Cavernpaw lifted his head to the sky and was instantly glad to see the sun finally shining despite the harsh cold that had settled over Fallclan. He soaked in the weak, but cheerful, rays with a purr before deciding to continue his hunt. He was determined to make his mentor proud by bringing back the biggest piece of fresh-kill for the feast.
She was so tiny that the wind could have carried her off with a single gust, but the small ginger and white she-kit watched Cavernpaw with wide eyes. She could tell he was hunting, though when Hazelkit tasted the air, she couldn’t scent anything but Cavernpaw. It hadn’t been long since Graypaw and Tatteredraven has found her near death in the forest, but the small cat was proving to be adventurous and unable to stop herself from getting into trouble. She narrowed her eyes playfully before yowling leaping out from the bracken where she had been hiding, grabbing Cavernpaw’s tail.

Cavernpaw let out an "oof" of surprise as he felt little teeth sink around his tail. As he did so, a nearby squirrel darted up a tree and he let out a little snort of amusement. Fortunately for Hazelkit, he wasn't like some of the other apprentices who would have gotten angry. He turned his head to look back at the little kit, whiskers twitching. "I think you, uh, caught the wrong prey there." His tail waggled slightly to emphasize his point.
