[attr="class","box2"]Littlestar poked her head into her promised's side of the den, her voice filling up the silence "Its time to start preparing for the romance festival. We will need to go to the ceremony springs and gather some rather special herbs for the occassion" while she had spoken to Bloodyrondo about the upcoming festivities she had failed to mention that he would be playing a larger role than he had anticipated.
In order to set an example for the clan, the Sun God had spoken with her about an ancient ceremony that their ancestors used to perform. It had been forgotten in time, but he wished to see SunClan revive the old custom. This ceremony was a way for two cats to publicly declare their commitment to one another, to bind their souls as one even into the afterlife. It had come about when she had pleaded for his help in showing Skipstep that she had chosen him. Even though she and Leatherfern would always be connected, that she and Skipstep could have something even more special between them. They would be conducting the ceremony at the start of the romance festival, before leaving on a trip. It would be up to Bloodyrondo and Autumngossamer to over see the festival while she was gone. She didn't trust Autumngossamer after the NovaClan incident, so she would be leaning heavily on Bloodyrondo to assisit her in making this a success.
"I need to show you what herbs you will be needing and how to use them" plus many of these herbs required some preperation in advance in order to work properly. She hadn't told anyone but Skipstep of the plan thus far, wanting it to be a surprise. She had chosen to only reveal the truth to those that needed to know, and only closer to time. She didn't want the other clans to get wind of her pending absence and try to take advantage. She wouldn't put it past NightClan to try and make a move while she was gone. The last she thing she wished was to put Bloodyrondo in another difficult position.
"Grab the grass basket, and lets be on our way" the grass basket had been a gift to her from one of the other medicine cats. It's long grasses were woven into a small circular bowl with a vine handle to make it easier to transport herbs
Bloodyrondo was eager for the romance festival. He had only ever properly attended once before, and it had been a disaster, seeing as he was still single today. He had grown up quite a bit since then to become an affluent and handsome young bachelor. Surely he would meet his soulmate this year, no? He'd had his eyes on He had been working on his den when Littlestar called him, his nest lined with dove feathers, accents of pinkish-red rose petals strewn here and there, not fully decorated but it was a start.
"Yes, Littlestar, I will be right there." He scrambled to his paws and entered the main chamber. A feather clung to his head next to his ear. It was unintentionally held in place by some bloody red body paint, "What herbs are we hunting today? Must be pretty rare."
He picked up the grass basket as he waited for the leader's reply.

[attr="class","box2"]Rare they were in most places, but the Janus had been keeping these herbs alive and cultivated for several generations now. They grew very well at the ceremony spring's warm climate, protected even in the harsh leaf-bare. The herbs were also over looked for they were not used as every day medicinal purposes. They were grown specifically for fertility, and it was part of the reason why SUnClan always had an abundance of kits while other clans struggled. That and the fact the SunClan constantly encourage larger families, and saw each kitting as a blessing from their god.
"We have a long list of herbs that we will be gathering" she purred, lifting a paw and brushing a feather out of his fur. "Some of them you already know, but have not used them in this way" she smiled and hummed as they began walking towards the ceremony springs, thinking about what they should start with. It was going to be a long day of gathering and preparing herbs, so that everything would go smoothly during the festival.
"I suppose we should start with making herb bundles for she-cats that are hoping to conceive during the romance festival. These herbs will help her get pregnant if she starts taking them now in preperation. They will need to eat the contents of one of these bundles every two days"
Some cats had already come to her seeking out help, and there would be more before the time for the festival was over. "We need to grind up some cinnamon, just a small dash of the powder is enough. It will help regulate blood flow and circulation. Then we will need a small amount of ginger. Ginger will help detoxify their bodies, same with nettle. Red raspberry leave will help them ensure the will be at the right stage of their cycle" she paused and then added "oh and some red clover would be good as well. I heard that it can do wonders" [newclass=.box2]margin:0px auto; width:300px; height:425px; background: transparent; overflow:auto; padding:8px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box2::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box2::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background: #772929;[/newclass]
Bloodyrondo had not spent much time in the Ceremony Springs. It's not really his fault; things had been fast-paced ever since he started his Priest training. First the whole MoonClan thing, then NovaClan. At least his battle training wasn't lacking. He listened closely to Littlestar as she described the herbs and how to prep them. He really tried to commit them to memory; the focus was clear in his pale green eyes. His father had been a healer, right? It was in his blood to heal. And to lead, for that matter.
"So how many bundles do you think we will need to make, Littlestar?" Bloodyrondo asked as they padded toward the Ceremony Springs. The grass basket did not impeded his speaking; it was very well made, with a thin handle. His ears twitched slightly and he added, with a slightly more mischievous tone, "Also... is it true? That there's a love potion?"

[attr="class","box2"]"A few dozen at least" she replied as they entered into the ceremony springs. It was warm here, the heat of the red river rising up and filling the air with moisture. The sweet scent of herbs filled her nose, a scent that she had come to enjoy that really could be found no where else in the clans. Other clans grew herbs, but few to the extent that SunClan did. Here it was an art form, and it was their unique climate that allowed for it.
Littlestar thought about it "and you still may have to make more before the romance festival is over with" many she-cat would want this, and every one of them would need enough to take one every two days. She herself was planning on it, not that Bloodyrondo needed to know that.
"A love potion" she mused, a little purr rumbled in her throat. She had heard the rumors as well, but it wasn't what he was thinking. She did indeed have a love potion, but it wasn't used for making others fall in love with you. It was a cocktail of herbs mixed with water and stored in pitcher leaves that was for couples that were having trouble starting a family.
"Yes there is such a thing, but it is not going to make a she-cat fall for you" she guessed as to why he was asking. The rumors had been spreading since the last romance festival when she had offered one of the couple the mixture to drink, and the claimed that it was a 'magic love potion'. Cats claimed that it was so powerful that it could even make someone whom hated to you to fall in love. Of course that was absolute non-sense but she had allowed it. After all, why not? Allow the other clans to believe that SunClan had such a powerful weapon at their disposal. It would make them think twice about messing with them, if they thought sunclan could manipulate their emotions. "Have your eyes on someone?" she teased gently [newclass=.box2]margin:0px auto; width:300px; height:425px; background: transparent; overflow:auto; padding:8px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box2::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box2::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background: #772929;[/newclass]
"I do. Well, I don't a particular she-cat in mind, but I'm hoping to start a family this year, Sun God permitting," Bloodyrondo replied a little abashedly, taking a few steps ahead so that Littlerstar couldn't seen the hints of embarrassment on his face. He'd never had good luck with she-cats, never even had one show interest in him. He figured it was probably because he was so handsome and intimidating or something. Well, this year he was sure to be the stand out, he wanted to steal at least one heart. He usually loved talking about himself but something about the way this conversation was going made him feel awkward, so he changed the subject, "Shame that the love potion isn't totally real, though, not that I need it. I just wanted to know if the rumors were true is all."
He tasted the air in the Ceremony Springs - sweet as always, perhaps a little sweeter than normal? It was a pleasant aroma nonetheless. His nose wasn't sharp enough to tell much of the scents apart but noted a few that matched Littlestar's description, "So... a few dozen, and then some... that is a lot of work. Did you do it all by yourself last year?" He didn't see Foxstar having the patience for this kind of work.

[attr="class","box2"]"Littlestar purred with amusement, seeing the expression on his face at the mention of someone special. She wondered what it was like to be so young and have so many choices. She had always been told from the time that she was born, that Leatherfern was going to be her mate. It had had been destined and decided before she was born, and there had been no other options. It was only after circumstances tore them apart that she had found Skipstep. He had stood by her side through all of it, even knowing that in the begining she didn't love him. It was different now, he was the love of her life and even if Leatherstar marched through that entrance she wouldn't have turned her back him. She had chosen Skipstep.
"Good, I am happy for you" she smiled turning to one of the cinnamon plants, and began gathering them to grind once they got back to camp. "The Sun God loves it when we bring new kits into the clan to be raised in the light. There is no way to describe the love you will have for your family" it wasn't something that you could explain to someone who didn't have one.
"I did most of the work on my own, but Mountainsound was a big help" plus at the time it was something new, this year she hoped it would be even bigger. Now that cats new what to expect, there was an unmistakeable energy of excitement hovering over their camp.
"but there is something that I need to discuss with you, but its not something that I want being spread around until closer to time" she almost couldn't hold her tongue, she had been wanting to tell someone, anyone about what was coming. It was difficult to explain, but Bloodyrondo would need to know and be prepared.
"Myself and Skipstep spoke with the Sun God, and to start the romance festival we will be holding a special ceremony. It is an old tradition, but the Sun God has given us approval to bring it back even though it has not been done in a very long time. Its called the tying of the knot. It is a ceremony that will bind my soul to Skipsteps, even after we have both passed on and entered into the afterlife. Cats stopped conducting it because of the long lasting effects, and because once it is done it can not be undone. But the Sun God believes that it is appropriate for the two of, and has given us his blessing. After the ceremony, the two of us will be going on a journey.. .just the two of us. That means while I am gone, I would be leaving SunClan in your paws"
It would be the first time Littlestar had officially left the clan in his paws, and she hoped he had learned from his previous mistakes with MoonClan. t would be a second chance for him to prove himself, satisfied that he had matured a lot since that day. [newclass=.box2]margin:0px auto; width:300px; height:425px; background: transparent; overflow:auto; padding:8px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box2::-webkit-scrollbar]width:5px;[/newclass] [newclass=.box2::-webkit-scrollbar-thumb]background: #772929;[/newclass]
"Tying the knot?" Bloodyrondo echoed, one of the herbs he had selected falling from his mouth. He had never heard of the ritual, but from Littlestar's description it sounded like the most sincere proclamation of love that a SunClan cat could offer. It was a great way to start off the romance festival; Littlestar and Skipstep were well-established mates and it would be a morale booster to some of the more shy cats of the Clan. What Bloodyrondo was stuck on, however, was that it was going to be followed up with a journey, "... does that mean I will be running the romance festival on my own?"
He was immediately embarrassed by the way he had expressed himself; he sounded like an apprentice who had been told to hunt alone for the first time. Bloodyrondo had lead SunClan in Littlestar's absence before in much more dire times, so this should be a breeze. He aught to be excited about it, actually, it was a great chance to redeem himself over past transgressions. Yet, he knew what the leader's words really implied. Bloodyrondo would be in charge of the romance festival. His workload was doubled. He started to feel a little agitated. How was he supposed to meet the girl of his dreams when he was busy making love potions for cats who already had theirs?!
"But anyway, that sounds great, I'm very happy for you too," He didn't want to damper Littlestar's spirits, but the tom had always been an open book. She would be able to tell that he was annoyed and it would not be hard to guess why.

[attr="class","box2"]"I do not know" she replied honestly, "This is all new to me as well. From what I was told, the Sun God will guide our paws" at least that is what he had said. So for now even she had no clue where they were headed, only that the Sun God had a plan for them. She wished that she had a more straight forward answer for him, but the Sun God wasn't known for giving straight forward answers. Something about taking them somewhere the truth would be revealed... not that it was all that helpful in telling her promised where they would be.
"I'm sure that you will do a fine job while I am away" she purred and let her tail flick his shoulder "You have already come so far from the stubborn child you once were"
Bloodyrondo bristled a bit at the "starting a war comment," but forced his fur to smooth out and turned his back to Littlestar as he busied himself with herbs. MoonClan was still a sore subject with him but he knew that she hadn't meant to poke fun at him or anything. She had just expected him to be past it more by now. He aught to be, it was moons ago after all, and their relationship with their sister Clan had mostly recovered by now. After a little but of an awkward silence, the ginger tom cleared his throat, "I'm sure it will all work out just fine. Where are you and Skipstep going? I figure it's good for at least me to know where you are in case of an emergency or something."

Bloodyrondo's ears flicked back and he markedly turned his head away from Littlestar to hide his embarrassment. He had been fairly young when the Sun God chose him for promotion and had definitely made some decisions that he regretted. The power went to his head quickly and he acted impulsively right off the bat. It wasn't a bad characteristic to be assertive, but it was no good if he did so under flawed logic and misinformation. Bloodyrondo wasn't that smart of a cat and he was just, just beginning to realize that some things require more brain power than he is used to using. Sort of like this situation right now, "Thanks I guess... anyway... I hope you and Skipstep have a good time."

[attr="class","box2"]"Thank you" Littlestar finished up her last bundle before turning to the task at hand "So there are a few things that need to be set up. We need to ensure that Autumngossamer has everything ready for the bone readings, the herb bundles are ready to go, the camp is decorated, we have enough paints, the fresh kill pile is full, the blind dates are prepared, and I there are still tying the knot preperations to do as well" she still needed to finish her vine, the candle, and invitations.
Honestly it was a little overwhelming even for her, but at least with the SunClan team she had assembled, some of the duties could be passed on to others.
Bloodyrondo hadn't been a Warrior last time the Romance Festival happened. Back then he was quite the different cat, one to pick fights with anyone, which usually ended up in him being excluded. Okay maybe he wasn't so different... but regardless, it was a lonely time for young Bloodypaw. This year it would be different, though. He had been extremely excited to go at it and find the one this year. He was the handsome, most desirable bachelor, after all! As Littlestar listed all of the work to be done, though, he felt his paws begin to itch. The workload hadn't seemed too bad until she put it like that. Sure, Autumngossamer would be helping, but come on, she wasn't that much help. He wanted to be happy for Littlestar and Skipstep, he really did, but he always felt like he was getting screwed. His response took an unnaturally long time, "Yeah, definitely overwhelming, but all is done in honor of the Sun God," his voice was clearly strained. His claws were digging into the herb he was working on, ruining it.

[attr="class","box2"]"It didn't take much skill to pick up on how tense the young cat was becoming "That doesn't make it any easier though. Just be sure that once the preprarations are finished that you take a step back and enjoy the festivities your self. You are still young, you should take advantage of the oppertunities that will present themselves. Who knows, perhaps you will even find your own special someone"
Even though he was a little hot-headed and stubborn, Bloodyrondo was a hard worker "I guess what I am trying to say, is make sure to take some time for yourself. If all you do is work and give, you'll crumble when the clan needs you the most"
Bloodyrondo knew that the leader's words came from a good place. In fact, he knew that it was good advise, something any other cat would smile and say 'thank you for trusting me with this' in response. But not this tom. He felt his blood begin to boil a little bit. She was trying to sugar-coat the workload she was dumping on him. Take breaks, enjoy it, it sounded like a good idea but it was a lot easier said than done. Perhaps he was overthinking things. He was aware that he was being a little ridiculous. Being Priest Promised meant taking on the Priestess's tasks from time to time and eventually forever. "I'll try to do just that, Littlestar." He said shortly, trying his best and failing to stay in control of his emotions. He was no better off than he was moments before. His next reply came from the heart, "I'll figure it out, I'm sure. I just really don't want to miss out." It wasn't very Bloodyrondo for him to be vulnerable like that, but it was either open up or pick a fight; he wanted to try something different for a change.

[attr="class","box2"]"It was a little unfair of her to dump this whole thing on him knowing that he was wanting to participate, but she also wanted to carry out the Sun God's will in bringing back this ancient ceremony. She always did her best to please him, and it was no more unfair than what she had gone through at his age. At least she had gone on a murering spree and left him to pick up the pieces like Foxstar had done to her. If all he had to do was some extra grunt work, than he could consider it getting off easy.
"I believe in you" the words were true, even if he didn't believe them. If she didn't have confidence in him, she wouldn't have left this event in his paws. "In any case, I hope that you find your love during the festival. As my promised you have a lot weighing on your shoulders, and having a mate to lean on will be good for you"
(I think we should wrap this one up if that's OK with you ~)
The compliment and the change in conversation pulled Bloodyrondo out of his lull. His anger subsided for the most part, it was hard to be angry when the conversation was about him and his bright future, "Thank you, Littlestar. I hope that I find her soon! Now, we had better hurry up and finish these herbs before it gets too late. I'm sure you have much left to do."
