Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Maplestar fought hard to suppress the yawn that suddenly plagued her but ultimately failed to do so. She would never say so out loud but, the sun actually felt amazing on her pelt, making her feel warm and content. In the days, yes days that she had spent with Stridesplash she had gotten so use to the sun's warm that the nights she spent at home actually gave her a chill. Realistically she should of been sleeping but, her paws had already started her down their usual path to the SunClan boarder as soon as the first sign of light had bloomed on the horizon. She sighed to herself, it had been a long time since she felt this tired but, it was more than worth it. The imagine of Stridesplash's blue eyes brought a purr to her throat and seemed to almost rejuvenate her as she drew closer to her destination.
It did not last long however, stopping dead in her tracks she was ripped away from her imagination by an all too familiar scent. One that under any other circumstances would of been welcome. Now all it did was bring an overwhelming sense of fear and dread. Oakstorm.
Oakstorm noticed Maplestar pretty much the same time she noticed him. There was no point in hiding; he had been caught. The large brown tom padded toward Maplestar a little sheepishly, made all the more awkward with the light of the sun at his back. The warmth felt like burden, specifically that of suspicion, and something he just couldn't shake off his pelt. He wished to feel the chilly embrace of moonlight. It was calming to him: He may not believe in either deities, but he was raised under their laws. The religious compulsion to sleep during the day and live during the night was simply his lifestyle and the routine brought him comfort.
Although... wait a moment... what in the world was Maplestar doing out here? For her, staying in during the way was her religion, she was the High Priestess. Now that he looked more closely, she had the same startled expression on her face as he did, "What are you doing here, Maplestar? We are awfully close to SunClan's border, you know."
Oakstorm was not a good liar and knew it, so he cut himself off before he further insinuated himself into some nefarious task. Why did he have to mention SunClan at all!? If Maplestar sniffed him closely enough, she may get suspicious, if she wasn't already.
What were the odds that both of them just happened to be out at the same time, headed in the same direction. She glanced sheepishly in the direction of the SunClan border. She couldn't help but feel conflicted. When she looked at Oakstorm she saw her big brother, not one of her warriors. She stood before him now as his little sister, and not his leader even though she should of. She just didn't see herself in that role like her clan-mates did. She she could act like a leader when she needed to but, deep down she knew she wasn't ready for the kind of responsibility that came with it. For that she hated Selene for picking her, and Nightstar and Tealeaves for leaving her so suddenly and so unprepared. The fact that he was also much larger than she was didn't help either.
"You seem to be following the same trail as me, so I'm guessing the same thing you're doing." She watched him carefully. Her yellow eyes searching his, deep down she hoped she was wrong in her suspicions but something told her she wasn't.
"Oh, you've caught me, I've been hunting snakes. There are quite a few around this border and they are a lot easier to find when the Sun is up," Oakstorm lied with a nervous laugh, turning his head away from his sister's knowing gaze. He didn't crouch down to Maplestar's level as he usually did and held his tail low to the ground. The young MoonClan Follower may have been able to convince someone else of his story, but he just couldn't pretend around his baby sister. He hoped that she would buy it for his sake and stop asking questions, "Most aren't poisonous, of course, but, if they are big enough, they could probably kill a small cat."
"Snakes" she echoed not quite convinced, something in her brother's expression seemed in-genuine. She'd walked this path daily and yet to encounter any of the snakes he mentioned but, she wasn't supposed to know that there were no snakes in the area during the day. Her ears flattened at that last statement, and anger flashed in her yellow eyes. "I can handle myself, even if I do run into a snake!" she hissed. "Even so, you should at least tell me when you're sneaking off to do something as mouse-brained as hunting for snakes on your own. If not because I'm your sister, than because I am your leader."
Yeah... that didn't go so well. He watched as Maplestar got more and more angry, so angry that she even played the leader card. She was definitely on to him, but he just couldn't tell her the truth. He didn't really care if he got into any trouble; He couldn't risk any suspicion falling on Tinypaw. Sure, he didn't have to tell her Tinypaw's name, but she would tease it out of him and he knew it. Oakstorm was not good at secrets, "Of course, of course, I just didn't want to bother you with something so trivial," he replied, trying to cover for himself, then shifted the conversation,"You never did tell me what you were doing, sister. Clearly not the same thing that I am, no?"
"If I weren't doing the same as you brother why would we be taking the same path?" she tilted her head, curious. though she was trying to be serious the gesture was probably more cutesy than anything else. The longer he kept her here the later she'd be meeting Stridesplash and she was getting antsy. If she offered to go with him that would only make it harder to slip away from him, and something about his demeanor suggested he didn't want her there either. If one of them didn't fess up soon they'd just talk each other in circles all day.
"Okay fine!" she huffed, visibly deflating when she exhaled. "I'm meeting someone near by."
Oakstorm absolutely failed in masking his surprise. Maplestar would have been able to tell with little more than a glance that that was also exactly what he had been trying to do as well. Tinypaw wasn't such an easy gal to find, of course. He had gotten lucky that one time but hadn't been able to get her alone since NovaClan. That didn't stop him from trying to catch her eye by frequently patrolling the SunClan border and, in some instances cross it. Oakstorm felt like a creep doing it this way but Tinypaw wasn't giving him very many options.
Love seemed to be dangerously distracting. He had forgotten he was standing before his leader and his sister. A silence had settled between them when his mind began to stall and he could tell that she wasn't going to let it go, "Uh... me too... But wait, who are you meeting? You realize this is the SunClan border."
