. She moved with a fierce fluidity, like a striking snake, smooth grace and deadly force behind sharpened claws. To protect Goldenphantom, she had to be better first. To teach her and give her the skills to survive, she first had to ensure she was at the peak of her abilities. She had been getting soft recently. She needed to practice more, harder. Needed to be like Wanderingwight, stronger than anyone else, so that no one could hurt those close to her. It didn't even occur to her that her feelings were strangely strong for the situation.

Goldenphantom could have cried out of relief when she saw Fia not that far. Her mind couldn't help but wander to what she could have seen. Could Fia have won that fight? Could she have lived? Golden wasn't sure. She ran into another character who spared her life, and they talked. And the ridiculously tall redhead promised to find a way out for her. But then she died. And now her memory was fuzzy and she couldn't remember the face or the voice. Just the look. She remembered Fia being so depressed, just walking around absentmindedly before she was attacked. Golden couldn't help but think of the worse, of Fia bleeding out in front of her. And she couldn't do a thing.
The thought made her shake some, and swallow some of the grief already rising up in her. It was fake, but a deep sadness filled her. One almost too deep. But she couldn't be much help to Fia. Golden knew a good bit about fighting, but not enough as Fia. She would have been better off telling her how to tell apart good berries and poisonous berries. "Fia..." Her voice trailed off when the black and grey cat paused in her movements.

She stopped at the sound of the voice. In particular, she could hear the underlying emotion in it, and that made her turn to look at the she-cat with a look of concern. "Are you okay?" Her tone was more forceful than she intended it, sounding almost a hint desperate as her gaze roved over Goldenphantom's body, as if searching for the wounds burned into her mind from her nightmare. She was okay, the Immortal Council member forced herself to realize when she didn't see a single injury on her, though she still felt her heart aching at the look in her eyes. She stepped closer on instinct, touching her nose to the side of the other feline's muzzle gently. She was real, she was here, she was physically okay.

Goldenphantom let her, skin feeling hot underneath Fia's focused gaze. It took her a couple glances to realize how unharmed she was too. She was okay, and alive. And so was everyone else. She could barely feel her heart pounding anymore, not too used to the feeling. "I am. What about you?" Letting out a purr, she turned and pressed her nose to Fia's in an eskimo kiss before closing her eyes and resting her head against the grey and black she-cat. "You had a rough night too?"
"Full of adrenaline, and ready to kill anything that even shows a suggestion of hostility, but yeah, I'm okay." Fia replied, the tall feline leaning into the other's touch without much hesitation. "Just a nightmare. Usually, they don't bother me, but this one was... different, it got under my skin." She used to have more nightmares when she was younger, and considering her history, that wasn't altogether surprising. As she'd grown, they'd lessened, and she'd mostly learned how to overcome them or ride them out without generally being too moved by it all. This, really, was the first one that had shaken her in moons. Probably because Goldenphantom in particular was it's focus, rather than her past, or DayClan as a whole. Though she was slowly starting to relax, her heart still beating hard but for a slightly different reason, her body was still fairly tense, only unwinding a fraction.

Poor thing, though it didn't sound much different from how she normally was. Goldenphantom wrapped her tail around Fia's side reassuringly. A nightmare, huh? Same as her. What were the odds? She didn't ask, and not because the last thing she wanted to do was separate herself from Fia. She could hear her heart pounding and started to purr, trying to calm Fia down as much as she could. "Yeah, I had one too. But it's okay." Golden was the same way. Though her nightmares still hadn't released their grip on her yet. This one was okay, this one was at least not real.

"Now that you're here, I know I'll be alright." Fia wasn't the subtle or cautious sort. And though her mind and emotions were all jumbled up, she offered a sort of smile to Goldenphantom, happy for the company, even if her heart still ached at the thought she couldn't protect or teach the other she-cat enough to ensure that any enemy that could harm her would be dealt with before it reached her. That didn't mean she wouldn't try her best, even if it killed her.

Goldenphantom blushed a little, not that Fia could have seen with how they sitting. It was said with a bluntness that made her head swim. It was also the kind of thing she was thinking. Even with how scared the pair had been, the golden tabby felt so much better just sitting here next to her. Though she was only slightly better at understanding her own feelings, this kind of stuff went over her head. Pulling herself away slowly, painfully, she smiled up at Fia, dark brown eyes warm. "I feel the same way. Now, do you wanna get something to eat? It always makes me feel better after a nightmare." Not just because she needed the energy after using it all up in the dream.
