Okay. So it looked bad. It looked really bad. Like, insanely, impossibly bad. Honestly, it was almost comical. Foxbane, covered in blood, the body of a cat she'd been trying to save before her. A FallClan cat at that, on FallClan territory. Where she wasn't supposed to be, and almost certainly wasn't welcome. She didn't even know his name, but if she did, she might have laughed out of pure shock. Littlelamb. Well, how appropriate, right? That for once in her Sun God damned life, she does something good, and now she looked like a murderer.
Honestly, she panicked. Which, in turn, led her to look around frantically, trying to figure out a way to dispose of the body and hide her scent. Not that this worked in her favor, however, as she, in an incredibly ironic turn, walked straight into a FallClan patrol.
"It's not what it looks like. I swear." The former Priestess, and current SunClan Senator stated, though even she knew her defense looked so incredibly flimsy. She wouldn't even believe her. Well, now she had to figure out how to get out of this without starting a war with FallClan. Which, in retrospect, would have been a lot easier if she'd never come this way to begin with.

The black and white tuxedo had not expected to find this. When she left for patrol that morning, she expected just a normal, quiet day in Fallclan. Of course, things had been a bit different since Calamitystar's rise to leader, but nothing terrible had occurred yet. That was until her eyes met the limp form of a Fallclan warrior. "It's not what it looks like, huh? We'll see about that." Bonemaiden growled as her eyes flicked in rage between Foxbane and her dead clanmate. Her coat bristled as she turned to the rest of the patrol. "Let's bring her to Calamitystar. One of you go and grab more warriors to help with _______'s body."
(lol idk if we truly decided this was littlelamb or not oops)

( I okayed it with lav, so we're good. c; )
Littlelamb. Okay, now Foxbane did have to hold back a roll of her eyes for a moment. Because of course. She supposed her luck had run out the moment she'd stopped making it for herself. So, now she was going to have to not only find a way to keep a war from starting, but somehow also prove herself innocent, when she highly, highly doubted anyone would believe her. After all, the fox furred feline... well, she had a reputation, and not a good one. Leaders, deputies, kits, queens, none had been spared by her paw. And even more than that. She'd taken over MoonClan, SpringClan, and DayClan for a time, tried to do the same to the Regime, but failed. Anyone with a drop of sense would assume she had been trying to start something internally, a civil war, or some other event she could make Littlestar exploit. It didn't even have to matter that this wasn't the case, because who in their right mind would believe her.
"He was bleeding out, and I was trying to save him. Despite my track record, I do actually know healing. But I don't know where the herbs grow, and there's only so much you can do with moss alone." Indeed, she did have a few scraps of it clinging to her paws, having tried to use it to stem the bleeding when she couldn't seem to find anything else at a glance.
The sight of the small tom, bloody and battered on the ground, took away all of Pumpkinpaw's logic as she stood there, amber eyes unmoving from what she once knew as Littlelamb. Just a few hours ago, she had seen him leave camp, completely alive. He had stopped to make a joke to Hystericplague, and was nearly glared to death. What had happened? Bonemaiden's words snapped the young apprentice out of her stupor, though the meaning of them didn't quite register, and she continued to stand there, her gaze switching between the body and Foxbane, every word being spoken just going in one ear and out the other. Being as young as she was, she didn't know anything about the former leader, so she couldn't make any connections based on Foxbane's history. Even still, the cold claws of fear gripped onto Pumpkinpaw, tearing at her from within, and, with trembling steps, she hid behind Bonemaiden. If this cat had murdered Littlelamb, what would keep her from killing her as well?

Bonemaiden had a hard time believing the fox-pelted she-cat. I mean, who could blame her? Foxbane was correct, she had a terrible track record and there was Littlelamb's blood on her paws. "How are we to be sure you weren't trying to make it look like an accident. You're coming with us." She growled lowly and beckoned for the other two warriors with her to flank the former Sunclan leader. "And don't you try anything, or you will regret it." She snarled. Her eyes turned to the frightened Pumpkinpaw and Chaipaw and they softened slightly. "You two run ahead and go grab warriors to come back for Littlelamb." She instructed.
Chaipaw gave Pumpkinpaw a little nudge on the shoulder with her nose. "Come on, Pumpkinpaw." She meowed quietly.
Foxbane couldn't blame Bonemaiden, and as such, simply offered a sigh of frustration as she moved to follow. "You can't. I'd have been surprised if you believed me, anyhow." This was definitely now how she'd imagined her day going, but it seemed she wasn't having much of a choice but to follow along. Hopefully Calamitystar would at least let her help and try to prove her innocence. She doubted that he would, however. Mostly because she expected everyone to assume she'd be a hindrance, or not trust her walking around their territory sleuthing. Just her luck. Hopefully she'd be home in the next day or two at least.
Even with her sister's prodding, it was hard for Pumpkinpaw to tear her gaze away from the bloody mess of her former clanmate through the paws of Bonemaiden. Was she shivering? And was it just her, or was the world spinning? The orange tabby turned her head slowly to look at Foxbane one last time before giving a nod to Bonemaiden, feeling the world shift with the movement. She let herself be pushed away by Chaipaw, barely able to keep herself on her paws as she left.
At Bonemaiden's motion, Greyhunt stepped up beside Foxbane, her blue eyes taking in the former leader. She seemed really torn up about the death of Littlelamb, so Greyhunt couldn't bring herself to fully believe the other she-cat had caused it, but the Mistress of the Hunt had come across many good liars in her life, and from the way Bonemaiden was treating her, it seemed this might be the case. She had, of course, heard tales of the madness of Foxbane before she had come to the clan, which made her story seem extremely unbelievable.

The tall tuxedo warrior narrowed her eyes in suspicion and confusion for a moment before she let out a sigh. "Let's get moving, Greyhunt. I don't want it to get dark before they return for Littlelamb." She growled, casting an accusing glance towards Foxbane before starting the journey back to camp. Although she walked in front of the former leader, she continued to glance back. She was confident in Greyhunt's abilities if Foxbane decided to try something, but it still made the fur on her neck prickle to think of her even attempting.
Chaipaw walked ahead of her sister, letting her tail guide the shock-stricken she-cat along the way. She was also feeling the effects of innocence being torn away, but she couldn't let Pumpkinpaw head home on her own. Who knows where should would walk in this state.
