Funk's glassy green gaze watched the screen. It was hard for him to tear his attention away from the screen. From the mother character spraining her ankle running from her daughter to the playboy character repeatedly stabbing someone to a pulp. It was the kind of gritty and disgusting action you couldn't tear your eyes away from. Like he was driving by a car crash. At the end of the day, 24 characters went in and only 1 came out. The Nemesis blinked slowly, not expecting the stoic and passive man to win thanks to his deep connection with fire. His other competitors were all lit alight, and he almost seemed to walk through it without a care. A survivor. It reminded him of someone.
It was a long walk to Swiftclan's territory. It didn't help that the new clan moved as they wished. He thought that was his schtick. Still, the Nemesis wore a string of pearls, the new scar on his throat apparent. He carried a bouquet of baby blue eyes and coneflowers, signifying victory and strength respectively. His visit wasn't known, it was a spur of the moment. Not that he hated seeing the winner after all.
His niece had come running to him blabbering about some strange League cat heading toward their new territory with a mouthful of flowers and try as he might, he couldn't convince himself it wasn't for him to deal with. Just once he wanted the mysterious visitor to be here for someone else, his charming new deputy maybe, or one of the strays they'd picked up. Maybe it was the father of the kits they'd found living in the cave or Wildrain's mate... but he knew better than that, just as he knew the moment they'd met at the gathering he wouldn't escape the Nemesis for long.
Chimerastar paused as Funk finally came into sight, narrowing his eye as he considered the scene in front of him. He'd come over here with the intention of chasing the tom off immediately, he didn't have time to waste with all this touchy-feely stuff, and there was no way he was letting Dante into his head again.... but the flowers threw him off. He closed his eye and exhaled slowly, fighting against the memory of a prickly flower tucked behind his ear. It was gone and shriveled now, forgotten, for the best. Dante should be in the past as well, and it was best he put him back there. Chim opened his eye and stalked down after him, ears pulled back.
"I was hoping I saw the last of you moons ago," he mewed irritably.

"I can tell." Funk purred, an awful sound now as he put the flowers down in front of Chim. He must have been a sore spot for the other leader. A little sad to him considering how much Funk liked him. Wanted nothing more than to make that frown flip just once, just for him. But that wasn't why he was here. "But with this new place of yours, that won't be the case." At the least, there were gatherings. At most, he could make the walk. But it was a horribly long way and he was already running himself ragged going to Dayclan and back.
"I'm not here to give you a hard time. Yet. Woulda given this to some little cat I saw, but they ran off before I could call out to them. But here, these are for ya'" Funk smiled a little, but it increased the more he looked at Chim, "Don't give me that look, they're flowers. That's it. I didn't even raise them."
He glanced down at the flowers, as expressionless as possible, and back up at the leader. He refused to offer more than a hint of emotion on his face, remaining stiff and still: it was impossibly difficult, even for him, but he did his best to remain guarded. It helped that he didn't know what to feel. Should he be angry the other tom dared come all this way, upset at the hint of a threat in the air, wary? Was it shame crawling through his pelt at the sight of him, did he fear Dante would tell everyone how they knew each other, would he ever admit to the little shiver of pleasant surprise that the Nemesis had come all this way just for Chim?
"If your little cat comes to join us, I'll be sure to pass them on," he replied steadily. Mask of stone, he couldn't give in to that daring little look, he refused to melt at Funk's smile. He had to clench his jaw slightly as he stared at a neutral point past his shoulder. "It might as well be the last time. I'll see you at gatherings, to be sure... but beyond that, we're done, understood? I.... appreciate you giving me aid that day," if he bit down any harder he thought his skin would split, "but if you think my clan owes you anything, you can go home right now."

Chimerastar worked so hard. That stiff expression made Funk want to pull his cheeks apart into a smile. Maybe a little too far apart so his claws stick through his cheeks just a little. Just a tiny bit, enough to make this mask of a pompous smile and glittering eyes worth it. Even when Chimera tried to look away, he followed, light and quick on his paws like that gaze. The Nemesis didn't think, he just moved. He didn't feel, he just stared. He fell for that stern expression on the tv, and the one in front of him. And that was all there was to it. Just as quickly as flowers bloomed, they died. And he was fine watching the cycle again and again.
"It always is business with you, isn't it Chim?" Funk purred, unable to resist pressing his paw against one of the petals and into the ground. The final step. "Course, I get it. I get it. I like you and all but the walk is killer, even for me." He admitted with a faux huff. "I expect nothing in return for that day, you already paid me back after all." He couldn't help but add in a low tone. Course, he was curious about Swiftclan and the rest, but he'd find out in due time.
StarClan, he hated him. He hated that one moment of weakness had put him in this position. Granted, it had been one of the worst days in his life, top fifteen maybe, so he really ought to have a pass... but even so, it wasn't fair that the Nemesis was back here. It wasn't fair that he could just stroll back into his life whenever he wanted, bring him flowers and taunt him and pretend they were the best of friends, and he hated that it worked. His half-gaze assessed him quickly, dropped again to his paw on the petal, and he fought against the sudden low burn inside.
"Great, I'm glad you 'get' it. Except, unfortunately, I don't think you do," his gaze narrowed as he dragged it up to meet Funk's, "or else you wouldn't be here right now. If the walk is so bad, then stay home next time. Take your business elsewhere."

Chimera hated him. It was a shame, especially since Funk liked him so much. He'd admit, he was glad Chimerastar managed to get back onto his feet, now leading a clan again. The true epitome of always getting up when knocked down. It made him a little glad, even if he was hated. Though it was clear they were just going to run in circles. That was the predicament in this life. Nothing could really change, he made it way too much fun to tease him.
"No, I do." Funk nodded, a claw playing with the string that held his necklace together as he talked. He needed to keep his gaze on Chim, couldn't let a single twitch go unnoticed, "No matter how much you harden your features, hide behind anger and frustration, still your nervous movements and such. I can read you like a book, not that you hide your intentions much. It's a bit refreshing, yet strange. For as easy of a read as you are, I haven't got bored of you. So I keep trying to figure out why, the long walks become worth it. Confusing, right? Figured. For as much as I get you, I don't think you really... get me." He pulled his paw away from his neck and spun around, "But even I can tell when I'm unwanted. So I'll leave you to your devices."
He met him with only silence and his piercing half-gaze, waiting for him to turn and go. The silence was drawn out between them as the Nemesis turned, and he should have left it be, but the words left his mouth before he could stop them.
"No, I don't get you. I don't understand why you're here." He chewed his lip, seeking out the right response. He was never any good with his words, even worse with his feelings. Understanding cats was not his specialty, and understanding himself was sometimes even more difficult. Not with Dante. As much as he confused himself, the Nemesis had him lost at sea.
"If you've got me all figured out, why keep coming back? Why does it matter if I bore you? Why bring... this?" He gestured mutely to the flowers. "You don't need anything from me. I saw you up there with Glowstar at the gathering, you've found yourself quite the alliance." He laughed hollowly. "Does it please you to come all this way just to remind me of back then? Maybe you just like hurting me." He licked at his lips. "I... I know what you did to Doestar. Not what, not the details, but... enough. Did you chase me down just to torture me with his memory?"

"Cause I like you."
Funk turned slightly, setting sun illuminating him in all the best and worse ways. One half shining in rays of gold and red and brown, the other shadowed over like he wore a mask. But his eyes were alight, like a fire being suffocated. And he smiled like the whole ordeal wasn't stressful. Like Chim's feelings were just water on a duck's back. "If you really want the truth of the flowers, I was watching a show on a twoleg tv through a window. It was about a group of people trapped and forced to kill each other until only one lived. The one that lived reminded me of you, hence the gift." His head tilted, the sun shining behind him now casting a shadow over his face.
His face twisted a little bit, just a smidge at the mention of Doestar. "Just cause you like to think I'm here to remind you of all the bad doesn't mean I am." Funk said it so easily, like he wasn't pained at the mention of the once Summerclan leader.
I like you, he said, but with a smile, like it was all a damn joke and only he knew the punchline. He was so sick of smug cats laughing at him. He saw Dante twitch at the former leader's name like he was holding back a laugh, and his claws dug into the ground. Ignoring the strange story about the twolegs, as he couldn't comprehend half of the foreign terms the Nemesis used, he shook his head in disbelief.
"I told you, I saw you with Glowstar. I know you're... involved. So I don't care what you saw, you can't come all this way and say you like me." Maybe he was reading into this too far, but given their history, it was all too easy to interpret Dante liked him as more than a friend. "Are you trying to start a war with DayClan?"

Was it a joke? Was it serious? He stopped laughing. Even he was a little mixed up. Not that Chim was wrong, Funk and Glow were dating. Though was he really considered cheap enough to come all this way just to start a petty war? "Yes, we are and? Is like too light of a word for you? But if I say love, that's not what you want to hear either, right?" Besides, it wasn't right. Pinning his feelings down was impossible, like finding the start of a river. It only knows how to tear through the land until it finds the ocean. Funk couldn't control it, he could only run alongside it.
"You know if I wanted to start a war with Dayclan, I only need to ask, right?" He'd have a hard time admitting how much he liked having Glow around. How she always went with the flow, always craving just a little more violence. How he could tell her why he did this and she'd just get it. If the guy won, he deserved to be rewarded. As simple as that. He kinda missed the Chimerastar on the brink of death. "But I'm not gonna, you know?"
He shook his head incredulously, his lips pressed together into a thin line. He knew he shouldn't be surprised by this tom anymore, but even with his limited social skills, Chim knew better than to brush this off so easily. "You can't just walk around telling cats you like them," he insisted again, "not when they're from a different clan and especially not when there's another cat in your life. Whether you want a war or not, you might get one if you keeping doing stupid stunts like this." He licked his lips as he parsed his words, a little in shock still that of all cats he was one explaining this. Romance wasn't really his thing, he'd tried it before and ended up nowhere, but even he knew cheating brought nothing but trouble. His fur ruffled a little at that particular memory.
"Okay, look, I'm not going to waste time trying to teach you this stuff," he huffed, "just keep away from me and let it be, okay? You can thank me for it later when your mate doesn't cut out your throat for betraying her, coming down here with your feelings."
