He'd caught a fish! The strikingly chubby pale ginger cat was practically strutting into SwiftClan's camp with the silver minnow. It had taken him most of the morning, but he'd won his prize. Fuzzypeach was purring loud enough to wake the dead as he flung the minnow down in camp, placing a very large paw on the small fish with a look of intense pride on his round face. He'd caught this fish and it was going to feed a cat in his new clan. Fuzzypeach was contributing. Amazing.
Shatteredshine pranced into camp with a bundle of long grass in her jaws and a mouse hanging by the tail. She set down the grass for a moment beside the fresh-kill pile to throw the mouse on top. "Did you catch that yourself, Fuzzypeach? It looks great, very shiny!" the young warrior mewed admiringly. "I was just out getting some new bedding and found this mouse nibbling on a rock, I bet it thought it was a seed! Guess we both got some nice catches, huh?" The clan had been reduced to foraging for simple items like grass to use in their nests; the flood had deprived the land of most soft materials and leafbare wouldn't allow anything to grow back.

"First fish," Fuzzypeach replied, puffing out his already large chest proudly, "the first of many. I'll be a fine fisher yet, you better believe it." The mouse was, indeed, a fine catch and Fuzzypeach bet his furry socks that some cat would appreciate such a meal. "That mouse'll make someone's day, make my words." The large ginger tom didn't like the grass, he much preferred the fuzzy pelts found in twolegplace. He'd honestly considered hauling one all the way here but it made him tired to think about, so instead his grass nest could be found with feathers and bits of fur in it to soften it. And to add a pop of color.
"Wow, your first one! That's great! We should celebrate by giving it to the hungriest cat in the clan," she told him, eyes positively sparkling to hear he liked her mouse as well. She was a fine hunter but it wasn't often she felt so appreciated. Her uncle especially had always been reticent with his praise, and though she'd traveled with him long enough to know he merely wasn't expressing his thoughts, it would have been nice to hear Chim thank her once or twice. "Thanks Fuzzypeach, I hope you're right! It's not as nice as your fish, but it'll satisfy a hungry belly in a pinch."

He decided not to mention he was most assuredly the most hungry cat, instead nodding gravely, "yes, I'd like very much to provide for this great clan. But who to feed?" He considered his own question for a long moment before suggested, "maybe a queen? I ain't met them all yet, but I bet with all those kittens one is bound to be hungry." The large ginger cat picked up his fish and, after a second of thought, scooped up her mouse. "We have more than one queen, we gotta feed 'em all." He rather liked her mouse and flicked her on the shoulder in a friendly manor as he led the way to where the queens were staying.
"That's a great idea! I bet they'll really like that." She pranced after him as he led the way, happy the larger tom was holding the prey so she didn't have to; though she was fluffy, Shatteredshine was built lean and light, made for bouncing around in excitement. Carrying heavy objects was the part of hunting she disliked the most. "I can't wait to see their faces," she enthused, "they'll be so grateful if they haven't eaten yet! Those kittens look like they take a lot of energy, I wonder if I'll ever be able to look after my own."

Fuzzypeach nodded gravely and spoke through the prey in a muffled way, "ey, they do take a bit o' work, don't they? I can't imagine having kits all my own." The large tom shuddered comically but when he neared where the queens stayed and a kit launched himself at Fuzzypeach's paws his laugh was boisterous even through the food. He passed the fish to Wildrain and Rushingriver and the mouse to Ophelia, immediately getting distracted with the kits. Happykit, the tom who'd gone after him when he entered has taken a hold of his tail and seemed to be trying to run away with it. Fuzzypeach jerked it away from the kit and waved it, laughing when Happykit leaped up to try and catch it.
"Wow, really? Are you sure?" Shatteredshine pushed her way into the den after him, her eyes wide. "Don't you want kits sometime? They're so great, even if they are work! Isn't that right?" She beamed down at Happykit as he jumped around with the warrior. "You're so good with them already!"

Happykit looked up at Shatteredshine. "oh, Fuzzypeach is the best! He tells us stories and always has a snack to share with us!"
Fuzzypeach rolled his eyes playfully, "yeah and you lot do a good job a' mattin' up my pelt and pokin' holes all over me." He spotted a mossball and sent it flying, Happykit squealed and pelted after it. He turned back to his companion and shrugged, "I'm not the type to have a mate and kits, am I? Despite my impressive fishin', I'm not an ideal warrior." He said it without regret or shame, but he wasn't a moron and he noticed that the cats with the chance for mates and kits and glory were all... different than him.
There was a flash of sympathy in her gaze, but it was quickly replaced by determination. "So what? You don't have to be a perfect warrior to fall in love! You know, my dad wasn't even a warrior when he met my mom," she confided, "and the family didn't like him very much either! I think you'll make a great father someday. Maybe I can help you," she suggested, suddenly perking up. "If you're really scared of finding a mate, I'll find a way to make you so irresistible nobody will ever be able to turn you down!"

Fuzzypeach appreciated her offer, it meant a lot to him that a clanmate wanted to help him find such happiness. But the tom didn't hold out much hope and it truly rarely bothered him. Still, he didn't want to seem rude to his friend so he just nodded and flicked her shoulder with his tail affectionately, "thank you, Shatteredshine. I appreciate that, but I don' plan on changin' myself much."
She tried not to feel too disappointed he didn't want her help. "Oh. Well, okay, if you ever change your mind," she answered with a shrug and quickly moved on, "but I'm sure you'll do just fine on your own. Hey! Maybe I can just introduce you to some she-cats instead of changing you," she suggested. "I'll find all of my coolest friends."

Fuzzypeach considered this for a second before adding, in an uncharacteristically nervous voice, "it doesn't just have to be she-cats." He felt himself tense a bit as the words came out, this wasn't something he told just anyone. But he seemed to have made a friend in Shatteredshine and some part of him wanted to be completely honest with her.
"Oh!" Looking mildly embarrassed at her assumption, Shatteredshine ducked her head but offered him a fleeting smile. She should have known better, and now she made him uncomfortable. Way to go, Shatteredshine! "Okay, that's even better! I'll find you the most charming toms, and then we can go on double dates," she mewed excitedly, giving him a little nudge.

He was surprised by her kind response, and touched. Perhaps he'd found a true friend after all. Chimmy would always be his best bud, but he could sometimes be a bit moody. Shatteredshine seemed friendly and upbeat like himself, he didn't feel like a failure in her company. "Thanks, Shatteredshine," he responded, meaningfully, eyes misty.
Happykit returning distracted him and he scooped up the mossball and tossed it again before saying, "we better scram unless you wanna spend the entire afternoon playing mossball, that kid doesn't get tired."
She laughed, glancing happily after the kitten. "I would love to play mossball all day... but you're right, we should go. Uncle Chim would skin me if he thought I was slacking off." She shook out her long fur then started to sneak away from the nursery and back into the main camp.

"Oh," Fuzzypeach meowed, voice deeply reassuring, "don't worry about Chimmy Champ, he's a cuddle bug." His best friend and leader was just a softy underneath all that fake unamusement. "But if you want to do somethin' I can tag along with ya, if you'd like?" He didn't feel much like being alone.
Shatteredshine laughed. "I always say he's soft on the inside, but I never thought he was cuddly! It would be like cuddling with a rock, wrapped with thorns." Once, when she and her littermates returned to the clan, she got cold in the nursery. She tried to cuddle with the other kittens but they weren't warm enough, so she'd wandered the camp and found the leader. Chim had jumped out of his nest like it was full of fire ants and threw her into the warrior's den to be with her aunt.

"Well," Fuzzypeach meowed, voice comforting, "he's gotta reputation to protect, ya know? Can't have it gettin' out that he's a big ol teddy bear, now can it?" Satisfied he'd just completely helped illustrate why Chim was a bit standoffish he continued with a shrug, "sure I'll come along, I gotta earn my keep!" And Shatteredshine didn't yet seem tired of him, which was touching.
"I think everyone knows he's a teddy bear," she confided to him. "He's not very scary, is he?" Raising her voice again, she beamed at him. "Great, let's go! That's right, if you don't bring in enough prey my scary uncle will skin you too."
