Here on Classic we understand that sometimes life can get difficult and we struggle. We may need to receive advice, vent, know that we are not alone in our difficult times, or even just have someone listen to what's going on in our lives. In light of these times, we have created the support threads below that are open to all of our members at any time.
Autumngossamer had been cursed by the Sun God for attempting to destroy all the clans, but like, seriously? He was making her blush, her destroying all the clans? She was being given too much credit, at most she told everyone to go back home where they would stand a chance at escaping the flood. Like c'mon, she wasn't the only one in SunClan who betrayed, she just had a title without the power and respect. And truthfully the initial curse wasn't bad, it was the second curse attached, the one that people would betray her. The Sun God couldn't mind control, but he would be hurting the lives of other SunClan cats if this curse went on, it needed to be broken, especially for her families sake. That's when she remembered Dealstar The Cursed, if anyone knew how to survive or break curses, it was him. Although she was also there the last time he got cursed so hopefully she could score a deal with this guy named Deal in exchange for him helping her break the curse.
She glanced around DayClan cautiously, luckily they didn't patrol typically, but Windchaser was quick, she had to blend in and carefully scout Deal out and avoid her and oh my gosh, hey was that Deal? She walked up to the black and white cat, "Hey are you Deal?" She asked in her super girly girl voice, "Cause like I have a favor to ask and judging by your name I'm guessing if I make a deal with you then maybe you can help me out?" She smiled slowly, a seductive smirk edging on the rim of her lips between innocent and trouble. While her curse made her looks less stunning you could never rob a soul of a good smile, it was just basic science and she knew she could at least use that perk to her benefit.
Ever since he and Glowstar broke up he'd been trying to get everything in order to leave. He would need some traveling herbs for strength until he found some prey, someone comfortable to sleep along the day, and most of all, he needed somewhere to go. Deal wasn't the most loved cat, he didn't have as many options as he once did, and he wasn't convinced any clan would allow him to stay in the clan even for a few days. Why would they? He didn't have the best reputation, even if he had gone straight now.... for the most part.... and left that life behind him. He was running out of time, though, and he couldn't stay here much longer. He had overstayed his welcome and it was killing him to be back here.
The black-and-white tom was sniffing around some daisies, hopeful they'd turn out to be usable. He was a little rusty on his healing, he hadn't been a medicine cat for long and it had been abundantly clear he wasn't cut out for the work, but they smelled familiar enough he was mostly certain they were what he was looking for. Somewhat certain. 45%? Oh, maybe he should just check with their medicine cat... He looked up sharply at cat approaching and eyed her uncertainly. He had half a mind to tell her to bother off and find someone else, but he doubted anyone would believe he wasn't Deal. If the distinctive coat didn't give it away, the distinctive scarring on his chest, cheek, and throat would.
"I don't deal with cats I don't trust," he answered, wishing he had that caution earlier in his life. "Who are you?"
"Really, cause-" your names not Deal Except I Only Make Deals With People I Trust "Cause you should get to know me," Autumngossamer purred, "I'm Autumngossamer, I was a janus, now I'm a soothesayer. Quite honestly, I'm desperate right now, so like I don't know what you want, but I'll give it to you. Specifically if you want me to like totally insult someone, I can do that very well. Or get boys to do what you want, that too. Um... I got these feathers," She said tapping at the two feathers she still had from when she was a DayClan apprentice.
"Or maybe you want more about me. I was raised by a literal fox, I was one of those kits left at a border like so many of us are. So I lived in DayClan, but when DayClan was enslaved I moved over to SunClan, I got a mate, kits. My names Autumngossamer, I'm not really sure what else you want," She said, seemingly ending each sentence in the form of a question as she wasn't sure what he was looking for.
"Basically I have this curse, you've had curses, I want to know how to break mine."
Deal eyed her warily. Former DayClan turned SunClan convert, and now one of their highest religious ranks... he wasn't convinced this was a cat he wanted to be associated with. He had more than enough trouble with the Sun God and his former clan already and he had no desire to stir up more by making deals with their members. With his luck, either Foxbane had sent her to mess with him, or Foxbane would think they were involved and kill the Soothsayer instead. He didn't want anything to do with her either way.
"Why would the Sun God curse one of his own? He seems more like the murdering type," he responded cautiously. He edged back a step, almost as if he expected his words would summon the fiery god himself. "I've found the easier way to break a curse is just to die... but I suspect you don't like that option much." He couldn't blame her for that, death was a nasty business, and she didn't have any extra lives to spare. What other advice could he offer, though? Was this a test, so the Sun God would find out how he had escaped his latest curse? Surely the deity was smarter than that...
She watched him edge backwards, dammit, he didn't trust her, he wanted to leave. "I mean, like, I would die, but like I said, I have kits, the Romance Festival is starting soon, it's just kind of bad timing to off myself. Like later sure, but this moon I kind of need to survive so maybe help me out here?"
She let out a huff of air, she could tell he was still hesitant, "Okay I got cursed by him because I'm a liar and was a loser. I couldn't see the Sun God, I couldn't interpret omens, I lied and said that MoonClan was the reason people were getting sick. I lied and said we were going to lose if we stayed a part of NovaClan. I was the only Soothsayer who couldn't see him and I was just too scared to say anything, I didn't want the judgment. But now I'm learning more on how to do my job on my own and I'll still probably lie, but I won't join an organization that wants to destroy SunClan. So yeah, like I totally get it. SunClan cats are manipulative and trick people, but you can trust me because I'm self serving. I won't betray you ever because what you would do for me would serve my best interests."
Autumngossamer leaned her head to the side trying to think, "How about I give you a fortune or I let you see anyone you want in a dream. Those are pretty good deals right?"
Deal snorted at her logic, shaking his head. "Yeah, I already played that game too," he told her bitterly, "and it backfired. Turns out helping me doesn't always serve your self-interest and then you'll turn on me again. No thanks. And what would I do with a fortune?"
His ear flicked irritably, but he hadn't let yet either. Maybe there was still some foolish part of him that believed her, wanted to help someone again... or maybe he just knew he had nothing left to lose. So what if she double-crossed him? What was she going to do that would hurt him when he already had nothing? And so he lingered on the threshold, hesitant, aware it was a terrible plan to be involved here but reluctant to go all the same. Maybe he was just tired of being alone.
And... there were some cats he wouldn't mind dreaming about again. Some apologies he needed to make.
Oh my Sun God, this guy. Maybe she should have openly threatened him since he seems to hate every lively thing she was offering him maybe a quick death was the best gift she could give him. She stared at him attentively with a sweet buttery smile the whole time, but internally was groaning and when he asked her the question she couldn't help, but break, "YES, YES. That is literally ALL I want. Please, just tell me how to break the curse. I don't know what kind of sad life you had, I'm not interested in revenge plans. Like believe me, I was literally cursed by my own God and Littlestar let it all happen and despite ME not even playing that big of a role everyone else who betrayed SunClan got a pass? If I was the vengeful type I'd go to war with God, but in the end I realize I just don't care for getting even, I just want this curse gone, so will you just tell me if you're going to help me? I'm trying so hard to be nice and it SO hard for me, dear lord."
"Alright, alright, I get the picture," he muttered irritably. It was an incredible talent that let her make his problems seem so small and unimportant with such ease... a talent that he guessed had something to do with her being cursed. Not many cats liked to defend someone like that. But it wasn't like he was the most popular cat these days either, so what did he know?
"Fine. If that's all you want.... well, it's your head if you fail, not mine." He shrugged, eyed her a moment longer, and went on. "When the Sun God cursed me, we went to the moon creek and met the Moon God there. You know they're enemies and all that? He was happy to help undo the damage his brother caused." His memory of the event was a little hazy still, he knew his mate had tricked him into heading there and the diety had broken the curse, but it had been a major shock to his system and his mind hadn't held onto it well. "Now tell me about these dreams."
Autumngossamer's mind worked like a coal vein lit with fire, one spark ignited the whole mind. Okay so if one deity could break it than... Another could or any could. It didn't need to be from MoonClan she would just have to find one who was willing, "Alright."
"When I inhale the scent of certain herbs I can enter the dreams of others, but if I give you a specific symbol with some paint I can give you access to the dream too. It'll be your job to visualize the person in order to enter their dreams and unless their in MoonClan or NightClan we should probably kill time. You're pretty jumpy so I won't go back to SunClan, you'll probably scram thinking I got reinforcements or something," Autumngossamer said with a slight groan in her voice at how annoying he was.
"It's fine, we can use this time to find some herbs, I'll find a way to burn it cause, y'know we're not on SunClan and things don't burn as easily here," She explained.
Well, that didn't sound sketchy at all. Already half-convinced this was a fool's errand, now Deal was nearly certain she was just playing a trick on him and there was no way she'd actually be able to guide his dreams. He'd seen a few strange things in his moons, but nothing this farfetched. "Yeah, okay," he muttered skeptically, "great." At least she knew better than to take him back to SunClan. Even if there wasn't a trap waiting for him he half expected his fur would catch on fire if he crossed that line again. Well, then we'd have to fire she needs to burn herbs.
"What do we need? I know a few things about herbs, maybe I can help."
"I hardly know any herbs, but I do know we could use some lemon balm and peppermint. If not then we'll just settle for whatever is around us, but those two particular herbs would help the dreams not come out blurry and ensure that the dream doesn't get cut short," Autumngossamer explained, "Honestly this took a lot of trial and error to figure out. I don't really like talking with the Sun God even though that's kinda my whole job. But y'know, it's a job so I do it... It's rocky," She finished deciding to stop talking.
"Lemon balm and peppermint. Mint grows well in NightClan, it isn't the right type but maybe it'll be close enough," Deal suggested. "Where would we find lemon balm? I don't remember seeing any." He frowned. He didn't remember it growing when he lived in DayClan, though it had been many moons since he'd led the clan, and he didn't know herbs very well back then.
Autumngossamer nodded along before chewing on her claw at his next question, "Uhhh... WaterClan?" She smiled nervously, "But maybe there's some around here. If it's from WaterClan than lemon balm probably grows around muddy water right? There was a waterfall here right? So we can split up and meet back with the herbs in this spot?"
(If Deal agrees to that we can just fas forward with them meeting back with the herbs)
He did not want to walk all the way to WaterClan. If there was a chance the herbs were close by, he'd take that risk. "Fine, let's try it," he agreed with a sigh. "I'll get the mint."
--
Deal wasn't sure how much to bring back. It had been easy to find the mint in NightClan territory, same place as he remembered it, and he'd gotten as much as he could carry in his jaws. If there was extra he'd just leave a pile at their border and hope someone took it back to camp. As he returned to their meeting space he glanced around, and his eyes narrowed as he spat out the herbs. She wasn't here. Of course she ditched him, how stupid was he to think she'd actually come back and do this?! It had all been a giant waste of his time.
It took some stealthy moves that she didn't possess, but pushed herself to accomplish to grab the lemonbalm. It was over the koi fish pond, which was about the worst place it could be. The koi fish pond was pleasant but its waters were deeper than anything she had ever experienced. This resulted her carefully skirting around the thin rims to the center of the pond where there was a little island for decoration where the lemonbalm was at. her paws and stomach were soaking wet, but she triumphantly placed the lemonbalm and a tiny leaf pouch down with a tired expression, "Mission complete."
"Alright, now follow me to a source of water, you'll lie down by it like you would at moon creek, close your eyes. I light the herbs up and all you'll need to do is think of who you want to visit so c'mon," She beckoned him with her tail and reached down picking up the lemonbalm and leaf pouch moving in towards the stream they were near and began to carefully undo the pouch to reveal some shimmery stones, "Alright, lie down and when you're ready you'll let me know and I'll begin." Autumngossamer explained.
He spun around as he heard her approaching, his hackles starting to rise, but to his surprise, she was waiting there with the herbs. "Last time I slept by a creek, a god was altering my memories," he muttered, still reluctant to believe the Moon God had actually been helping him. It was difficult to shake off those old suspicious, but it must be possible because he was willingly going along with Autumngossamer's crazy plan now. His pelt smoothed again as he followed after her, listening to the quiet rush of water as they drew near.
He crouched down and shifted into a comfortable position, resting his head on his paws. There were so many cats he could speak to, but he focused on one of them and held them in his mind.
"I will wake you up after an hour, in the dream world this should feel like twenty minutes," Autumngossamer said, gently floating the herbs in the water, "You may wake yourself up sooner, but know that your sense of time will be very distorted and you maybe a bit panicked for a brief moment of time if you do wake up early. I hope you think of sweet dreams." With that she tossed a few flat looking shavings of stone into the water igniting fire onto the herbs burning them and the water, but the moment Deal inhaled the scent he was out in his dreams. Autumngossamer gently moved his head safely away from the flaming water before sitting down beside him, watching over him as he slept.
