Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Bleakpaw sat down near the medicine cat den sighing longingly.
Bruniaberry had stepped down and Coyoteloyalty was... distant.
Bleakpaw looked at the herbs and his paws once again itched to go in there and sort them. Prepare them for their use. Learn every single one of their uses by heart.
But instead he sat rooted outside of the den. His place was not in the medicine cat den. His place was a warrior. Like his parents. Heck his mother had been leader so that set the bar of expectations pretty high for him.
Still, he'd liked how Bruniaberry would let him sit in the medicine cat den with her and go over herbs together and talk about StarClan and stuff. He hoped whoever would be the next apprentice wouldn't mind him being around as much.
Mercurypaw glanced at the den from afar. His liquid eyes were spinning with curiosity.
Ever since he'd been an apprentice he'd felt as though something wasn't right. And yet, when he caught a whiff of that den something seemed to settle within him. What could all of this mean?
A breeze picked up and a dock leaf blew out Bleakpaw gasping and rearing back on his hind paws to try and catch it, only for the leaf to slip past his paws, dancing along on the breeze before settling at Mercurypaw's paws.
Bleakpaw darted over. "Phew, we can't afford to lose any important herbs." He murmured. Then his ears twitched as he looked up at Mercurypaw. He hadn't interacted much with the younger apprentice. But he had noticed Mercurypaw's eyes going to the medicine cat den. Bleakpaw glanced back at the den. "Hey you wanna help me sort it? Since Coyoteloyalty left and with Bruniaberry stepping down, I think those herbs could use some sorting."
He watched the tom closely, his gaze only just turning to the leaf as it danced in the wind. That very wind brought the words, "...important herb.." to him. That little leaf was that important? What use did it have?
He snapped his attention to the cat again, Bleakpaw, when he addressed him. Maybe this was his chance to answer his previous question. "Sure, do you know a lot about the herbs?" He questioned, his head tilting to the side in what was become his signature questioning look.
Bleakpaw's tail twitched and he ducked his head. "Well... I'm no medicine cat." He said before turning his focus back on Mercurypaw. "But I did spend a lot of time shadowing Coyoteloyalty and Bruniaberry, so I'm fairly familiar with herbs and stuff. At least enough to sort them, and a few things about healing. Mostly basic things, ya know cobwebs to stop the bleeding, marigold for infection, yarrow to be sick to get rid of toxins, and then catmint for greencough," He listed off. "But that's about it, not a lot compared to what medicine cats know."
"But since there's no one to take care of it, nothing wrong with us stepping up to get the herbs sorted so they don't get lost or ruined."
