Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Daisypaw blinked as she wandered up to the she-cat. It was suggested to her that the two would get along at least a little bit, and Daisypaw really was awfully lonely since coming. In fourty-five-and-a-third hours since she'd wandered here, she had had lots of alone time, which didn't help the fact that she was still sort of sad she had gotten so lost from her homeland that she had settled here. Maybe a new friend would be a good thing! "Miss?" she asked in a soft voice. She was small and awkward and not at all suited for clan life, but rumor had it that Mangoswirl had a similar level of competency that she did, so either rumors were wrong and Mangoswirl was brilliant, or she would find herself a new friend. And plus, she had a perfect rationale as to why she needed to interact with her. "The Great Mr. Chimerastar Sir told me that I should come meet you while he works on finding me a mentor, because he thinks you are the smartest most bestest cat to show me the ropes!"
Mangoswirl blinked at the other she-cat. "The Great Chimerastar Sir, eh...?" she said, in a tone that suggested the feline equivalent of curiously stroking one's beard. "Well, if those words came from him, then I'm inclined to believe the guy!" she chirped, giving the she-cat a big, toothy grin that she hoped was not at all terrifying. Mangoswirl had seen her around the vaguely-sheltered area that Chimerastar liked to call a camp for a couple of days, though she'd be lying if she said she knew her name - or the names of a lot of the newcomers, really. "What's your name, hon?"
He didnt' really say any of that, but Daisypaw wasn't going to be the one to burst her bubble. Instead, she smiled widely at her, trying to ignore the amount of teeth that Mangoswirl had just shown her. "Yeah, you should! I'm sure he was absolutely right!" She meowed brightly, not feeling even the littlest bit bad that she was technically lying right to this girls face. Desperate times called for desperate measures, and these were desperate times. "I'm Daisy!" She then meowed equally as brightly, before tipping her head to the side a little. "Er... Daisypaw, that's what I meant. I'm Daisypaw!"
Daisypaw wasn't old enough to have a clan suffix yet. She was like five and a half moons old, but when she was asked exactly how old she was, she basically lied her way into not getting into the nursery. It seemed that she was pretty good at lying, something that hadn't been true two days ago. Lying and crying, her two favorite passtimes. "Well," she meowed, looking down at the ground, a tear welling in her eye. "I was originally from the city, but I got out of my apartment and I got chased by a dog and then I just got so lost..." Her lip quivered, before she straightened up. Be strong, Daisypaw. "I found here though," she mewed with a sniffle, "so it all worked out!"
Alarm bells rang out in Mangoswirl's head as she saw tears well up in Daisypaw's eyes. "Oh, I - I'm so sorry!" she said, stroking the apprentice's head with her tail. "SwiftClan's pretty new, but it's safe to say there's no dogs around here," she said, making a mental note to check with Chimerastar later if that was actually true, "and even if there were, there's plenty of warriors here like me who've had experience fighting dogs, so you're completely safe from them here!" Granted, the last time Mangoswirl had fought a dog had been about six moons ago and she was surely out of practice, but that just meant that she and Daisypaw would get to learn - or in Mangoswirl's own case, re-learn - together, which was a cute thought. "So, did you hear any stories about the Clans when you were back in the city? Or is all this totally new to you?"
She wiped the tear from her eye with a paw before looking at Mangoswirl. "Really? You mean that?" she meowed, sounding a little bit pathetic, but let's be real with each other, most things about Daisypaw were at least a little bit pathetic. That's what happened when you were an actual baby thrown out into the big scary world with no prep and no real desire to leave a two-legs nest, though, right? She offered a little smile, although her bottom lip was still a little quivery, before blinking. "This is... really new to me," she meowed, dragging her paw across the ground. "The closest thing I ever knew was ... that Absum Lux deal thing but only from like urban legend... There was a big old cat who used to sit outside my window and tell me stories about city dwellers... but that's all I know..."
Mangoswirl stiffened at the mention of the ex-coalition. "Absum Lux, eh?" she said, before adding a quiet good riddance under her breath. "Well, the Clans are much cooler than those...weird strays and their flower-loving Clan-deserting leader," she sniffed, "and also a lot more honourable. I guess you've already seen a little bit about how SwiftClan works, but did you know there's, like, a thousand other Clans out there, sharing the forest with us?" Well, more like ten, but a thousand sounded a lot more impressive.
She looked at Daisypaw, suddenly realising how much she was looking down at the other she-cat - a rare occurance for her, given that Mangoswirl was still a pretty young warrior, and not exactly the biggest either. In fact, Daisypaw looked...really small, so small that Mangoswirl might have pegged her as a kit if she didn't know any better. ....Huh. Well, Chim wouldn't have made a mistake, surely.
