[attr="class","box2"]Lionpride had been waiting anxiously for this day. It would be his first romance festival with Aconite, and he wanted it to be memorable. His mate was heavily pregnant, and due to give birth at any time. He had barely been apart from her since the day his mother had almost sacrificed herself to save them from Foxbane, but he had managed to slip away for long enough to prepare a little something special.
As the morning light broke the horizon, Lionpride slipped into the nursery and into the nest that his mother had made for her there. It had been a surprising gesture, especally since had assumed the worst about what his mother's intentions had been. "Good Morning"
He buried his nosed in the fur along her neck, his fluffy tail lightly laid on her swollen stomach feeling the kits squirm and kick within. He couldn't wait to meet them, as his nose glided down and touched her side "Good morning to you to little ones" he placed his head on her stomach, his purr gently rumbling. Some said there was no way the kits could hear him, but he felt otherwise. He had seen how they seemed to come more lively when he spoke with them.
He couldn't help but wonder what they would be like. Would the look like him or Aconite? Would they be boys or girls? Would the like him? He could only hope so, he didn't know if his heart could take it if they didn't like him.
Aconite had always been a late sleeper, but as she grew closer and closer to her due date, the kittens within her were fighting a war and constantly waking her up with their kicking. Most mornings she went back to sleep and tried her best to settle them down again, but today she didn't even try. At dawn when her little ones woke her up she cooed to them softly until they settled down, nuzzled them affectionately, then began to groom her long pale pelt. She had always been a ritualized groomer but it was far more difficult with her new shape; it took far longer, and she couldn't reach all the right spots. Still, by the time her mate arrived, she was nearly satisfied with how clean and neat her fur had become.
"Morning, Lionpride," she purred, watching him interact with their children with a small smile. He would be great with them, she was certain, and it gave her more confidence in the future. Aconite hoped she would make a good mother, but she'd never had a good example, and it would take her a while to understand what she was doing. Lionpride would be a natural, she knew it already and had complete faith that he would be with them as much as possible, a proper father. She twisted slightly to rest her chin between his ears, letting him feel her rumbling purr instead of just hearing it, before pulling back slightly so she could talk to him again. "They'll be here soon, you know," she told him lightly, trying not to sound too worried. "I'm far along."

[attr="class","box2"] Groomed or not, Aconite was always beautiful in his eyes. He knew that she worried about her appearance, but the fly away hairs and tufts of loose fur were cute to him. But appearances were important to her, and it was a secret that held close to heart. It was the very things that she dislike about herself, that made her irresistible.
Feeling the rumbling of her purr, he couldn't help but add his own into the mix. The sounds and vibrations mixing together to form a comforting song.
"Im not in a rush. As excited as I am to meet them, I would rather they take their time growing stronger inside of you, than to make an early appearance" he nuzzled her cheek, sensing the fear in her voice "You are going to be a wonderful mother, and I will be here with you every step of the way" as the end of the pregnancy was growing closer, Lionpride had made it a point to stay near by. Even skipping out on patrols, or only venturing a short distance in case she went into labor.
"We also have some of the best healers in any of the clans" he chuckled licking between her ears. They had his mother who would do anything to save their kits, Mistyrose the previous medicine cat of WinterClan, Mountainsound who had seen more births than any cat he knew, and Auntie Foxbane... though he wasn't keen on letting her near his mate or kits at the current moment.
"But in the mean time, I was thinking that just the two of us could go on a little adventure" He smiled playfully "We won't go far, but I planted some flowers for you near camp. I thought you might like to pick some yourself for your nest in the nursery" [newclass=.box2]margin:0px auto; width:300px; height:425px; background: transparent; overflow:auto; padding:8px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box2::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box2::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background: #772929;[/newclass]
"Smart tom," she purred, letting herself be soothed by his words. She was more impatient than he was to have their kits already; she wanted them to be healthy too, but pregnancy wasn't exactly paradise. Lionpride could spend every moment at her side trying to ease her discomfort and it would never be enough... though she did appreciate his efforts. Most toms in her life had ever been around that much, and she knew not every father was either. He was a special cat and his love and support never faltered. They had been through a lot together and it had pushed them to grow closer instead of farther apart.
"That sounds great," she told him, brightening at the thought of an adventure. "I haven't left camp in days, my legs are getting tired from being cooped up inside all the time. We'll find the best flowers for them... do you think the kits will like having lots of different colors to look at once their eyes open? Will that overwhelm them? I don't want to hurt their eyes," she fretted, beginning the arduous process of standing up. Everything took a long time now, it was a miracle she could go anywhere.

[attr="class","box2"] As he had hoped, Aconite liked the idea of their little adventure. While she had been largely confined to her nest, this would be a leisurely stroll that she could use to stretch her legs. He positioned himself at her side that she could lean against him if she needed to to stand.
Lionpride couldn't surpress his purr of amusement "I'm sure it will be fine, a lot of the queens use flower petals in their nest" his mother had warned him that in the days leading up to the kitting that she might become overly anxious and start nesting. "Beside they won't open their eyes for a moon after they are born"
He was content to take it slow, having no where important to be. Right now she was his only priority, and any time they spent apart made him anxious. He was never far he leaned in and licked her cheek gently.
Lionpride knew that she was uncomfortable, but he was going to miss this when the kits were born. How cute her rounded belly looked, and the feeling of the kits squirming inside of her. It felt right some how, even though he couldn't explain why. It was like he had always been destined to be a father, and the Aconite had been born to be his mate. It was like everything was right in the world when they were together.
