For once in his life, the stars seemed to shine brighter. Maybe they were happy for him. Or the aliens were clapping and waving their alien phones like it was the end of a romance movie. Still, even in the dark, things felt more vivid. Like a weight had been lifted off of him. The night had been full of twists and turns for the Nemesis, but it ended in a way he never expected. With him, being honest about his feelings to Glowstar. And her accepting them. It was nuts. He still couldn't quite believe it. Funk now was just waiting for him to wake up. Though each time he pinched himself, nothing happened. Crazy.
Somehow, he was left to walk back to the League by himself. She had her own things to attend to, what with the Regime going to stay at Dayclan for a bit. Funk was left to wander the abandoned Survival Clan territories. Somehow, he needed to make his way back. While walking like an idiot in love. As he was. Suddenly, something caught his attention, a rustling behind him that made him spin on his heel.
Haha, yeah, okay, betting his clan away over a fight had been a funny joke but that was all it was ever supposed to be. How was he supposed to know he'd actually get overthrown? His group had always been too passive, that was the only reason he'd been allowed to lead in the first place, but he had figured someone would stand by him... or at the very least protest when he was thrown into prison. Instead, he had been locked in and deprived of the sun and left victim to the whims of his former constituents, who as per usual had no interest in torturing him or allowing him to do anything but slowly suffocate to death from utter boredom. Finally, finally the floods had given the fallen king an opportunity to return home.
.... if he had a home.
Through some tricks, bribes and a very long tree branch, Raijin managed to escape his Regime captors and fled the scene. He didn't focus on where he was headed until he happened across a familiar scent, and maybe (definitely) it was a bad idea, but he followed. He stumbled through the bushes and pushed along until he finally emerged to see a familiar face. This was a delicate situation, he no longer was a masterclass in handsomeness as his fur was tousled and torn and full of bits and pieces of dirt and dried leaves, but his smile was as dazzling as ever. "Funk! How long it's been since I saw you last," Raijin greeted.

When Funk saw the familiar set of grey ears pop up, he thought he saw a ghost. Sure, Gossamer Alessandra told him that Raijin had bet the Regime and lost. But Funk figured they would have killed him, or held him captive for lives. Who knew? The bengal Nemesis practically bounded up to the scruffy ex-commander. Even when he was a mess, with sticks and leaves that Funk couldn't help but brush them out, Raijin still held himself as high as ever. It was a trait that was incredibly attractive to Funk.
"Raijin! It's been far too long, my dear ex-commander." Some part of Funk remembered how much of a headache Raijin was to him, how they were almost too similar. But Funk was in too good of a mood to notice. He pressed against Raijin's side, his own pelt not much better thanks to the day's events, "I was worried no one would stop me from knocking trees down on the Regime territory once you disappeared. Come along now." He didn't want to admit the few times he went to the regime looking for Raijin and leaving without any luck.
