(i realize i don't have threads highlighting funk's... other personality traits of funk's ;; and this is violent so content warning now)
The cries of the damned reverberated against the bars around him. The League was no stranger to keeping prisoners and doing with them what they wished. Some were lashing victims of the Punishment district, some were killed for food if they saw fit, others were sold off in the black market, their lives now unsure and a select few were given out to other clans for whatever macabre practices they needed them for. They liked to play god, it gave them a sense of control they couldn't get anywhere else. The smell in here was awful, the blood and gore soaked floor was now dry. Some moaned, others purred to try and comfort themselves, and of course there were those that couldn't do anything other than lay there. It was sad, though Funk felt no prick in his heart. He was used to it, there was nothing like the sorrow of others that made him feel more alive. Today, the Nemesis was decorated, flowers woven into his short fur and his now trademark red bandana wrapped around his neck. Hanging from his mouth was a shell filled with a mysterious liquid.
"Don't you feel guilty about any of this?" Came an unfamiliar voice.
"Ryou, honestly, this is why I worry about you, hanging out with all of those good influences," Innocentia said as her white coat easily moved into view. She shivered, "Maybe I should lock you in here, harden your soul a little, I know I spoiled you too much."
Coming into view was Duskslayer from SunClan, or in other words, Darkcomplex and Glowstar's son, although if anyone could guess no one would guess he was from SunClan. He had darker fur colors, a dark grey stomach and ruffles along his cheek fur, there was a white crescent moon shape cuffed half way around his turquoise eyes and his very deep dark shade of brown fur wasn't much brighter. However the thick white marks along the front of his front legs and back of his back legs added a bold color that popped out from the rest of himself. Despite this being Duskslayer, his voice seemed altered a bit, slightly more sly and gruff.
Innocentia let out an excited gasp, "Hey, it's Funk E'tan!" She exclaimed in the way a mom tried to hype her voice up to make something boring more exciting for her kid. She gave Duskslayer a playful nudge that normally a cat would do to another cats shoulder, but in her case was at the lower part of Dusky's leg.
"Funk, this is Ryou, my son, I'm showing him the Punishment District for the first time," She said gleefully, though even as she said it, she sounded like a kit playing house rather than an actual grown cat declaring this tom to be her son. She placed a paw to the side of her muzzle as though Duskslayer couldn't hear her now, "He's kind of in that phase where he doesn't know what he wants to be."
"MOTHER. STOP," Duskslayer said with annoyance, his tail twitching. He rubbed his paw over the bridge of his nose, "I've met Funk E'tan, we hung out in the city. He doesn't need to be further confused by this insane family."

Funk could hear the riddled conversation, though more intoxicated by the looks of fear he received as he walked past cells. Catching the ever high pitched voice of Innocentia, he set the tea cup down as the pair approached him.
"Hello Innocentia, always a pleasure." She wasn't playing, but if she was, then Funk always played along. Briefly dipping his head, he put his paw along his muzzle, imitating Innocentia with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Ah I see. But isn't that phase always the most fun? Least to me it is. Maybe we can set him straight." Funk grinned, no doubt not helping as he turned his attention to Duskslayer. "Hi, again Dusk-Ryou! That day felt like forever ago. I take it you are well." Even if he knew the Sunclan name, he felt it better to go along with his proxy's name.
...wait wasn't Duskslayer Glow's son. Why was Innocentia called mom? Dusk was right, he was only more confused by this family.
"I was mixing up a couple things in my lab. You know, things you find in broken bottles, weird colored stuff and the like. It came out like this." The liquid in the cup lay shockingly still, slightly more gelatinous than liquid. Rolling the cup made a thin and clear layer of a liquid move but that was it. The strangest part was the color, a dark and gritty green that held a sick shine and probably reminded the city cats of antifreeze. Though Funk swore he didn't put any in. He'd know. "As much as I wanted to try it, I was thinking it'd be more fun if a prisoner drank it. Or at least smear it on someone's fur. My paws still haven't stopped tingling from it."
He looked uncertain about Funk, but offered a friendly smile back to the nemesis, "It's a little tough, I hope you're doing well though."
Duskslayer sniffed at the concoction that Funk had made before deciding he wasn't interested, it looked like something the soothsayer would make to do something magical. His turquoise gaze looked up and down the tunnels, he felt out of place.
"Wow that's..." Innocentia had no idea what that was, "Interesting," She said deciding to go with the safest word on this one since Funk seemed proud of himself. She brightened up at the idea of feeding it to someone to see what would happen, "Sounds like fun! Um. Although maybe you should go to the Shaman about your paws tingling if that continues?" She added with a hint of concern, "Ryou, why don't you go look around and pick out a prisoner, I want you to pick one who's lively, but not too scared, I love watching someone go from brave to as cowardly as a kitten," She giggled.
Duskslayer visibly grimaced at the idea, but walked down the tunnels as though they were shopping aisles he was browsing through for the first time.
Innocentia watched him descend down the hall of prisoners until he vanished into the dark, "He'll learn," she said and turned to Funk, "Sooo, story behind this, Green promised me her first born son and I didn't know that she couldn't have kits after her first litter so I was jipped! But then Dusky came along so naturally I stole him, named him Ryou and eventually came to a settlement that I got him on weekends." She smirked, a triumphant smile pinned across her lips, "But you know what? The drama didn't end there. Turns out lil Ryou over there was only raised by Glowstar, he's Sean and Shule's son by blood. he should be a natural born assassin! But he doesn't have that killer instinct... So that's why I'm trying to bring him here more, maybe I can awaken that part of him. Will you help meeee? Pretty pretty please?" She asked grinning up at Funk E'tan.

"I'll be fine. I was the Shaman once, after all." Funk didn't expect any praise for making a dark green jello thing, but he expected them to at least remember he was Shaman. Even if it was short lived compared to his Nemesis-ship. "We're doing well. Though now I'm just waiting for the next issue to pop up." He answered Duskslayer, a small smile as he considered all the things that were about to go horribly wrong.
As Duskslayer left, his attention turned back to Innocentia. Though as she talked, he became more confused by the Eeries. An outstretched claw doodled a tree that made some sense to him. Still, this was one of Sean and Shule's little hellions. Briefly, he went back to his first death and touched the bandana. Shaking his head, he came back and quickly shifted to nodding as she went on. "I see. And of course I'll help you." Not like he needed to be asked twice. Maybe this was his chance at some vague payback he circled around nowadays, or at least see how things were going in the forest.
"You still shouldn't-" Innocentia shook her head as though already giving up on the subject. Anyone who knew medicine acted as though they should be their own doctor when really they should get checked out by other professionals, second opinions and all.
At Funk's confirmation she leapt up in excitement and gave him a little nuzzle, "Thank-you!" She said with a big toothy smile. Her eyes burned brightly as she stared ahead, eagerly awaiting Ryou's return, "But hey, let's maybe keep this between just us? Sen-pai really loves her uncle and I don't know if she'd be on board if she knew I was making Ryou into a killer and it would upset Sean. I mean she would probably be okay with it, but she's close to no one so I'm always careful about the people she likes even just a little."
Duskslayer came back over, "I found this one guy who has some weird jagged teeth, but he seems alive and also rambling on about stuff so... Brave?"
"Wow, you chose your first kill!" Innocentia exclaimed, squishing into Duskslayer.
"We don't even know if that drinks going to kill him, but I'm glad that you're happy," He said truthfully, offering a shy smile, because really he didn't want to have to make his mom happy by participating in this kind of stuff, but it seemed like he'd have to, "Although, Funk E'tan made that so I wouldn't want to rob him of that fun, so maybe I'll kill someone next time mother."

"I hear ya. I'll go see Nyira then when we're done." Funk expected the same sort of thing. What did you dos and why did you feed that to someone and an order to go wash his paws far too much before being sent on his way.
At least she was happy when he agreed to help, though the Nemesis didn't show a sign of returning the nuzzle. The walls were watching, after all, so Funk merely nodded and offered a grin. "Of course, it's the least I could do. And don't worry." He outstretched a pair of his claws and dragged the sides across his lips, like he was pulling a zipper, "My lips are sealed." and the last person Funk needed on him was Sen.
When Dusk came back, he dropped his paw and listened patiently to the description. Though it didn't narrow it down for him. Most cats could be described that way here. Course it came back to him, he expected Duskslayer to try and get out of this. "True, I'm not really sure if it will kill. But you picked the guy out. I'd hate to steal your golden boy from right underneath you just cause I made this thing."
"No, it's alright, I want my first kill to mean something and this one just kind of feels dull," He shrugged in typical teenage fashion.
Innocentia nodded along, how could she not? She lived more for the thrill of the hunt, the strategy, the chase. She tormented in the prisons, sure, but it never gave her the same thrill as when she hunted a cat out in the open. At the same time though, Duskslayer was just playing to what he knew his mother would understand to buy him more time, which truly, who knew how long he'd been buying more time? This may have been his fortieth time getting out of this.
He could see the look of disappointment on Innocentia's face and played up his charm by pressing his chin against her head, playfully, "Hey, how about I warm up those leftovers the way you like it?"
"Yeah sure!" Innocentia agreed, her voice perky, but expression wise she was let down, not that Duskslayer would know from where he was positioned. Duskslayer moved away from her as Innocentia whispered to Funk with a sigh, "This always seems to happen, I just can't find him the right kill. I'm letting him down by not pushing this forward," She whispered, but raised her voice when he got further, "It's been two years and he's still hesitating to kill. Do you think I should be more firm? Because I'm not one to talk, it took me way longer than two years to really grow up and become who I am."

Funk listened to the mother and son speak. He could have interjected, but also didn't quite feel it was his place to. Even with his own kids, he was more of a guiding paw. Largely letting their parents or the caregiver do what they want with them. Even dealing with his adult sons largely resulted in him bopping them on the head. He really knew no way. Well, none that was ethical.
"Hmm... it's possible he might just need another push." Though if Duskslayer was still hesitating, he figured something else was at work. But he said he'd help Innocentia and he meant it."Maybe, but we're not looking for him to become the next you yet, right? Just to get his feet wet. See what happens. And all that. What kind of other excuses has he given you?"
Innocentia tilted her head back, "Let's see, he's had to meet with other cats, he just got his claws manicured, he doesn't feel good, he's to sleep deprived to focus, when he was little he would always say he was too homesick to practice, and recently he's been going on about that he needs to find the perfect victim and that no ones good enough. But he never goes into detail on who this perfect victim would be. Do you think I should ground him with a potential victim and not let him out until he kills them?"
She felt that most league cats knew how to raise little killers, but she was raised in a Shaman family brought up with RubyClan values, there was nothing to go off of!

Okay, so he definitely didn't want to kill anyone. That much was clear. But Innocentia had put her heart and soul into trying to raise him as a killer. And, even as Nemesis, he was in no position to tell her give up on it. But what about his concoction? He needed to learn about it too. Rip to the one bird, he had to focus on the other. "Let's see. You could, but we need to find someone that he wants to kill. Whether in a blind rage or otherwise. He doesn't seem like the type to have enemies, or I'd suggest finding one of them." Hmm, this was tricky. It's not like Funk could spawn someone that Duskslayer wanted to kill. They needed to find someone he wanted to, or pin him in a corner till he does. The latter was easier but the former was worth the time put in. "Is there anyone in here giving you trouble? Maybe he'll feel compelled to take care of you if he listens to your woes about someone."
“People used to give me trouble, but now everyones wised up and is aware of my cannibalistic behavior. Although now that you mentioned it he does have an enemy, Kotori. But I gotta say I relate to Kotori’s grief. He’s jealous and mad that his parents replaced him and I definitely wanted to kill my half sister when she took my moms attention so I can’t really fault him. That and he’s under Senescence’s protection,” Innocent explained. Her tiny claw tapped underneath her chin, “Maybe I should poison him and tell him he’s got an hour to find a kill and bring it back. Oh wait! Idea,” She squealed suddenly.
“There’s a spy in Renegade Regime named Xuxa who I beat the heck out of when she was a cadet. She hates Shule’s kits and beat up Ryou when he was an apprentice. If we can get him to kill Xuxa not only would that be his first kill, but Shule will be forced to reject her own son and he’d be all mine. Also I just really hate Xuxa.”

That was fair. Even for how young she looked, Funk knew her presence surely proceeded her. He couldn't think about the age difference between them too hard. When she brought up Kotori, his lip twitched. Course, he was still mad at the other tom for lying to him. But some part of Funk couldn't wish Kotori death. He must have done it for the Shadow Era, least that's what he put together from talking to Glowstar. And now he knew a little more, though the Eerie family was full of sob stories he stopped trying to piece together. He nodded, though. A little relieved. "I'm sure Sen would let you but..." Funk started, suddenly cut off by Innocentia.
Why did the name Xuxa sound somewhat familiar to him? He wasn't sure. "Still, she's a Regime spy. I'm sure they're suspicious of me, and probably you too. We'd have to lure her out, probably..."
“That shouldn’t be too much of a problem, she’s been hit in the head so many times she’s gotten a bit dumb over the years. I’m sure it won’t be hard to lure her out. I can handle Xuxa, I’ll bring her into that cell over there and then you just bring Ryou down here and maybe give him some tips on a killing blow. It’s his first kill after all, it doesn’t need to be slow,” Innocentia explained, “Deal?”
Post by strawberrycupid on Feb 21, 2020 22:25:16 GMT -5
Was she really that bad? He almost felt bad if he knew anything about her, other than the lingering feeling that he did. Still, a deal was a deal. And he was at least decent enough of a fighter to give Dusky a few ideas on how to handle her. "Deal." Funk nodded, "The Regime is a long walk though."
"Don't worry, I'll get Lucistic, he let's me ride on his shoulders, but still refuses to take my prey back home! Can I stab him for that?" She purred with interest before shaking her head, "We can get into that later. Either way, I'll meet back in the prisons with Xuxa, but take your time, I want Ryou to come down here when he's ready." With that Innocentia turned to walk deeper into the punishment district to find Lucistic.
Duskslayer was at the surface chewing on a squirrel he caught, but his moms freshkill was still next to him, awaiting for her to return to eat it.

"He's your hunter, you can do what you want to him." Funk shrugged. Well, whatever she did, he figured Luc would like it, "Long as you can sweet talk Sen into letting you stab her brother." Those two seemed to be getting closer, least from the few times he saw the pair together. Not that he expected her to choose her brother over Innocentia.
As the white puffball walked off, he let out a sigh. This was a bit over his head, even if he was about to join this bat crazy family soon. Maybe he could get Duskslayer to change his mind, just once. Just so he wouldn't get caught up in this inane plan again. There must have been a wave of relief washing over the prison as the Nemesis picked up his tea cup and slowly made his way out of the prison. Setting it to the side near the entrance, he approached the Sunclan warrior. "She's not gonna give up on you. I sure you know that by now." He sat next to him, licking his somewhat less tingling paw and swiping it over his ear.
"Do you think I should kill for her? Because on one paw if I kill she would be proud and on the other paw if I kill I don't think my Regime family will talk to me ever again," Duskslayer said as he continued to chew at the squirrel before swallowing, "Hey, I never asked, how do you know my dad, Sean anyways? Back when we were in the city together you two were talking like you knew each other."
He had clearly not caught wind that his biological mother, Shule had attacked Funk E'tan for attacking his father, Sean. It was no surprise since he lived neither in DayClan or Renegade Regime, and he had only just now swung by the league this weekend with Innocentia.
Post by strawberrycupid on Mar 11, 2020 15:59:27 GMT -5
Funk listened, pushing one of the small flowers back into place on his tail. He put his paw against his chest, "Now I'm biased in that Innocentia works for me, and I like her." He paused, before realizing what he said, "as a friend. And Shule killed me like a week ago, but I think you should do it. Easy, one shot, one kill. The League and the Regime are so separated now, you could kill someone here and it wouldn't reach them. Long as it was some no name rogue." Of course, it was now he realized Innocentia's plan of him killing a Regime spy would, in fact, not work. He didn't even think that Duskslayer didn't know about it, it felt like everyone knew.
Oh... Sean. "That's a long story." In reality, he didn't know the other very well, but it also felt like he knew him forever, "We'd meet every now and again while I was hanging out with Glow. Then I got tired of it, and confronted him when we were about to get flooded out. Roughed him up a little and paid the price, but we get along okay."
"Right," Duskslayer said slowly as he moved over a distance from Funk warily. After all, it sounded like his biological parents bothered Funk and he was their son so he didn't really want to take any chances. Although here he was Ryou so he supposed it didn't matter the same. That and Innocentia would probably eat Funk alive, she had only told him endlessly how long she waited to have him. He could also recognize from Innocentia's size that she could never have a litter of kits of her own, she was far too tiny, it would be a literal death sentence. It was one of the reasons why he was alright with the arrangement even if he was treated more as an expensive item.
"I'm an Eerie though, if anyone in my family creates drama it's like blood in the water, everyone knows, even from miles away. That and Kotori wants to murder me so I'm pretty sure if he knew I killed someone he'd tell everyone. It's too much of a risk," Duskslayer said with a shrug, but still looking a bit uncertainly at Funk he added, "Or are you telling me not asking me?"
