Palestep felt a change in the air when she stepped out of the nursery for a bite to eat, and paused. Raising her face to the warm leafbare sun, she closed her practically useless eyes and simply inhaled the crisp air made fresh by the frost earlier that morning. Something was afoot, her bones knew it, but she couldn't place what it would be. Shaking off the ominous feeling, she lowered her head and continued towards the fresh-kill pile, moving slowly so that her poor vision didn't make her run into any unsuspecting warrior in the way. It wasn't always easy to be without much of her sight, but she made do, like she had her whole life. Reaching down, she selected a small dove, wanting to leave the bigger prey for those expending more energy than herself, and began the slow journey back to the safety of the nursery.

Instead of her bumping into a warrior, it was another warrior that ran straight into the unsuspecting she-cat. "Ah, I'm so sorry Palestep!" Talonstrike fretted, glancing her over to make sure he didn't harm her. The golden tom had been lost in thought and wasn't paying attention to where he was going as he carried his own prey somewhere to eat. "Sometimes I can be so clumsy." He gave a little chuckle at himself then tilted his head. "I didn't hurt ya did I?"

Palestep stumbled back, more out of surprise than out of force, and blinked up at the golden tom in front of her. They were so close that she could make out the features of his face clearly, and noted his small smile which relaxed her slightly. "Normally it's me bumping into others, not this way around," she replied with a soft laugh, nudging his prey towards him and picking hers up as well. "Are you on your way to lunch?" she asked tentatively, not sure if he expected further small talk or if he just wanted to apologize and be on his way.

Talonstrike relaxed as she responded, glad to hear she was alright. "Yeah, actually." He answered cheerfully, although part of the happiness sounded fake like he was sad about something. "Would you like to join me?" Shyness fell over him as he waited, hopeful, for her answer.

"Gladly," purred Palestep, seeing the shy eagerness on his face as clearly as if it were her own. He reminded her of the more innocent seasons of her life spent as a kit, the memory drawing forth a warm glow from her visage. "I don't think we've formally met before," she meowed, hesitantly waiting for him to take the lead. Since she couldn't see more than a tail length or two in front of her clearly, she normally walked very slowly, so she hoped he would walk in front so she could follow.

Talonstrike almost breathed out a huge sigh of relief when she agreed but held it back for the sake of his little scrap of pride. He stepped forward to lead the way then realized he had forgotten where he was going. "Uh..." His eyes swept the camp for a moment before a chuckle escaped his lips. "Ah, that's right. I was headed this way." His tail trailed behind him a bit more than usual so that she could still see where he was going clearly. "I think you're right. I know that you are Palestep, but I actually don't know much else about you! Lets fix that!"
