Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
unfortunately, all of the kittens have been taken. however, you are more than welcome to respond anyways! your cats may react in a myriad ways, from suspicion of where she got the kittens, to disappointment, to excitement. these kittens are adopted by gossamer, and kaisra, the sentinel, will help co-parent them.
if you want your cat to follow kaisra and daley to the den to help carry the kittens back, that is also good
if you are PARTICULARLY interested in a kitten that is mothered by this duo please let me know, and i can either make 1 more kitten for the litter OR put you on a waitlist for the next litter <3
if you have been tagged in this thread, do not feel like you have to reply. i tagged people that i thought would be helpful (ie, meepo & roon because the kittens will need to be checked out, mysterium because he's their new uncle), but there is no obligation to reply to this thread, particularly because the roles of like medicine cat / raiser can be grabbed by other users.
reminder: if you adopted a kitten, please remember to get a bio written within 1 week. if a bio is not written, your cat may be subject to re-homing. these kittens are part of a long character arc for Gossamer, and i want it to be effective <3 also, if you want to make small adjustments to the kittens, that is totally a-ok, i just ask that you don't stray too far away from browns and oranges.
Zephyrea x female x ian x orange and white with bright green eyes, some tabby markings but not as many as her siblings Cylasis x male x phantom x mostly dark brown tabby with some lighter brown, white chest and paws, stormy blue eyes Oriene x female x skelly x mostly brown tabby with some orangey flecks, lighter chin, chest, tail tip, stormy blue eyes Sylevis x male x komiharu x chunky orange kitten with a russet stripe pattern that almost marbles, deep green eyes Arei x sex here x honeystorm x mostly white cat with brown patch around ears, eyes and forehead, some brown spots on chin. Amber eyes.
Gossamer looked at the kittens with a sort of proud look on her face. The body of their mother had been neatly disposed of. It hadn't been hard to find a queen that was close to birth who needed a place to stay. Her name had been Zephyrea, and she'd been young and naive. Far too quick to trust Gossamer, but the Commander supposed that she couldn't blame her for her inadequacy at detecting danger. She had kept Zephyrea in a part of the above ground territory that no one checked, and she had kept her fed and well-cared for in her final weeks. After all, it was all Gossamer could do, knowing both that she fully anticipated to cause this feline's death and that she wanted the kittens to be as healthy upon birth as possible.
One of the kittens, the orange and white tabby that looked most like the now-deceased queen, mewled in distress, and Gossamer found her tail wrapping closer to her and her littermates. Of course, she knew that they were hungry, but there was nothing that she herself could do about that. She wasn't producing milk. She needed to find a queen that would be able to rear them, but she hadn't figured that part out. After all, it would have been suspicious to ask a nursing mother if she could nurse another litter before the litter showed up. Gossamer leaned down and licked the orange kitten, before letting out a hum.
"It's alright, loves," she mewed soothingly. "Soon, Kaisra will be here, and we can get you to the tunnels. You'll like it there, I promise," she assured them in her most maternal voice. She had sent Daley, who had been her cohort in the mess that was keeping a queen cared for, to fetch the sentinel almost immediately as the duo let the body of the mother drift down the river. After all, five kittens was too much for two cats to bring back, and, well.... She blinked, no, she didn't have to consider the greater scheme, not yet. "We will get you settled with the best queen in the village until you are big and strong."
She let out another hum, before hearing footsteps. Soon, Daley emerged in the den, followed by the Sentinel that he had been sent for. Gossamer Alessandra looked up, offering a half-smile.
"So, you'll never guess what happened," she meowed, glancing back to the kittens.

( Oh, hey, I'm here. xD )
The Sentinel had been surprised to be called in the first place. Daley had seemed quite insistent that Gossamer needed her, and right away, such that the she-cat was almost concerned about the Commander's safety. Where were the other Sentinels who'd been to assigned to her for the day?
So, it was quite the surprised when she arrived, and saw kittens that were clearly crying out for milk, and her head swung around, instantly looking for the mother. They were too young. There was no way that the mother could just up and disappear, right? Unless she really wanted her kittens to freeze to death in the middle of winter, and the idea burned against her heart angrily, though she told herself that no one would really do that, would they. "Where's their parents? Surely the mother couldn't have just left them?" Her tone was far more forceful than she'd intended. She could smell the mother on them still, fading fast, but there as she walked over, inspecting the kits closely. This was exactly the right sore spot for Kaisra. She'd been manipulated into being given up as a kitten, her memories stolen from her as she was forced, unbeknownst to herself, into a clan she didn't belong, with parents who weren't truly her own.

"I don't know," she meowed, almost honestly. She didn't know where the dad was, and the mother... well... was floating down the river, and it was true that she technically didn't know where in that river. Her shoulders still were sore from dragging a corpse, but Kaisra didn't need to know that. "They were just above ground when I found them. Daley and I were en patrol to see if there were any more traveling herbs left unfrosted when we heard the mewling. They were out in the open and all that was left was a trail of blood that didn't lead far." She had rehearsed this in her head twice now today. Evidence that the mother was dying so that Kaisra didn't try to find her, and the abandonment of the kittens as to not hit too close to home for her. Was this lying to her? Well, yes, but sometimes, it was okay to hurt the cats you cared about most.
Daley cleared his throat. "If I may, there is evidence that we found them at just the right time. Between the predators who are just as hungry as we are and the fact that their furs haven't developed nearly enough to make them suitable for life above ground without protection, I don't figure they had much time left. If we were even five minutes later..." The tom forcibly shuttered. "we would have just found corpses."
Gossamer nodded again. "And I couldn't just leave them out there, Kais." She hadn't used that name before, but she felt it made her voice sounded more pleading. "Even if they weren't just the absolute cutest things that I've ever seen, I'm not a sadist. I couldn't leave babies to fend for themselves!" This part was technically true. Sure, it omitted the fact that they had been left to fend for themselves because of her, but hey. What Kaisra didn't know couldn't hurt her. "We could pull them down into the tunnels this far, but with only two of us we couldn't get them deeper into the tunnels and back to the Post." One of the kittens interrupted her again, and she reached down and licked her head. "Hush now," she soothed, before turning her attention back to Kaisra. "I... I didn't know who else I should have Daley fetch..." There were, of course, plenty of other options, many of them probably more helpful to her than Kaisra was, ie: any raiser. "I knew you'd be able to help us get them home."

Yes, that made sense. Something in her mind tickled the idea she should be wary, but Kaisra pushed it aside. She didn't care, these kits needed all the help they could get. And the Sentinel wasn't about to just leave them here to die. "Let's get them to Post Kilo and see if we can find a queen for them. I'm sure someone will take them in. I'll take two, you should be able to take the rest between you two right?" She licked the kits' heads reassuringly, cooing soothing words into their ears and promising them milk. They all looked healthy enough, thankfully. Maybe it was possible that their mother just couldn't handle the season and the kits, and she told herself this was the truth even if she did have that one percent of doubt. For better or worse, the parents were gone, she was certain of that much. So she had to make sure they were safe and cared for.
"Let's get going. They're so young, we don't have the time to waste right? They need to eat as soon as possible."
