Glowstar leaned into Funk E'tan's shoulder looking out at the leagues territory as they lied down watching the sunset. They had been dating for over a week now and all ten days had been them visiting each other back and forth. Before sunset she would leave DayClan and spend her nights warmed up against his chest. Sometimes they would go out, other times they would stay in and simply enjoy the others presence. Glowstar placed a paw in front of her mouth as she let out a yawn, but smiled up at him, "When we're mates do you think we'll merge the league and DayClan together?" She asked. Glowstar had wanted to enter a dating phase, not declare them as mates until they got to know each other more. Yet with every trip she only yearned for the day when they could call themselves a permanent couple. It had become a habit for her to say when and not if.
Being back in the league was nice, it felt like she was home again, it almost hurt to know she had missed the league, like DayClan wasn't good enough, it was a traitorous feeling. But at the same time she missed the roar of havoc, street violence, and injustice that plagued these lands. She gave Funk a lick on the cheek, "Can I sleepover tonight?" She asked, which had become a frequent question these last ten days.

"Of course." Funk E'tan answered easily to the second question, the words rolling off the tongue easier than they had yesterday. Like he said anything different, even after the first day when he could talk again, he said it. A thousand sensations had hit him these past 2 weeks. So much had happened, and somehow it continued with Glowstar leaning into him more and more each day. He wished he could visit Dayclan more, but work tended to rule his days. It was an unknown feeling, something he was afraid of. For as much as he was ready to get rid of these butterflies, he also wondered what he would do when they were gone.
That word didn't help. When. No If. It made his heart fly as high as the sky when they were together, but sink to the bottom of the ocean when he was left alone with his thoughts. Which was why he was relieved Glow wanted to enter a dating relationship right away. He didn't want the if to exist, yet he continued to be shy. Well, what she called shy. What he figured she meant not opening up enough. When it came to feelings, grabbing the shovel was a reflex. Not that he ever had the right words, the right script to get them across.
He almost forgot her first question, lost in her again. "What'd we be called then? Leagueclan? Day's Instinct?" He laughed, a sound that now hurt a little. He rubbed the back of his paw against his neck, not sure he'd ever be used to the smooth scar that now dominated his throat.
"Mmm, how about Glowing Rhapsody? Funky Lights?" She purred, "Or we can just call ourselves something cool like Shadow Slayers or The Dark Lands."
She watched him paw at his scar and wondered if she would have been the same way. The day she had nearly been killed was vivid, but she didn't remember recovering for long before giving birth. She hadn't known she was pregnant, probably wouldn't have let herself get beat up as much as she had if she'd known. But it was hard to pay attention to a scar when she went from fighting a demon to being a mom within a matter of hours. Then the second time was Foxstar and her dying next to one another, she could have stayed dead that time too.
Glowstar placed a paw over his, "Usually I wait for two weeks to pass, but I'd like to tell you somethings about myself before things get serious. Things that might be deal breakers."

The red Nemesis laughed a little lighter, letting his paw rest on the ground next to yours, "I'd hate to drag down Dayclan's glowing image with a name like that last one." Sure, Funk liked Dayclan cause Glowstar was there. But he also liked it for other reasons. It was a land he kept visiting when he was still roaming. And now he was here, potentially about to take over it with the love of his life. How times had changed. "Those are good. I feel like it should be light and dark, though. Not one completely taking the other over. Living in harmony like those fish in Avatar The Last Airbender." Okay, so they were yin and yang fish. But still, fish. "My ideas would be like Wecan'tpatrolallthislandclan."
His hums in amusement slowed as Glowstar spoke up again. Not able to tear his eyes from her's. Though, he let a smile grace his features, one that was a bit comforting but a little amused at the same time. "Babe. I'm the King of Dealbreakers." There was little reason to ever stick with Funk. He'd always stab you in the back at the end. Even her doing this for the past 10 days was an honor. But he was so obviously not himself anymore. His expression softened. "I'll tell you mine too. Though whatever you say won't make me think less of you."
“Really?” She smiled, apparently finding comfort that there was so much about Funk that was a dealbreaker. She nuzzled his muzzle in a butterfly kiss, “Okay,” She agreed and seemed to brighten up, “Alright um, let’s see. I’ve only had one mate my entire life and when he died I could never get over him so I take things slow because it still hasn’t stopped being hard for me to move past that he’s gone. His name was Rake and basically he had a demon trapped inside of him and that demon haunts my family, its name is Rane. I was originally banished from the league, technically still am, but assuming I’m allowed to be here,” She laughed a little, but seemed to pause for a moment before saying, “And I can’t have kits. My mom didn’t want me to ever have kits so she fed me herbs that overtime just ruined my chances of ever having any. I’m pretty sure the only way I had my litter with Rake was because my kits are half demonic. And then the second litter was Bluejay, the Sun God was able to bless me with one kit, but unfortunately, I’m pretty sure she’s influenced by Rane and now wants to murder everyone. And while I do not have romantic feelings for Darkcomplex, he’s family in the sense that we’ve raised kits together and if he needs me for family related things I do need to be there. Also Foxbane kidnapped me and forcefully had me become a member of her cult so technically I’m a member of SunClan.” She let out a giant breath, “Okay, I think that’s everything that’s important,” She said with a shy little smile.

He nuzzled her back, surprised she was finding such comfort and that. But eh, least she did. Though as he settled back, he wasn't prepared.
...
okay, that was a lot. His expression showed that as she went, but he relaxed after she finished. Not that he expected less. He knew some things. Well, he knew Sen and Lucistic. He almost couldn't be surprised at the demon thing after meeting that one in the crypt. Still, that was a lot to digest. Though as he thought about it, nothing really bothered him. He had trouble getting over his first love too, he was also messed up by a demon. But that demon didn't give him kits? What the heck. Though he really didn't need more. Or necessarily want more. This Darkcomplex guy sounded fine. Though if he had everyone be a part of his family that raised his kits, it'd... still be mostly Eerie. Oops. And he was just waiting for Foxbane to kidnap him too. So. If this was like a year ago, it would have all been a dealbreaker. But now...
Funk nodded, pressing his muzzle against her cheek in a kiss. "Thanks for telling me." There was a few mysteries solved, "Though now mine feel far simpler and, more heartless." Funk's smile was sheepish, like he was suddenly ashamed to tell the 'assassin' about all his misdeeds. He took a deep breath before starting, "If I go into everything, we'd be here a while. I've just... done a lot of wrong, I guess. Least everyone else calls it that, and I guess they're right. The main one is I learned a good chunk about medicine from a clan. And thanked them by poisoning the food supply. While I've never met some descendant from..." Funk paused, looking down at his paws briefly, "What was it called? Earthclan? No... Anyway, someone forgettable. So, if someone from some no name clan comes to kill me, that's why. Hmm. I tend to flirt and ... eh sleep around, but none of it is ever 'cause of romantic feelings and the like. Can't really excuse it, but I promise I won't do it anymore..." He tried to sound genuine, a little hard when you lie a lot. But he meant it.
The whole time Glowstar's eye contact seemed to grace him in warmly, as though her eyes alone could be all the reassurance he needed. They were filled with such understanding and unconditional love it could make anyone melt inside. She placed a paw over his, "You're the nemesis, Funk, I could not love a wolf and ask him not to hunt prey. If it is in your nature to be cruel, all you need to do is tell me and I will understand." Her words were warm like soft beams of sunlight, it made anyone want her to keep talking to feel that warmness again and again. She nuzzled into him, her eyes danced briefly with mischief, "Although poisoning the clan wasn't a cruel move, that was just a jerk move," She purred, nuzzling her head against him in a silent apology for teasing him.
"I shouldn't be one to talk though. When I first became leader of the assassins I infiltrated WaterClan for moons, studying them. I loved WaterClan and I fell in love with every clan there, I even arranged a date between two warriors, head over heels for the culture, everything about them," She smiled warmly, "And then I killed their leader and set WaterClan on fire! I started the fire in the water, the proxies were so jealous cause back then the assassins and proxies used to have this whole rivalry. Desiderata E'tani was so proud, I miss that a lot, the action."

For as much as Funk felt the need to look away, staring at his paws like an awkward apprentice, he simply couldn't. That gaze was like a warm blanket, completely wrapping him in the security he craved yet feared. He almost couldn't get over it, how she just completely monopolized his attention, his mind. For as wretched as he had been, and was going to continue to be, Glowstar's complete acceptance just melted him. For as much as a part of him wanted to cast that blanket off, he couldn't reject that sweet suffocation.
"Then it is. There's still, so much to learn about the cat body and just how much we're capable of. I want to continue my research, even if it involves cruelty." Course, he used even and not especially. It was in his nature. Funk couldn't deny it. Glow knew of Primal Instinct, knew the calls he had to make and such. There was no point in explaining them, but he let out a laugh at her next comment. It was a jerk move. But man, they were asking for it. He nuzzled his head against her, a silent forgiveness.
Funk smiled throughout Glow's whole story, transfixed on each word before the next came. Things had changed so much. The positions, the placements. It made him remember how little he actually knew about the clans. Also like he didn't remember when someone could start a fire in water. Though Glow was the kind of person that could make him believe that easily. He let out a hum, "Crazy. I'd be jealous of you too." The last comment made his eyes light up with mischief, "Miss it, huh? Well, we can always change that. The city is huge, there's bound to be a place where you can get that back." It must have been hard. Funk at least was expected to be evil. Or at least never up to anything good. She had a reputation, a good one that needed to be kept. There were enough loners and rogues in his pocket, he had a feeling he could cover anything up. Not that he was sure it was enough.
Glowstar nodded, she used to dissect cats often, they were all league cats. Those that volunteered their bodies after death to be experimented on. Every person she cut open had been a familiar face, she was always respectful, never wasting a body and made sure to learn something new about the anatomy before returning them into the earth. The worst were stillborn kits, their mothers wanting them to have been born for some greater purpose and were offered into her claws. Those haunted her, she had a few rules as an assassin and one was that kits were always out of the question. That part would be hard if she found out Funk killed kits, hurt them she would get past so long as he didn't bring that into her life.
"You're too kind," Glowstar purred, the thought of experimentation was not yet pushed away, "I might take you up on that city offer, so long as it's out of DayClan's view. They're so sweet in DayClan, killing is such a savage act to them, I would never feel comfortable with them seeing that part of me. I find that I don't feel the need to kill as much as I used to though, maybe it was an addiction," She laughed, "Actually, when you mentioned cats bodies there might be a fun place you'd like to visit," She blushed suddenly and grinned, "Unless you were being sneaky and talking about my body, we can explore that too."

When he was young, Funk was the kind to dissect insects. Always the kind who wanted to see what was inside. Then he slowly moved up to frogs, then small animals, then cats. It was more fun when they were still alive, when he could see the organs beat and move before sewing them back up. It was one of the few things that made a chill run up his spine nowadays. Funk had no morals in his experiments, his main priority was always his curiosity and desires. But, at least thankfully for Glow, kits were rarely a subject. "Yeah, most of the time now it's just prisoners or cats that mess with any of our businesses. Occasionally, I go help the Pathologists and help dissect a dead animal in their care but that's about it." Course, he could always ramble about his passions if let. Last week, he got to try and figure out how a toucan died. And that was a lot of fun.
He nodded. There was no one who knew Dayclan like Glow did. And the last thing Funk wanted was to ruin her reputation. That last part stuck with him. Maybe it was an addiction... an addiction Funk couldn't break. He was practically an addiction. He had little hope of ever breaking it. A part was glad Glow did, and another wanted to see what she was like then. Funk gave a smile at him being sneaky and trying to get with her. He gave her neck a quick lick before purring. "Hmm, What can I say? When you have the opportunity to taste perfection, you can't help but be a little impatient."
"I'm impatient too, I long to just call you mine and have us rule DayClan and the league as king and queen. That one night I went back home was the worst nights sleep, but when I come here I can always sleep easy and it's always pleasant walking through the city at dawn back into DayClan. I want you, but it would be too wild to just say we're mates so soon right? I guess that's just the logical side of me tormenting my heart as usual," She laughed, but it sounded faded. It was hard waiting so long for them to decide to be together. But becoming mates in less than a moon of dating seemed like it would be a hard adjustment for DayClan, it was better to sink them into this slowly, especially when Funk had yet to make appearances there.
"You should come around DayClan more often though, it would help my warriors feel comfortable in your presence. After all when we are mates I would like you to stop by sometime, I would not mind sharing my leadership with you."

King and Queen. It didn't feel real, that he was sitting here with a future like that in front of him. He appreciated the chance to go slow, to allow himself to acclimate to the idea of becoming mates. The word made his ears hot. Mates. Oh god. He was really here, some brief window of 'normality' in his life of complete chaos. Course, this was Glowstar and it would never be normal, but the idea was what got him. The wait was okay, his last chance to live the life he was used to. Funk wasn't sure if they could get any closer, but he leaned into her as he tried to, "I know, it's a torturous wait. But it's best. For us, Dayclan and the League. Besides, we'll have all the time after to call each other whatever we want in no time." He purred. It sounded so practiced, maybe he was used to telling himself that too. Deep inside.
"Hey, I've been trying. But I'm also the only one that gets any work done around here." Laughing before letting out a sigh, "I'll make an effort to come more often."
"A proxy will do as you say, if you need assistance they'll grant it, all you need to do is ask. I know past nemesis felt weak having proxies and would refuse to ask them for any help. Probably only Senescence will refuse certain orders, she's too much like her father and brother, I worry all the time that it will kill her the same way it killed them," She said before feeling Funk E'tans gaze, a light blush traced across her cheeks, "It's different sometimes when you only have one litter, I coddle them all the time for it."
Glowstar nuzzled against Funk E'tans cheek, "Do you want to stay in tonight or do you want to go out?" She asked as she gently licked his neck and cheek comfortingly before resting her head at his paws. Her attentive gaze staring out over the horizon.

"Yeah, but you don't work with Sen, Innocentia and Lux on a daily basis." Funk hung his head. Okay, sure, he could tell them to pick up some slack for Foreign Affairs. But he knew only Inno would do it, cause she was the only one that did any work. Sen was focused on the market and never listened to him anyway, and Lux would pass it on to someone else like he did for his own district.
"Can't really talk for her, but she's danced with death so many times, I think she's got the steps down." Besides, she'd live on sheer spite to outlive him at this rate. So she was good for a few years. "That's okay, better than being a bad dad like me." He'd wear that badge proudly except for now, where he tucked it in his pocket. Not his fault his kids got boring.
He nuzzled her back, the usual nervous energy leaving him. Normally, he'd be up and ready to move on. Somehow Glow quieted that urge, not sure how that happened. He licked gently behind her ear, "You know me, I'm easy long as I'm with you." He looked up, trying to think of what could be going on tonight. For as chaotic as the city was, there was a schedule. "Let's see. normal activities going on. Parties, gambling rings, usual. I think one of my buddies mentioned a new betting ring starting, but they take beetles and have them fight. Not sure what that's all about. Could be fun."
Glowstar sleepily rolled over to look up at him, "Wherever and whatever you want to do," She smiled drowsily with a lick across his cheek before snuggling back into him.

It was a silly idea. The kind of thing he'd get wrapped up in all too quickly. Though the more he laid here, the more he didn't want to move. For as much as some part of him fretted about it, he couldn't heed to it. "Then, perhaps, we can just stay like this... for a little longer." Funk murmured, curling and pressing his head into her enough to suffocate in her fur.
Glowstar had drifted off asleep, her eyes opening to the next morning as a low exasperated no escaped past her muzzle. She leaned up before catching Funk's shape, she forgot how much of an early bird DayClan had made her become, "Funk," Glowstar whispered prodding at him, "We messed up, as in I messed up and fell asleep," She let out a groan lying her head back down easily, her face looking at Funk's, "Being a leader and coming here okay and also checking in on SunClan is hard. But don't worry, we can go out next time, I'm so sorry I fell asleep and don't worry, I have the Immortal Council to rely on, I can totally stick around for the rest of the day maybe? It could be fun." She tried to persuade feeling awful enough that they hadn't gone out and done anything fun, but in fairness Funk's entire body was so warm and cuddly and safe to be wrapped up in, who could resist?

Funk hadn't even noticed himself fall asleep, crashing far too fast to even catch himself. Guess that what he got for pulling so many all-nighters lately. Even the faint light leaking into the den and hitting him right in the eyes didn't stir him. The first indication he even woke up was a low groan, still muffled by Glowstar's fur before he pulled away slightly. Definite fur in his mouth he swiped away, definitely dried drool on her coat he brushed away with a quiet and groggy sorry. It didn't even hit him how genuine it was, one of the first. His head was too full of cotton, mind struggling to catch up to Glow's words. Did she want to stay? Or did she want to go? Funk couldn't tell, not even when his eyes scrunched up some as he attempted to piece it together. Glancing outside and seeing the early morning, he let out a sigh.
"We missed the bug fighting, dang it." He sounded like a child, a kind who was far more disappointed in the fact that they missed such an interesting event over trying to figure out what to do. "So, are you sure you want to... stay?"
"Aw it's fine," Glowstar said, she was drooler herself in her sleep, but to her that was better than having a bad habit of snoring. She caught Funk looking at her with a scrunched up expression and squinted her eyes back at him, with a seriousness she couldn't seem to fake in the eyes, before swiping her lips with her tongue returning back a playful smile. She was about to ask why he was looking at her like that, but her ears immediately drooped at his disappointment as she soothingly kissed up against him, her head gently moving down him from his head down to his neck in apology, "I'm sorry I made us fall asleep and miss the fight. I can stay if you want me to. I want to, but I understand if you're a little upset with me," Glowstar said with a guilty expression that was as rare as miracles came. She never felt guilty towards anyone or about anything, but with him he was one of the few people she could surrender to.

At least Funk could never stay mad at Glowstar, even if his disappointment was immeasurable. And by that, it was too small for him to really know. He almost didn't expect her to genuinely be sorry. His tears were usually crocodile, and everyone knew that. Glowstar included, so his expression broke somewhat as her's slacked. And he felt guilty, an emotion he couldn't remember the last time he felt. "Oh, it's fine, dear." He kissed her on the cheek, perking up like he hadn't just seen something so rare. It almost... didn't matter. "Though you wouldn't have happened to see my girlfriend anywhere? She's always smiling and I think she deserves a day on the town."
