11.06.2022 The site has been transformed into an archive. Thank you for all the memories here!
Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
LIKE I SAID IN THE MESSAGE, THE REGIME IS LOOKING FOR A NEW SCOUT SUPERIOR. This role is strictly roleplay and is not the equivalent to the deputy position as of now, as our formal deputy is Honeystorm. Because of this, anyone can tryout!
Instead of doing a formal tryout thing, we are just going to have an rp for interested cats and Gossamer and Shule if Shule is so inclined to come. Your cat does not have to originate from the Regime, particularly because of the shortage of Scouts right now. They can be a cat that was brought in from the outside. Gossamer used to run a gang, so if you were interested in them having known each other previous to her coming into the Regime, there's a perfectly open backstory. If your cat does not originally come from the Regime, though, I ask that you somehow note that in your first rp post.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF SCOUT SUPERIOR - conduct 1x a month mass training threads for all of the cadets - maintain at least a baseline activity in RR every week
RP will commence in the next post !

Gossamer Alessandra sat in front of the group with her eyes narrowed slightly. Those that had gathered around her were supposedly the brightest and best. She was yet to be convinced. What she was convinced of, though, was the fact that if the position she sought to fill wasn't filled quickly, it would come at a direct cost to the Regime. It would put the cats she was affectionate towards, including her brother, Kaisra, and her newly adopted litter, at a direct risk. She was not going to allow that, at least not while she could. So, she'd sent out a call for anyone who would show up. She didn't care if the cat she was going to promote was Regime born, whether or not they were loyal to other interests. Those things could all be sorted out in time. All that mattered to her for now was that the cat had hunting skills and a willingness to join her ranks.
Duskslayer was new, one of the cats that Superior Shule had brought back to be a scout, but his blood was not foreign. He was Sean and Superior Shule's son and Kaisra's brother and was from the sunshine clan of SunClan. Which was what made this transition so hard, it was in his blood to do anything for his family, but he had been nurtured in SunClan and missed the warm sunlight and the home he knew. Being a scout was rewarding, he didn't have to stay in the tunnels and preferred staying above land where the sun shined brightly even if this new terrain was covered in snow. Plus it warmed his heart to see that whatever prey he found would never have amounted if he hadn't pitched in and joined the effort. Still he had been a part of the Regime for long enough now, he should go home, but things in the Regime hadn't changed, if he left now he was leaving his family to starve. When Commander Alessandra Gossamer called he came without hesitation and only now was he thinking of the repercussions, but there wasn't a shadow of a doubt in his mind that he needed to do this. He had seen the litter Kaisra was intent on caring for and he would never let them down. His turquoise eyes moved to the commander for her move.
Of course Shule was here. It was maybe only partially because she suspected her son would be here, but largely because the she-cat wanted to assess the cats herself. Though she wasn't an expert hunter, she was more than capable enough to hunt for herself, and with recent, ah, shortages, she'd become increasingly more adept at it, even enlisting the help of the Mercenaries to create traps that would aid what few Scouts there were in catching more prey, quicker. She was quite proud that when she arrived, Duskslayer was already there, and she fought to keep her expression neutral so as to not show any favoritism between him and those who may show up next. Despite her attempts, however, her crystalline eyes did soften a fraction.

"Hello, there, bud!" She meowed to Duskslayer, her head tilted slightly. She couldn't remember his name, but she thought that she was related to Kaisra? Which meant she was related to Shule, which might have been the only reason Shule showed up. "And hello best friend," she teased the she-cat she still fully intended to make her mother in law before too long. Shule still didn't like her, she didn't think, but that was okay. "How are you both today? I'd like to give any others that might show up another moment before we begin; it's not very fun to give the crown to the only participant," she meowed with a wink.

No. Shule did not like Gossamer. She liked it even less that this Commander had somehow convinced her daughter to raise a litter with her, and the fact that Kaisra and the she-cat were just a bit too close for a Sentinel and Commander to rightfully be. "Last I recall, Glowstar was your best friend." The Superior commented, her tone blunt and flat. To be fair, the white pawed she-cat didn't like her sister-in-law either, so it likely wasn't much of a surprise that she didn't appreciate someone similarly chaotic. She'd hoped her daughter would meet someone who would calm her a bit, not someone who made her ten times more crazy. But she wouldn't ever actually say that to either Goss or Kaisra. "I'm well enough. We have more scouts, and the tunnels are back in order, aside from the additions I'm planning."
It was hard to not give a flicker of a smile at the last part of her sentence. Shule had been planning on making the tunnels more stable through the use of wooden 'arches' in a sense, building them into the walls and keeping the moisture out by treating the wood with sap. She was still working on getting to the point she could even cut wood to try this out, but each day brought her closer, and it was the sort of thing she found she could sink time into and lose herself, work she enjoyed rather than merely tolerated.
The blue-eyed, grey tabby tom padded into the area and sat down two feet away from Duskslayer. His gaze was calm and calculating. He and his brother had been found as loners and after a tense stand-off, had been asked to join the Regime as Scouts. They both excelled at hunting and he happily obliged. His brother took more convincing. He had heard about this position within the group and had brushed it off. He was barely a member, after all. He didn't expect to be promoted so soon but he wanted to show his Commander his determination, care, and ambition he had for the Regime. He didn't even know if he would be ready for the responsibilities quite yet. How could he lead if no one knew him? Not to mention his brother's frivolous attitude about everything. Nevertheless, Zodiac wanted to show up. He took a deep breath as he settled into his spot, curling a tail over his white paws.
Duskslayer couldn't help, but smile when she called him bud, "Hello Commander," He replied back and looked charmed at the idea that Gossamer and Shule were best friends. Apparently Shule didn't think so because instead she claimed Gossamer and Glowstar were best friends, why didn't he know that? "I didn't know you knew Glowstar, although I can definitely see how you two would get along," He said after a moment of thought. When he noticed the other tom sit down at first he had his normal pious SunClan exterior on to just ignore any outsider before remembering, wait, this isn't an outsider. Zodiac's a Regime member and technically he was also a Regime member now. He perked up at Zodiac's presence, "Hi, I'm Duskslayer," He introduced.
Duskslayer was definitely the type of feline to be recognized from a mile away. Dusky brown fur swept across his hourglass form with shadowy under tones wisping in and out of his fur. He had white at the back of his back legs and white at the front of his front legs with a sliver of a crescent moon marking beside his right turquoise eye. Zodiac had immediately struck him as odd, mainly for the reason that he didn't know him. Even though he had not been in the Regime for very long the population was small or at least by his standards. SunClan was way larger, it was a difficult task keeping track of names, zodiacs, and scents, but here everything as manageable, it was actually comforting.
There was something delightful in this play he was putting together. A brilliant stroke of genius had led him to coming here, a wonderful inspiration towards his next great game of pretend. Until these regime cats grew sick of him or he of them and his path diverged from here once more. Often it was the former and only once had it been the later. Le Petit Volontaire could not refuse the temptation, truly could not resist the urge. So here he was, the small gray and white tom padding into an open space besides Zodiac and taking a seat, tail curling around his front paws. The smile was bright, crinkling his eyes, the one ocean blue and then the one pale green.
It was almost ludicrous for him to be among these cats, for he had only arrived in the Regime what felt like mere moments ago. Though time flew by when one was having fun, so surely a few days must have passed since his arrival. But truly the most outrageous part was not his new status, no it was that he knew the commander Gossamer. Had encountered her only once before, after being taken prisoner by some of her gang. Though he truly remembered it more as a fun jaunt out to learn more about his neighbors than as a time of imprisonment. Sure they had not be the most gracious hosts but he had left with his life and surely that counted in their favor! Being here, expressing interest in a higher position of a group he only just arrived in, to serve under a cat that once held the decision whether he would leave them alive or dead in her paws, well not many would be outlandish enough to put themselves in such a position. Yet here Le Petit Volontaire was, sitting pretty. Waiting for the fun to begin.

"One can never have too many best friends," she purred to her second-in-command, brushing her tail across the Superior's shoulder. The relationship between the two of them had not gotten better since Gossamer had taken control, and it made her sad, but at this point, there wasn't much she could do. After all, Shule's end goal was probably for Gossamer to disappear, and that wasn't going to happen, at least not yet. She was pleased that Shule even really responded to her in a full way, not that she was upset. "New additions?" she asked with the same wandering tone that she always had, tipping her head slightly. "You'll have to let me know what that means when we next have some time alone." There was a hint of sharpness somewhere deep within her tone, a remember I am your boss and I have the basic expectation of being informed when drastic changes are made, although it was hard to pick up on it was so deeply submerged by her normal innocent nature.
She then looked at Duskslayer again, her head tilted to the side. She was curious as to what he meant, that he could see how they'd get along. It was strange, the fascination that half of the League seemed to have with the DayClan leader, and Gossamer Alessandra had yet to manage understanding why this was the case. Still, she offered him a dazzling smile, making a note of the interaction to ask later. "If I could, all of the leaders would be my best friend," she admitted. "The more allies you have, the fewer enemies," she continued, this time adding a wink.
A look of pleasure crossed her face when she saw Zodiac come. Gossamer had hit it off with his brother, and she was interested in whether or not she would feel similar to Zodiac. She was about to greet him when another cat entered the area where the cats sat. The pleasure turned into complete delight when she saw a feline she recognized. How peculiar; she truly hadn't expected someone from her past, at least someone other than Defiant. How peculiar indeed.
"Well, now that there is a few of you, welcome to the ones who came a little later than Duskslayer," she started with a smile, "we can begin. Today we will he having a little fun in light of the... unfortunate circumstances we've faced recently. The circumstances which, interestingly, has brought all three of you to us." Gossamer Alessandra flicked her tail lazily, before glancing to the Mercenary Superior. "Shule, if anyone else comes a little bit late, it'll be your job to catch them up," she meowed with a nod, turning back to the boys.
"I am interested in two things from each of you. The first is simple, but less fun. The second will be our little game." Oh, how the Commander loved to play games. "But, before we get to that, I'm curious to hear from all of you. What perks your interest in this role?"
Duskslayer had an automatic response, but was quick to remember his mom was in the room. Would she really appreciate it if he said this would build up excellent character development and maybe he could create a whole new persona? Probably not, he would have to look deep inside of himself for this answer.
"I-" really like hunting and stuff. "Love Kaisra, I grew up with her and when she moved out I didn't follow because I knew she had found happiness and she didn't need me. But now her and the family I never knew needs prey. I've dropped everything in my life and I've broken SunClan's code by putting my family before SunClan. I want to become scout superior because I don't trust anyone else to do the job better than me. I put everything at risk because I would never take a chance for someone else to take this role and doom my family and the Regime. My interest is throwing my whole soul into this," Duskslayer said, catching himself off guard by his own confession, but he felt every word of it. Kaisra said that Gossamer made her happy, he'd catch an entire forest for them any day to ensure his sister had the paradise she longed for. "And y'know, this would also be some really good character development. I like to develop different character personas, I'm an actor, not an edgy cat with multiple personality disorder," He added.
He thought back about their earlier conversation, Commander Gossamer had said something about a crown, did they literally get crowns? Was that a Regime thing or an expression?
He looked to the new cat that walked in, "Also hello, I'm Duskslayer, but you can call me Dusky for short," he introduced himself to Le Petit Volontaire.
Le Petit Volontaire smiled at Duskslayer, for his cute little monologue and also because he was taking the time to introduce himself to him. "Le Petit Volontaire." He replied, leaning forward with a dip of his head and a cheery grin. "You can call be Volontaire though, if it so suits you." He whispered, a lilt at the end of his words, unable to resist the temptation. Leaning away he turned to look at the commander and then towards Zodiac.
"I'll go next I suppose, since I arrived here last." The words made no sense but he seemed unbothered by this fact and simply took a small step forward, inhaling a breath before he broke into his answer.
"I was cursed!" He declared with wicked glee, letting his eyes traveling across the cats listening to him. "I am here, pursuing this role within your humble abode, because one day I was tasked with gathering prey for an old croon. She couldn't do it herself you see," Here he paused for dramatic effect, "because she had lost her sight in her old age. So I, who was simply passing through, offered to catch her a meal. She let me know that it had to be a rabbit for her teeth were falling out and she could only eat rabbit according to herself. So off I went, to hunt her this rabbit and return by sunset. But as the day went on I found no rabbits and began to fear I could not fulfill here request. Soon, desperate as I was, I simply killed a young vole hoping its supple flesh would suffice. When I returned I learned I could not be more incorrect. The names she cursed me with, you should have heard her!" The indignant tone spoke of lingering resentment, his fur puffed up.
Before he settled once more and continued on in his tale, "She cursed me with a deep obligation to hunt, a impulse I cannot control that has me hunting all hours of the day and night. The only way to break my curse is a true loves kiss..." He trailed off brows furrowing as he repeated what he had just said to himself before bursting into a cheery laugh. "Sorry, sorry that's not right. That's the cure for my other curse. I have more than a few you see." Shaking his head he continued once more still chuckling slightly as the mishap. "No the cure for this curse is I must serve others with this hunting ability and compulsive need until I have satisfied enough to outweigh how deeply I dissatisfied her."
Stepping back into his place in line he gave a crooked grin and a jaunty bow, "and that is why I am interesting in this role and serving the regime in this way."

There was passion in the first tom's voice, and from his first words, Gossamer found herself drawn to him. He loved Kaisra, she was pretty sure that she loved Kaisra, in a very different way but a way all the same. Had he known this before, that using her would be a way to soften the Commander? She also could appreciate that he was Shule's son, and that his story was of betrayal of SunClan. But, even though that deeply amused her, proved that he cared for the things that he wanted to accomplish, it also meant that he could be a danger. What if Sun Cult wanted to come back for him? She blinked; there was much to consider.
She then turned to the other. Well, he's a nutcase, ran through the leader's mind as Volontaire continued to speak. Perhaps she already knew that, from the time that she had had the tom captured. If at one point she had, though, the memories were long gone, replaced with other things that needed more of her ever so short attention span. He's a nutcase, and I'm sure that doesn't excite Shule too much. That was almost enough to pick him right then and there, the look she expected to see on Shule's face if he was to join the staff.
With a smirk, she continued. "Very well." Her words were interested in what both of the cats had to say, but it also carried a hint of ... something in reference to the tom who had yet to speak. "Zodiac, why don't you explain yourself as we walk? There is so much to do and so little time." Her voice was sing-songy as she rose to her paws. "Since the three of you are outsiders, you haven't taken part in the Tunnel of Trials. It is the tests that occur for a cadet to become a full rank, at least I think. I've set up a simulation one for you all as part of this. Follow me," she mused, before entering a deeper tunnel without any other words.
At first he almost rolled his eyes before realizing, this was a great story! Duskslayer was at the edge of his seat listening to this vigorous tale of woe, tragedy, and curses. This was really thought out, even if it was created on a whim his story telling was absolutely remarkable. He let out a gasp at every twist and turn and when it all came to an end he stood up and if he could he would have started clapping.
“Wow, that was a well crafted, a-mazing story! Are you sure you shouldn’t be a raiser? Tykes would eat that stuff up! Can you tell another one later, because that rocked. And don't get me wrong I still don't trust anyone else with this position, but that story, holy heck, great introduction even if I know I can do this job better,” Duskslayer said with a wink. After all, even if he was a bit competitive to do his family and the Regime right by getting this position, credit where credit was due, it was an impressive performance overall. Plus Volontaire seemed like a cool guy and he could definitely admire his flare for drama and his theatrical tale.
He looked up when Commander Gossamer began to speak and felt that made sense. In SunClan initiates were expected to go through certain trials of sorts so if he was an outsider joining it only made sense he needed to prove himself, especially for a high position.
"I don't know what that is." Volontaire responded as he blinked blankly at Duskslayer, not a hint of anything on his face to let one make an educated guess towards if he was playing or not. He chose to not say anything towards the others little tangent on being better, time would tell if the almost boastful words held any true weight. There was also the small matter of Volontaire not really doubting that Duskslayer would perhaps be better suited to such a position, seemingly familiar with the Regime, or at-least more so than he himself was. Besides, the other seemed truly passionate about this endeavor compared to himself, who was simply looking for his next form of entertainment. He also enjoyed the compliments of-course, preening like a magpie over a shiny new trinket, fur puffed a bit and steps edging towards jaunty. His eyes looked towards the Commander briefly and then the others, wondering if any of them would bestow him with a compliment as well. The more the merrier and Volontaire loved to be merry.
The simulation was perhaps a bit worrisome, but hunting wasn't that difficult a profession so he was hoping it would center on hunting alone. And not something as trivial as, well perhaps leadership skills or something silly along those lines. He had no time to waste while he was here, so many people to meet after all, so many possible avenues of activities to explore. This little trial was cutting into his leisure time.
