Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Cinnamonsavage and Lightningpaw had gone missing after going out for a patrol. The sun was setting now and with all of DayClan searched DayClan had separated into patrols going to their neighbors borders asking if they had seen the two cats or maybe caught sightings of any large predators that could have taken their clanmates. Glowstar led the patrol to SunClan, Cinnamonsavage and Lightningpaw both had ties to SunClan, maybe they had gone to SunClan to see their family and were out late. Or at least that was her best hope.
Glowstar stopped at SunClan's border taking a seat, her radiant auburn fur flickered in the suns dying light. It's rays were most powerful between their borders where there were no trees and only hills. This was the difference between Sun and Day. SunClan cats were welcome to walk anywhere in DayClan because they were an alliance, but DayClan was not permitted on SunClan lands, it was against SunClan's religion, but most DayClan cats didn't buy such an "excuse."
Fuzzyheart stared out into SunClan's territory impatiently, his bengal fur becoming darker and darker as the sun went down. His single cobalt blue eye narrowed on a distant patrol in the distance, catching sight of the SunClan cats fiery fur easily. When he left the league and he had done so to be there for Peachstar when SpringClan was enslaved by SunClan. SunClan never apologized and only let them go because they were outnumbered. He had no doubt in his mind that SunClan stole Cinnamonsavage and Lightningpaw, it wouldn't be the first time and it wouldn't be the last.
Bloodyrondo was leading a routine SunClan border patrol when he picked up the scent of DayClan cats. It was not all the unusual given that their proximity to the border, but he still felt the need to inspect it more closely. When the DayClan patrol came into view he forced his fur the lay flat and approached them calmly. He had grown a lot in the last few moons and was eager to abandon his youthful, hot-headed image that had been established in neighboring Clans since the MoonClan incident. He was ding an okay job of it, too, although his tail-tip was rapidly twitching.
While he was somewhat familiar with Glowstar - she was technically a SunClan cat, after all - he didn't know or care to know any of the other assembled cats. He especially did not like the look that one-eyed tom gave him. It also didn't bode well that they decided to show up when the sun was setting. At least they hadn't official crossed the border... yet.
"Why are you here?" Bloodyrondo asked flatly, abandoning all formality. He didn't want these cats to think him soft like Littlestar, "I acknowledge that you are on your side of the border, but you must admit this is suspicious."
“I understand this looks bad, but our clanmates, Cinnamonsavage and Lightningpaw have gone missing. We’ve searched for them all day and know with certainty they are not on DayClan territory. We’re taking patrols to every neighboring clan to see if they’ve seen them. But I know that Cinnamonsavage and Lightningpaw have family in SunClan, I was hoping that maybe they came by to see them or even came in wishing to join. I assure you and promise you that I only care to know that they are safe and alright, if they did leave DayClan for SunClan I hold no malice,” Glowstar promise, the concern was clear and bare on her face. Lightningpaw was her granddaughter and Cinnamonsavage she had raised as her own son. With the sun setting and no closer to finding answers she only hoped that they had gone to SunClan.
It never failed to amaze Bloodyrondo just how liberally Glowstar ran her Clan. If a SunClan cat had defected to DayClan, he would have had them tracked down and drug back; if they refused, they would be killed. Littlestar would have probably been more lenient given her closeness to Glowstar, though, so he had to keep that in mind when he replied, "We haven't seen any DayClan cats, but we will keep our eyes out for them. You can join our patrol if you'd like, Strik, but the rest of your cats have no business on the SunClan side of the border."
His tone suggested that he'd rather Glowstar not join them and, while his body language was calm, his eyes were smoldering. He just couldn't hold his tongue any longer, "Perhaps if you weren't so loose with your own borders, you wouldn't have this problem."
Summernight, sitting next to his mother, bristled at the tom’s tone. The dark ginger tom stared hard across the border, his claws flexing into the soft ground. He had lived in SunClan for a short time when he had been searching for his mother — he had nearly given up when he had found Glowstar in SunClan. He didn’t recognize this tom across the border. Not to give Glowstar’s warriors a bad name, Summernight kept his mouth shut, but his tense form, drawn back ears, and unsheathed claws said how he felt. He looked at Glowstar, head tilted slightly, waiting for her next words.
"You're an interesting tom cat, Bloodyrondo, the way you hold onto intricate ideologies such as borders and rules. It would be an impossible thing to explain to you why we don't have borders, like a dandelion telling a rose it can bloom anywhere. We're too different to work the same," Glowstar said sincerely. There was no one to compare Glowstar to, she was uncharted territory, dangerous. Despite the accusation that she played a part in why Lightningpaw and Cinnamonsavage went missing she held no animosity. "All the same I'll look around a few fox lengths in before leaving," Glowstar said and turned to hr patrol, "I'll only be a moment, but please, stay on our side of the border until we get back. Bloodyrondo's patrol will already need to remark this area now that we've come so close, we don't need to give them more work to do."
Glowstar walked past Bloodyrondo, tasting the air, nothing off yet. She began to trail further along, but not out of sight.
Nikkohydrangea watched Glowstar move across their border. He leaned into Bloodyrondo out of laziness to stand on his own four paws, "When are they going to leeeeeeave?" This patrol was already long enough, it didn't need to be made longer by these guys, stinking up their end of the border and not even leaving.
"I don't consider borders and rules 'intricate.' I call them common sense," Bloodyrondo was growing a little bit bolder seeings as Glowstar hadn't reacted much at all to his poorly veiled criticism, "Without them we would have nothing but chaos ruled by cats of questionable character and integrity... anyway... go ahead and do your inspection. We will wait here and make sure your patrol follows your directions until you are done."
Bloodyrondo watched as Glowstar crossed the border and felt Nikkohydrangea lean into him. He did not step away or discourage the affection, but he certainly did not return it, "This will all be over soon enough. We have to respect Littlestar's alliance with Glowstar." Bloodyrondo just could not believe that the Sun God would let cats who did not call SunClan home pass initiation. It really bothered him: He would never allow it, "There's nothing to find anyway so I can't imagine she will be here much longer."
Nikkohydrangea fanned himself with his paw, "It's so hot," he said despite it being leafbare, but it was a common complaint of his. Going from WinterClan to really anywhere it was always too hot.
"Bloodyrondo, what is this?"
When he would walk over he would be able to see a small white feather caught at the top of the stick she was gesturing at accusingly.
Bloodyrondo remembered Duskslayer had once mentioned the DayClan tradition of feathers. He didn't really know what they meant but he assumed certain cats could wear certain feathers to display their ranks or something silly. He imagined it was much like SunClan's body paint tradition but lazier, fitting for DayClan. He saw each DayClan Warrior had one on them somewhere. A lot of them looked very similar to the wispy white feather on Glowstar's stick. It didn't mean anything, though. It was cold out but birds were still around, "I believe that is a feather. You can usually find them on birds," He answered with a smart tone, "What are you trying to say?"
Glowstar smiled endearingly, "Oh good, you can see that too, fantastic! So then, what is that?" Glowstar said, her paw gently turning his head to the right lifting it up so he could see over the bushes at the two DayClan cats unconscious on SunClan grounds. Descriptions of Glowstar had always mixed from person to person. They said her eyes were like portals into the dark forest, hellish and deadly. That her fur was like an ocean of fire and her claws were long like scythes. But one detail always remained the same, she wasn't just sadistic, she was a masochist with a pretty face and in this moment Bloodyrondo could understand the fullness of that description. Her eyes reflected something unholy out of lore and fear, burning with a type of madness that fed on chaos like a forest to a wildfire, "Think very carefully before you speak."
Bloodyrondo told his patrol to stay where they were and padded over to where Glowstar had indicated. He was incredibly tense as he caught sight of the two unconscious bodies. They were on the SunClan side of the border, though, so he didn't so much as glance at Glowstar for permission to inspect them more closely. They were still breathing and didn't seem to have any physical wounds, which was technically good, and they were DayClan for sure. An adult and an apprentice: he could only assume these cats were Cinnamonsavage and Lightningpaw. He started to feel a fire ignite in his heart.
Bloodyrondo had been finishing up a border patrol when they met Glowstar's patrol. It was way too much of a coincidence that he had missed them when Glowstar found them so effortlessly. He wouldn't say it directly without more proof, but it seemed to him that she had planted them there for a reason. He would play along... for now, "Looks like a couple of your cats got full on SunClan's prey and decided to take a quick nap before returning home. That's what happens when you don't enforce even the most basic of rules. How are you going to make this right, Strik?"
The ginger tom met her eyes unflinchingly while his hackles raised. Glowstar was a dangerous cat but he wasn't about to let her bully him. Still, his heart was beginning to race, this could end very, very badly, if he didn't stand his ground and play his cards right.
Glowstar walked over to Bloodyrondo listening to him and in mid conversation stabbed her claw right through Cinnamonsavage's paw pad, but there wasn't a single movement, her unholy gaze turned slowly back to Bloodyrondo. She had just stabbed her claw into her own son, she didn't even know Bloodyrondo, Cinnamonsavage to her was priceless and in comparison who knew how little she valued the priest promised in this moment. "Must be a deep sleep huh?"
She didn't move closer and yet it felt like she was looming over him, the dying sun washing shadows over her, transforming her very image into dark bloody scarlets. The night stirred around them and the air grew cold as though her very emotions were a tangible thing. "You find your ego cute, I find it to be a boring defaulted quality you only hold onto to make yourself interesting because it is all you have to stand out. I might wear a queens crown, but I hold a reapers scythe. I am very very bored, Bloody. Think about how you would feel killing every type of person there is and they all scream the same things, for mommy, for help for, for mercy. I wonder if you would scream something more interesting. I invite you to ask yourself, how much do I value your life? I've killed Gods and I've killed best friends. Be careful not to overprice yourself." Every ounce of breathable air felt sucked out of the dark lands. In the moment she looked unearthly, hellfire swirling in her eyes like hurricanes while her body remained unnaturally still and tall.
"Hey guys, I found them!" Glowstar called out to her patrol, and suddenly breath could be found in both of their throats again, but her sudden voice was like a stab in the tension. Everything building up vanished, not deescalated, but simply gone. Her tail lifted high in the air, "They're out cold, I'm going to carry them over the border to you so help me lift them back to DayClan!" It was like a flip of a switch she wore a queens crown again and the scythe was gone.
Bloodyrondo winced as Glowstar punctured her own Warrior with a dagger-like claw. That was a little extreme in his book but he wasn't about to call her out on it. He was glad that he had held his tongue seeing as Glowstar followed her statement up with one hell of a monologue. His fur bristled as she insulted him and he flexed his claws, doing all he could to hold himself back from outright attacking her. Had she just been an average DayClan Warrior he probably would have struck her. But no, he was dealing with this half-DayClan half-SunClan demon of a cat who he truly did believe would go for a killing blow if he gave her a good reason.
Bloodyrondo was no coward. He was a stupid, but not that stupid. If there was going to be a fight he was not going to go back to Littlestar and say he was the one who threw the first blow, "I think you are very mistaken. I stand out because I am the Sun's chosen, which you might be as well if only you got off your high-horse and actually lead your Clan under his laws. Your lack of respect toward your Priest Promised, Strikhedoniadalisay, is appalling. On this side of the border you can't order me around. You can drag DayClan's cats back to their side of the border by yourself."
"Yeah Bloodyrondo, I know you're special," Glowstar said with an exasperated voice as she began pulling Cinnamonsavage over the border and then walked back for Lightningpaw, but he must have hit a sore spot as her ears flattened, "I try to be a good SunClan warrior, it's hard when DayClan follows different rules and religions. I'm sorry for my behavior priest promised Bloodyrondo, it will not happen again," She said dipping her head in a bow to him before picking up the apprentice by the scruff and pulling her over to DayClan's side watching as Fuzzyheart followed her around on DayClan's side of the border and helped pick up Cinnamonsavage.
Glowstar nodded gratefully to Fuzzyheart before turning to Bloodyrondo, as Nikkohydrangea made his way lazily over to his friend who at this moment, was the perfect person to lean on so he didn't have to stand upright.
"I think we can both agree that we cannot stay in an alliance after this. This is too reminiscent of times not many moons ago when SunClan stole DayClan cats to be converted. I'm sorry, I don't want to believe that, but I can't blindly look away from the evidence. DayClan will conduct an investigation, but until then our alliance is postponed until further notice."
"Mmm" Nikkohydrangea said sleepily nodding his head in agreement having no idea what this topic was even about and likely even if he was more awake he still wouldn't have cared.
Bloodyrondo did not say anything to Glowstar as she drug her Warriors back to her side of the border. He felt a little bad making an old cat like her do it all alone, but he was trying to prove a point, and her apology was proof enough that he had done so. Something about her tone seemed a little bit dishonest but it was easier to take her words at face value. His brows were furrowed ever so slightly while he was observing the DayClan leader. He felt Nikkohydrangea lean into him for the second time and that expression softened.
"DayClan will conduct an investigation, but until then our alliance is postponed until further notice."
Bloodyrondo jabbed Nikko's ribcage with his elbow for blindly nodding along to what may turn out to be the worst thing ever. As much as the Priest Promised didn't like the Pride Alliance, he definitely did not want to break it, especially over something so stupid, "You really think that SunClan had something to do with this? If we had come across your cats on our side of the border, we would have done much worse than just knock them out cold." Come on, Bloodyrondo, that was not very diplomatic. He paused briefly before continuing, "There's no reason to break the Alliance over something like this. You should talk to Cinnamonpaw and Lightningsavage before you make a bad decision that I guarantee you will regret."
"Summernight, would you be able to please bring Lightningpaw back, I need to have a word with Bloodyrondo," Glowstar asked politely to Summernight before moving back onto SunClan territory and leaning her head for them to walk a little bit away for privacy. "I'm going to be real honest with you, yes, absolutely. Foxbane is my bestest friend, but she would backstab me and so would anyone else who follows her. She has changed, but it doesn't mean people haven't taken inspiration from her. I don't believe you or anyone higher up is behind this because you're not that sloppy to leave them there in plain sight. But I can't ignore that SunClan warriors have done things like this in the past. And I know, you can go back to SunClan and try to figure out yourself if someone's a rat. But I have to shut down the alliance for now."
Glowstar checked over her shoulder and in all directions to make sure no one was watching before looking back at Bloodyrondo, "We're a good alliance, SunClan has an amazing army, you're very much the muscle. And DayClan works as good support, providing supplies and troops where you need it. So try and see the issue. Let's say I keep our alliance, my cats become outraged that our missing warriors are on your land and for the millionth time I've sided with SunClan over them. They take matters in their own paws and attack your SunClan patrol. What do you need to do as priest promised in response? Attack. If we postpone our alliance now, this is as bad as our alliance gets, this moment right now. This is the best decision we can make to ensure that when we do investigate we can hopefully go back to the way things were, I'm sorry."
Summernight dipped his head in response, picking up Lightningpaw as his mother placed the apprentice at his paws. He lifted him by the scruff with a narrowed look at the SunClan cats. His mother might have liked their all alliance, but he wasn’t so trusting or sure. He didn’t like the way things were in SunClan... and he had lived with them for a period of time. He began to haul away his adopted sibling, back toward their own camp.
"Stay here," Bloodyrondo said as he pulled himself away from Nikkohydrangea. The dead grass under his paws crunched slightly as he approached Glowstar, his ears in the direction of her mouth, and he listened to her without interrupting. He had to admit that there was some logic behind her reasoning. A split Clan is rife for conflict and can become its own greatest enemy with the flip of a coin. He had only ever been concerned with how screwed up it was to allow a cat in another group to be a full member of SunClan: He had never thought about her other group felt on the issue. Well, if they had any sense, they should rejoice in their good fortunes. Glowstar, their leader, was favored by the Sun God. He began to grow more and more frustrated. How many moons had it been since she was given the new name? And she still let her cats tell her what to do?
"In SunClan, regardless of the decision of our High Priestess, we follow her commands because she is chosen by the Sun God. If DayClan had faith in his wisdom then they would trust your decisions, too, especially in relation to SunClan. Aside from being sleepy, your cats seem perfectly fine. You should be praising the Sun God for their good fortunes. Instead, here you are, breaking an important alliance because you tolerate dissent within the walls of your own home. You can't just bend to the whims of your Clan. It's pathetic and reflects poorly on your leadership. A proper High Priestess stands by her decisions with an iron fist - those who disagree can change their mind of die. A divided Clan is weak and if you keep bending like this, it won't take long for you to break."
Glowstar watched Bloodyrondo with interest, he always seemed to speak about purpose and power like it was water, something you could try to live without, but you would fail if you tried. Everyone had to obey those more powerful and everyone had to live up to their purpose. He wasn't wrong, the Sun God had expected her to convert DayClan not that long ago and she hadn't. Probably because he felt enough time had passed since the whole DayClan being enslaved by SunClan thing. Her emerald gaze moved away from meeting Bloodyrondo's at the mention of a "proper high priestess."
"It's flattering of you to urge me to play my part. The Sun God has asked me to do the same a while ago, but it's not the right time. Foxstar threw DayClan's faith in the Sun God away when she betrayed DayClan. Besides, I have no interest in becoming high priestess of DayClan, could you imagine? Having complete control over every person, the praise, even controlling who gets healed and how, being favored by a God. Littlestar has earned and wants everything she has. I've earned my place, but... I don't want what you're selling, I want people to defy me when they hate me. I like the fight, I live for the challenge. I don't want the cushy command of a priestess. I don't really expect you to understand any of that though."
"You're right, I don't understand." Bloodyrondo replied, his voice acidic, his eyes moldering. This she-cat was absolutely mad. Glowstar knew the Sun God, was favored by him, even, and had the power to bring even more cats to his side. Yet, she did not because... what, it wasn't easy enough? She liked insubordination within her ranks? Bloodyrondo would probably lose his mind, too, if he had to listen to his Warriors back-talk. He sighed very dramatic and made his way back to his patrol, "Good luck with your cats. I hope that make full recoveries so they can share the truth."
